Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • Happy Easter!
he's not entirely wrong about Steve not giving him a right to reply
No he's entirely wrong. Steve Played a quote that even in full context did not change Steve's Criticism whatsoever. Oh and with the Billet Labs thing he did give Linus the chance to reply and published his reply in the video. This latest video was not (contrary to the Canadian Cuck's view of it) about Linus. It was about a lawsuit. The criticism of Linus was criticism of his reaction, using a video of him saying something retarded that was even completely in context no different than the shorter clip played by Steve. Also everything he talked about in regards to ethics, including right to reply, vary and are different from media outlet to media outlet. Ethics in Journalism is constantly being debated, and are constantly shifting. Right to Reply simply doesn't even apply in this case as Steve wasn't reporting on anything, he was giving his opinion on Linus's attitude. Right to Reply by the way is just that, the ability to reply to an accusation (note not a criticism). what did Steve accuse him of? Nothing, he disagreed with how Linus handled it. There is literally nothing to reply to. The very few vids that Steve did on Linus did not only give him the right to reply but presented those replies in the videos. Right to reply doesn't mean the person has to agree with your reply and instantly decide not to publish the story.

TL;DR
No, he's entirely wrong.

I still disagree with the right to reply but whatever. My point was more that all of this Honey stuff was overblown and that complaining that someone from another country doesn't want to join your CAL that will pay pennies in the end is faggotry
Nigga, Steve said there's this controversial clip from a bigger channel we feel we should address, here it is. He wasn't going out of his way to make a video on LTT, he was reacting to shit that people said. If you think you need to have a sit down chat with people before you talk about their public statements, you are retarded.

Steve wasn't asking for Linus to join his lawlsuit. He was just pointing out that Linus knew this info and kept it to himself, which was a point that was made in the original MegaLag video in much more detail. He then played Linus' ridiculous "everyone would hate on me more if I told them" argument (which is untrue, as the MegaLag expose was seen as overall positive by pretty much everyone). That's the entire extent of Linus in an entire hour of the video. Maybe two minutes at best, and it was all just Steve thinking it's a bit of a dick move (which it kinda was).

Linus is still just salty at the original callout to the point where steve can get him to chimp out just by mentioning him doing dumb shit. same thing with the backpack warranty.

I love how Linus will bitch and moan about having the "right to reply" but when his company is actually given it, like in the MegaLag video, they refuse to comment. He only wanted the "right to reply" because he wasn't given it and it's an easy criticism to leverage at Steve. He doesn't actually have anything to say to properly defend himself and he wouldn't care about not being given the right to reply if it was a smaller creator or something he didn't think would go viral. His company stonewalling MegaLag's request for comment demonstrates that.

How does that view have anything to do with capitalism?
Consumerism is pure unimpeded capitalism.

Did they actually decline to comment? I don't believe that was in the MegaLag video, did LMG make a statement elsewhere?

No, and I don't know why he claimed that.

They failed to comment regarding the majority of his questions but did speak a small amount of some of it with one reply. He mentions they stopped responding when he pressed them regarding all of the questions they ignored at 16:03. So while they did issue an initial response, it wasn't satisfactory and he was immediately stonewalled after.

When can we expect a response from GN? We are kind of in limbo until then.
Probably a few more days, Steve's been pretty busy, and they have nothing to gain by rushing out a response - Right now, Linus is the one who looks like a clown, and if they half ass their response, it could backfire on them.

GN just posted weekly news.
First section is about future of the channel, brought about in part by the drama.
Cliffnotes:
1. It's clear that their audience doesn't want any drama on the main channel, so they won't bring it there.
2. The post on their website linked above is them addressing latest statements from WAN show.
3. Steve reached out to Linus and Luke and offered them to meet up at the Computex.
4. There's a rift in the audience, some people want just the reviews, others only want the investigations and consumer advocacy stuff.
5. They split their content to two channels: main channel will be only about hardware, new channel will focus on investigations and CA.
6. He plans to do a podcast on the second channel, where he wants to invite Louis Rossmann, Wendell, Der8bauer, and that lawyer they feature in their videos sometimes.
7. This is the last time he mentions LMG and any related drama here, if they need to address something, it will be on the new channel.

Arrived a bit late to the party but here's my 2 cents.

While I agree that Linus is a faggot and that he's ego and narcisism is as high as the Elon Musk one, he's not entirely wrong ... that the honey drama surrounding Linus was exaggerated.

While I think Linus should have told the community about the reason he left Honey on Wan Show, like he did with other sponsors, where he would dedicate a segment of it for it.

You got down voted but yeah. I, a Certified Linus Hater, TLTTD, fuck that guy etc, agree on the point that the Honey stuff is kinda overblown, it's just basic bitch influencer stuff, we've all seen way worse than this. It's barely even what I'd qualify as irregular (On the part of Linus I mean. The thing itself is scandalous, but Linus somewhat turning a bline eye and washing his hands of it is just whatever to me)

I do sometimes get the feeling that Steve is going for the crown, and the years of dicksucking he's enjoyed have gone to his head somewhat. He's not just tech Jesus anymore, he's now also consumer advocacy Jesus. He's the second coming of Rossman. Hearing this on a daily / monthly basis year after year has gotta have some impact on a person and I personally suspect some alterior motive underpinning how hard he went after LTT last year. Not that I think it's wholly the case, but I do think it's part of the picture.

This is not to say that Linus should have dredged it up again, that's just a straight mongo move. I'll enjoy the spectacle he's provided like I did last time, I hope he gets really fucked again.
