North american salaries are just fucking crazy. 60k USD a year for a writer? Like holy shit that what a masters degree mechanical engineer with 5+ years of experince would get over here. Like even if I assume that the 60k is in canuckistan kopecks you still make more then I did at my first engineering job. I was paid around 3600 dollars (in SEK, before taxes) at a rather prestigous company. After taxes I think it was around 2700ish. While these people just half ass a script every week sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.

Your cost of living is comparable too..

Sidenote had a friend a couple years ago who's first engineering gig was in one of the major cities and he was salaried around 3300 and rent for him was 1200 dollars for a shitty one room shoebox!

A company I previously worked for imported an early 2000's CNC plasma cutter from america and from the start it was nothing but trouble. One thing it would frequently do while cutting 8mm or thicker steel was to lose controll of it self and just ram in to the side of the enclosure. The computer would just say "connection lost" and then off it went! Im gonna assume it was due to improper sheilding of cables due to our voltages being a lot higher then america.
Welder here, plasma tables can be tricky if they aren't tuned and set right, especially depending on brand. Do you remember which one you were using? I have expirence with plasmacam and Lincon Electric's Torchmate.

I can't prove it, but willing to bet Linus bought the building in a haste. That video where it was mostly him and Yvonne doing the walkthrough of their new building and how much it cost; he paid like two million in an inflated market, and I'm willing to bet he didn't have a long thought/planning process to determine how shit is going to go. He didn't go in with tape measures and get the dimensions of the offices and other places, or the plans to know how shit is currently wired and what additions/modifications they'll need to do for their plans. Willing to bet he also waived or sped through the real estate buying process (something you should never do). He saw a space, liked it, gave Yvonne a proper dicking to get her to say yes, and now he's hemmorraging money due to being a low impulse leaf nigger.

And this is shit you need to do, and I know I harp a lot about his entire team being niggers when it comes to servers; but you have a server stack, maybe you'll have two eventually. Those things need a controlled environment; meaning you'll need better than average HVAC, meaning unless there's a pre-made server room, you'll have to do it yourself, and take shit like hot/cold sides of the building during the seasons, noise pollution, should it be elevated due to possibly being in a flood zone, and other shit into account. There is a lot of shit most people don't think of when buying homes, and that list only gets bigger when you're buying commercial property... and Linus "Faggot" Sebastian just fucking whatevered it.
Has Vancouver suffered a hit to real estate prices recently like other places due to the recession that we can't say is a recession? In places in the US prices have dropped almost 30% since the high of 2022 and that must eat away at Linus, he bought at the hottest point and even the Chynese have cooled off the market.

It's no wonder they keep this loser off camera. He's an unstable freak.
These soyboy retards think estrogen is the Limitless pill and they've doubled their power after unlocking the feminine half of their brain. Someone should inform Elon and Bezos that they should stop taking testosterone and start painting their nails if they want to unlock their full potential.

"SMD"? Wow, your toxic masculinity is showing dude.

What pointless video, why are you doing this shit in the middle of a move instead of focusing on not fucking up everything else for the precious labs? This Tanner guy not only is a forced ironic zoomer, he's got bitch tits and a beer belly you'd expect from a 45 year old welder. These people are just disgusting to look at.

Later on he whines about how it's so unfair that he can't just enjoy luxuries AND save for a house as much as he wants. The whole system is fucked!

Meanwhile people starving in Venezuela, Mexicans building shacks out of billboards, etc.

This reminds me of the CRT video with him n Linus.
All I can recall is Linus having a hard time understanding CRT hype while David kept on justifying his CRT fad hobby throughout the video.

I was actually in the same shoes as Linus cuz I literally don't see a difference even when they are playing retro games and kept wondering wtf he is talking about
and in the video it was literally his collection he brought to the studio for Linus to make a video and profit off of his dumbass.
Not to mention it literally looks like he chose only the best in his collection for how colorful and clean they are.

LOL that soyjak is such a consoomer he had to convert his garage to another room to store it all;

Consoomer collection is one thing
but having Cereal boxes as part of your decor just tells me your a bigger manchild than the average consoomer

He wants to be funny but this is all shit.

I can't speak for everyone, but CRTs are/were enjoyed mainly for purity; and mainly when you attempt to upscale older graphics onto a HD screen, you see a lot of jank that was hidden by the lower resolution of a CRT. There was also that CRTs were more reliable with a steady framerate and less lag, as I remember a story during the SF4 days, when HD was starting to take over; that a number of Japanese players practiced on CRTs. That later issue has been resolved now, but you need to be particular when shopping for a "gaming monitor."

