That's another thing, the craftsmanship. Something tells me, just knowing the cost of these machines due to my welding background, not all of this was CnC machined. Probably a lot of this was old school, mills and lathes, due to the cost of getting good used ones for cheap. You can use both with extreme accuracy if you know what you're doing, its just slower, which for a start up company where $2500 means a fuck ton, would be a wise move. It's not just a metal block, it's a single piece of metal carved into a series of heat pipes or what have you. That's precision cutting that you probably have to get done in a non-shithole country like America or the UK, because getting that shit done in China is a fucking joke. They'd send you back a slab of tin with "fuk u ameirkan pigdog got ur money" engraved inside it instead.
So yeah, $2550 or so for the prototype sounds just about right.
Oh god if that trooned out ogre is outed as sexually harassing people I'll...Am I the only one who thinks an accusation of sexual harassment detracts from more interesting controversies? If Linus is directly responsible for actual sexual harassment (groping, etc) than call him out for it. If it's just some random coworker doing it than call them out individually. Every company has gross Indians and m2f sexually harassing their coworkers.
He gets a pass. You know why.Oh god if that trooned out ogre is outed as sexually harassing people I'll...
Not be very surprised at all, really. A Stunning ang Brave Lesbian, that man is.
What the fuck is wrong with these people? What does lobster man have anything to do with this?Madison has recently started tweeting about alleged unfairness at LMG, being groped and self-harming to get out of work:
(It looks like she's deleted the tweets and if that's the case I'll archive the screenshots from reddit here later, nitter.net seems to be down at the moment)
Redditors have tracked down the real mastermind behind LMG's poor working conditions: Jordan Hitler Peterson:

They should bill Linus for the hours as well the reputational damage. That copper block was likely made locally, and it was probably a mix of CNC and hand assembly. They likely assembled it themselves, labour which I bet they did not take into account but should rightfully bill Linus for.
New thread posted 25 minutes ago by Linus, with a privated video in the OP. According to the replies the video was private as soon as the thread went public.
Users are theorising that this was part of a coordinated effort to publish a response video and that the video has been delayed (possibly due to Madison's Twitter thread), but someone forgot to kill the thread, which sounds believable.
EDIT: Live on Floatplane, theory killed. Is it normal to be forced to login when clicking a Floatplane link?
All tweets (Archive)Madison posting a long-ass thread about her time at LTT (and mentioned the Glassdoor review was indeed her)
I have a ghost archive (archive.ph doesn't seem to archive Twitter threads.I was only getting one tweet at a time) in two parts but I think she's still posting:
Part 1 https://ghostarchive.org/archive/GbVBE
Part 2: https://ghostarchive.org/archive/NEtGt
Part 3?: https://ghostarchive.org/archive/5KEJ2
Edit: I think she fucked up by not threading some tweets properly, so fuck it, here's just a ghost archive of her twitter page with_replies too:
(I'm out of my depth here)
Since I am a moron who still hasn't figured out how to pot attachments on Tor for Android I would appreciate someone doing that of the threads.
There's so much there. Here's a taste:
LTT workplace environment: Kiwifarms but without the empathy in the "losing loved ones to Trans" thread. Oh, and also genitals:
Linus has messed around a lot, but nothing he does actually helps him. The only thing that matters is watch time, and poor quality videos that cause people to skip around or leave greatly reduce recommendations. Monetization has no effect on the algorithm (demonization is different because it’s a punishment). Why would YouTube care that you get paid? They get 100% of the ad revenue on a non-monetized video.I would bet the reason for this is an obsession with the YouTube algorithm and thinking that if they don’t monetize this, it will hurt the channel’s performance when they start uploading again. If my memory isn’t failing me, this thread has documented the many times Linus has fucked around with thumbnails after a video has been released to improve its performance in the algorithm.
Agree. If you're prototyping, you want that done in house before mass production. No one can see the dev process, the fuck ups, and what you learned from them. The Chinese would be all too happy to learn how you built your machine. That's why they hacked the Pentagon for the F22 and F35 plans and now look:The prototype would have cost the same in China and everywhere else. With all the shipping and labour on your end involved, it's usually more expensive to outsource prototyping.
There's also the risk of your IP just being outright stolen. It happens everywhere, but especially in China. Workers often leave and simply take all the files they can to sell off or (hopefully) for future use.

It's a mistake many youtubers run into, but most don't have a 100 soyjack army to do it. They think lots of views equals good reception, not quality equals lots of views over time, a legacy if you will. A video he pumps out today won't be remembered tomorrow. A Jontron video will, and will continually farm viewsLinus has messed around a lot, but nothing he does actually helps him. Videos that are good and recommended by the algorithm have more views than subscribers; Linus is lucky to get more than 1/15 of his subscribers to watch a video. The way to grow is to focus on quality, not on quantity and cheap tricks, and urban legends about the mystical “algorithm”.
I name Colton. James and Jake seem dudebros, but not the radioactive kind. Colton has manlet syndromeWe want the names. I'm going to throw out a wild guess, Tivvy.
