Documented way earlier in the thread and some years ago, former LTT employees complained that Linus is a micromanager and he just can't leave people alone. I don't know if his wife could stop that behavior.

On the topic of Linus being a busybody micromanager type, does anyone else find it strange how many of LMG's vids involve Linus going into a random employee's home to 'upgrade it' with more chink IoT e-waste? Luke and some of the inner circle are one thing as I get the feeling that they've been friends for a long time, but trawling around the home of your low-level employees just seems... bizarre. I'll defend him on this one since it's basically an excuse to give his employees a bunch of free shit on someone else's dime (generally Intel, I don't know if any other companies started sponsoring these videos, haven't watched in forever). I don't have a boss anymore but when I did if all it took to get $5000 worth of free shit that I actually wanted was to clean my tech room enough that I wouldn't be mortified to have my boss make an asshole of himself in front of a large youtube audience while inside of it I'd do it in a heartbeat

Since he mentioned not suing but still mentioned consequences, I'd guess he's trying to imply he could get GN blacklisted by sponsors or the powers that be at youtube. Since he's a woke TDS crybully, that method of retaliation will come very naturally to him.

I think Steve could sue in Canada as that was where Linus made the statement, and Canadian defamation law is much more strict than the US standard.

IANAL but I'm sure making threats in an attempt to force negotiation will be different from making defamatory statements of unclearly defined ethical issues.

The real reason for Linus not to sue would be that justification by truth is a defense against defamation (in every country) and a proper audit of all their screwups in court would sink them.

Linus doesn't seem to know that most of his content only survives because no one's been autistic enough to scrutinize it at depth. I only thought about this know but he should've been scared enough to completely revamp his whole video pipeline after the expose video. If LTT continues on its current path of low effort content, someone is going to cash out on that negligence eventually.

As suggested by @mandatorylurk, I think he only addressed this since his recent appearance on that late night tv show has raised his numbers a bit. Maybe the CEO or company stakeholders wanted to release a statement to "hit back".

I don't know whoever else would've signed off on it but they should be avoiding all chances of public scrutiny of their work because what GN uncovered in their expose was only the tip of the iceberg.

On the one hand I can kind of agree with Anthony's frustration there, motherboard RAID is godawful and no sane setup should ever make use of it. On the other hand, the task was specifically to recover the data, and I don't think there's actually any way to install Windows directly on a RAID volume, so as a computer repair guy you should still check for this, rescue the files from the RAIDed setup, remove the RAID, and then restore the files.

I didn't think about just how creepy this is. I can only stand to watch a minute or two of the ones posted here, but he always looks around for stolen office supplies too.

I've also noticed just how spartan their home's are. Like if it were just one or two, you could say those employees are minimalist. But when it's most of them, it's kinda clear that working for LTT pays shit. I might clean up my place and let cameras in for $5k too .. but I also get paid well enough I wouldn't need to.
