On investing in Framework - It also goes against what he promised he would do. My opinion then it's the same as now - why should he not promote the company if he believes in it?
He said he would basically avoid talking about it to not show his bias, but... why? Afaik it's the only company producing user-serviceable laptops, so it's obvious that if you want to support this trend, you would push for this company. Also, he has no problem shilling his products, why would a laptop be different?

I think he is more scared of companies not sending him laptops (or pay less) to review because they would be afraid he could just end each review with "well, a Framework would be better"

the latest video has dropped and its another fucking server video.
in todays shitshow of jake not knowing what he's doing and linus not caring about important company infrastructure, they decide to use consumer grade nvme SSD'S on their main editing storage server's array.
their explanation for this is enterprise ones are "muh to expensive"
they're expensive for a bloody reason, they are going to be hit harder and have to last longer in this state then consumer ones and are designed for these kinds of workloads.
its like having an F1 car but the engine in it is from a 1965 Ford Transit van. its gonna work but not well and most likely not for long.

Some idiot is gonna try building this thing based on the video, and in a few years it's gonna fail. Most people don't need this Autism Linus, talk about something more appropriate to your audience

I would really hope anyone in the market for a server of some sort would know better than to follow LTT server guides. Unfortunately my experience with end users and some administrators tells me would try this. Then complain that esxi or windows server doesn't work right.

They need a real clustered environment with tierd storage. You don't need all of your stuff on blazing fast NVME, on one server, setup by people who have proven themselves incompetent.

Actually watching the video and those adapters scare me. I have dealt with a server where a bad backplane cable causes issues on other adapters. Add in these things and it's just adding another undeeded complex break point. The only thing servers use M.2 drives is for boot and they are usually in a dedicated raid1 card. These drives will fail and Linus' retarded need to have the most space without adequate redundancy will bite them in the ass again.

Simplicity is more often than not the best solution. Most people will simply buy a extra or external SSD for their PC, or just a big flash drive, like I'm doing rn for my laptop. You not only have made this VERY expensive server, but it's highly breakable by all accounts with no redundancy. Tell people how to make something simple that's gonna last 10+ years

There are so many better youtube channels for NAS or homelabbing shenanigans than LTT. You have wolfgang who's probably trooning out soon , Level1techs, and servethehome there's probably more out there. LTT is a joke in this regards it's not really about making a functional device to them as it is more for the content at this point and the absurdity.

Is he actually or is this a joke? Please let it be a joke... :(
I wish I was joking but why I think he's troon out material is look at his current yt channel icon also in some of his videos he has painted nails. Look at his fediverse account.

I've linked specifically to the one post that makes me go whelp.

I hope he isn't trooning out my troonoutdar is screaming.

mornin/afternoon fellow autists, linus's terrible tips have yet again shated another video out
in todays video, linus starts off complaining that people are complaining about him showcasing expensive gpus they can't afford (a valid complaint) with him fireing back asking why they are crying to him about this and aren't doing anything about it themselves (somewhat a valid complaint but he showed these gpu's in the first place so it invalidates his complaint)
he then shoves the blame onto the viewer ignoring the fact that he and many other tech review outlets are a good part of this problem and instead paints it that the viewer is the problem.
after that he forgets that not everyone is as rich as him putting away his wallet then attempting do a self own about his behavior (failing hard to do so) then proceeds to make a somewhat infomitive video about the second hand gpu market with a couple of flaws in his recommendations on how to do it and what to do in some situations.

I knew there was something wrong with him when he started shilling for the M1 Macbook.

Maybe if budget cards were given more of a spotlight, the chip makers would actually develop them more. A budget card doesn't have to be ass. You just have to accept it has limits in exchange for saving money for things like the CPU and Ram.

they do, that's where the bulk comes from. people have been whining about AMD not having a flagship card so they can jerk over charts, when their low/midrange was always what made them money.
it doesn't increase the mindshare, but it's debatable if that's worth it either, especially when nvidia likes to keep being retarded and kills any possible gains anyway.

There's also the issue of people wanting to go with Nvidia, with reasons ranging from brand loyalty or better game/driver support to specific use cases like Stable Diffusion where AMD is lacking in their offerings.

And the big issue is that Nvidia's main focus is ML hardware for enterprise clients, and the fact that Nvidia is at the top of their game, which has led their consumer grade GPU's to be set on a backburner, which is why the 40 series is so badly priced and it has such bad price to performance ratio compared to the 30 series.

They've made a substantial improvement with the new architecture, but they've castrated the lower end SKU's too badly and they've given them asinine prices to the point where you're better off looking for used 30 series cards, and they have no real obligation to make their shit affordable because neither AMD nor Intel have anything that can rival their current GPU's.

I think the only thing that can save the current state of affairs is if Nvidia's consumer GPU's sell so badly that on the next shareholder meeting Jensen will be forced to do something to make those consumer GPU's sell better to not get fucked in the ass by investors.

There's another way but it's a gamble. What Intel and AMD lacks are the ML space and very high memory(80+gb) GPU's nowadays.

The first one they both have to do like Nvidia did and still does. Give free hardware to OSS projects, people, universities and besides it, to add support to all ML libs for OCAML, OpenCL and other open ones.

A lot of people doesn't know but if you're a big ML open-source developer or a uni student and you need any ML hardware. If your project isn't on draft stage and it's not useless, you can send a report to Nvidia and they give you or to your uni not only powerful GPU but servers if needed.

their explanation for this is enterprise ones are "muh to expensive"
In their previous server video where they buy an older decommissioned one from Fleaberg Marketplace, Linus calling the used and abused drives coming with it "ewaste" might be the first time he or anyone else on the channel has accurately ragged on hardware I'm still using.

It's hilarious he calls those drives e-waste, as that is what his customer grade cheap ass NVME SSD's will become in a couple of months, because this faggot doesn't understand the difference between customer grade cheap ass NVME SSD's and enterprise NVME SSD's.
