A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, in this case account security was only as strong as the most tech illiterate person who can access the channel.

I'm sure that most successful hacks tends to rely on social engineering (to gain trust) and human error. Rarely you get hacks that attempt to use vulnerabilities because that takes a lot time, that's why it's easier to exploit human ignorance and stupidity to gain access at something.

That's something that I learned slowly.

Linus is at fault, but not fully.
As described by his own video and people here, his own security is a lackluster and, by the most part, not prepared for how to handle a situation like this. Describing "I don't know how to revoke access" etc etc.. that should be someones dedicated job in a 100+ employee business with 24/7 call rates to cover shitstorms like this.

Flip side, YouTube is a JOKE when it comes to this shit. Look how many channels for months have fallen to this access bullshit.

To add to this point, I would argue LTT was part of a blanket spam attack which is practically automated. If I was attempting to hack specifically LTT, do you think I would stream some bullshit bitcoin double bullshit?! HELL NO! I would edit video descriptions to include my own amazon affiliate bullshit and take that sweet two week passive paycheck for months on end. One link from the 10+ they add to each description would be very hard to detect.

No this is so prevalent that whoever gained access just did the auto pilot checklist to start scamming:
- Access channel
- Change name (why is this not checked by YouTube for keywords like Telsa?)
- Private/Delete all videos.
- Change Logo
- Start stream with elon_vid_scam.mp4 as the source

Love or hate Linus, this has been an ongoing problem across YouTube. Your favorite creator could be next.

I'm about as skinny as you can get without joining the anorexia club, but if I drink minimally for a week, and then nothing for as long as I can stand it, even I will look absolutely ripped on a photo. Linus really just needs to learn to read the instructions online, that goes equally as much for ZFS pool maintenance as it does for taking sexy photos.

It's kind of horrific to have the inside of your house covered in cameras like this. It's also horrific that he walks around naked even knowing those cameras are there.

What would you expect from someone who grew up grooming LGBT kids at bible camp? Not like mister I sleep in the nude because I still wet my bed hasn't exposed himself on camera to his kids how many times now? Maybe the hacker will release that footage and child services can get involved before something else ends up in the dryer lol.