Basically, because a CRT works by scanning a beam across the screen, there are some visual artifacts on the picture you get out. Not just scanlines (but they are a big part of it), but also seamless transitions between pixels in one dimension only. The best graphics design of the CRT era took advantage of this to "upscale" images, using the artifacting to make the image look better than it actually is. The more flawless pixels of a modern LCD/OLED panel don't do that, and pictures that looked smooth on a CRT instead look pixelated and messy.

"but that's just blurry"
Yeah, but it's only blurred horizontally. The effect, paradoxically, is a much smoother and much sharper looking picture.

CRTs hurt my eyes though, I'm glad they're dead.

No. Scanlines are the result of not feeding the tv an interlaced signal (hard to do with old digital electronics), which leaves every other line blank (the lines would be completely black if it weren't for the glow of the neighboring lines affecting them).

The visible raster and blurring have nothing to do with the beam but are the result of the grid of phosphor coatings which are what produce the actual light. And that differs with different tvs. Sony Trinitron are famous for using the pattern in the middle which makes it continuous vertically.

CRTs are good at concealing dirty video signals due to their low resoution. It also helps that when using RF, the analog tuner in a typical vintage CRT TV is quite forgiving; in the worst case scenario, you get a slightly snowy picture rather than no picture at all (modern TVs will sometimes throw a shit fit if a composite signal is too noisy). For instance, I had no idea that Commodore machines had major issues with jail bars until I hooked up a C64 to a modern LCD a few years back.

GN is good because they are very methodical in their reviews, and also Steve has some actual journalistic integrity which is a very rare sight nowadays. You watch GN to actually get some info on the hardware, not for entertainment.

Meanwhile Wendell's channel suffers from the issue where all the actual content gets drowned out by their news recaps, where you can have a couple a week, and you need to use something like BlockTube to filter that out. If you want to filter out those news recaps with BlockTube, add this to the "Video title" filter list: /^The Level1 Show.*:.*$/
This is also why I watch GN. His videos are 90-95% actual information and a couple of clever jokes inserted here and there. He is the exact polar opposite of LTT.
But this is coming from a guy who religiously watched nothing but TechTV until G4 bought it out and turned it into gamerbro garbage.
He also runs a tight ship with minimal fluff(again the opposite of LTT) and, as you said, has integrity. He's said on videos that his personal PC at home is actually very middle of the road/aged because he doesn't use any of the parts the company has. Hell, in some of the newer videos you can see extra barcode stickers that aren't normal UPC's on parts that I'm willing to bet is an inventory tracking system to *make sure* nothing goes walking out the door. The only times I remember parts leaving the company were the couple of videos he did when he rebuilt damaged viewer PC's using similar (and now outdated) parts from the inventory. Which is a great way to drum up good will with your audience and clean out some space on the shelves.

I like how truly neutral he is when it comes to brands when he reviews. I've heard him called a 'nvidia/intel shill' but that tended to only be from a EXTREME AMD diehard fanboi head admin from Razorfist's discord. If AMD is better then Steve will say so. It just happens to be that for most of recent history, until Ryzen at least, that Intel beat AMD's ass like a redheaded stepchild. Hell, the dude has such integrity that he even refuses to get a free dinner from execs when he visits companies to grill the higher ups on why they're doing the dumb thing they're doing. Whenever he does those videos his own company pays for the travel, room and board for him and whoever he brings with him.

The PC gaming subreddits are full of actual ADHD children who bash Steve, suck LTT's dick, and downvote bomb anyone who criticizes LTT because they must have clickbait 'entertainment' with little to no actual useful information. The Tech Youtube version of Twinkies. All fluff, no useful sustenance.

Spergy rant/stream of consciousness over.

I remember seeing that quite a bit in the original Neo Geo MVS cabinets and IMO it always looked like shit because they darken the picture and it is no longer as vibrant as it should be. The same is true for a lot of interlacing/"scanline" emulation in ports and emulators. Something they could fix if they really wanted to go with that stupid filter.

A couple of years ago I made an effort post about this by grabbing some images from the official youtube trailer for Capcom's Street Fighter collection or whatever it was.
This is before and it is completely fucked.

Again, this is from the official trailer.

This is after, it crushes some of the whites(it is a screengrab from a youtube video after all) but the actual colors shrines through.

Again, this is something they could easily do(with better results) in software when enabling that mode.

some places dont even need a degree at all and you can get a respectable wage starting 10 - 12 an hour.

90% of the job market in north-west ohio is made up entirely of that lol.

McDonald's, Carl's Jr. (or Hardees), and Chipotle are all starting off at like $16 - $18 an hour. But I'm in California, and you don't want any of this.
