Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • Happy Easter!
That is such a big claim, and sounds like baloney. Do you have a link to these claims?
No because one time use coupon codes like that are only ever sent directly from the company to the consumer. So the consumer would have to publish it. A Youtuber or "Influencer" can publish limited use coupons, i.e. "The first 500 people who use code LINUSISAFAG get 50% off their purchase". But they are the ones who publish those, and if they publish them to Honey as well wouldn't particularly matter, even if they were pressured. Those always get used up within minutes anyways. If it was part of a refund or store credit etc than the company would have to take the hit and send another one, otherwise they risk getting fined by law. What they are describing is ridiculously stupid and not a single person has claimed that single use coupons get put on Honey.

Let's make it simple for everyone
Linus not telling peers about affiliate switching: Bad, unethical, slimy, snaky, faggotry
Honey doing the affiliate switching: At best ethically gray
Honey not entering better coupons that are available from their partner because they are paid not too: Definitely false advertising, likely criminal fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud.

None of the Honey sperging should even be in this thread other than to be a retard to defend Linus, or to rightfully point him out for the faggot snake that he is. The Honey stuff will be decided by the courts even if all the cases get thrown out, because that is a decision on the cases' merits by a judge, whether you agree with the judge or not.
Stop shitting up the thread more than Linus shit's up tech.

Related with his recent LTT video, Louis Rossmann is probably the only tech YouTuber left out there that hasn’t succumbed to the corporate-washing most other tech YouTubers have been caught in (Linus being the prime example here).

Mental Outlaw is another tech YouTuber who hasn’t been affected by that washing (I know unrelated, but he’s genuinely great).

If you actually cared about internet tracking you wouldn't be wasting your time complaining about an irrelevant and optional extension.
-Linus claims to be a consumer advocate
-Claims to be fighting for consumers
-Claims his sponsors are vetted and that his sponsorships are ethical and not misleading
-Has visibly disowned sponsors before
-He received information about what Honey was doing
-He didn't do anything, and justified it by saying it would've been too much of a PR risk to speak out

How is he in the right on this?
It’s loathsome, but there are very few browser extensions not doing this, and you don’t even need extensions to run into this issue, Facebook and Klarna and whoever else is already scraping and selling this data without any input from you whatsoever.
AFAIK, no extension is passing itself off as a cupon finder while taking affiliate commissions. And no extension seems to be as virally shilled as Honey. Scraping isn't done on false pretenses while what Honey is doing is.
Louis keeps saying this himself, so I don't see what the big own is.
@teriyakiburns The big own is that not having a girlfriend makes his argument wrong; see Rule 1 of reddit.

Linux Tube is fairly tame when it comes to sponsorships. Some do have sponsors but they're harmless enough or are FOSS themselves. They at least put their money where their mouth is; or don't take that money at all.

Now is that intentional, accidental, incompetence, misinformation? Who knows, but that is not the same as stopping a working 3rd party code.
It's intentional as stated explicitly in the honey podcast that has been clipped literally 2 posts above yours:
Wrong again. Its evident you guys barely paid attention during the videos.
It's evident you're a hypocritical faggot.

Ill shill some other good tech youtubers:
ExplainingComputers: an old british guy who talks about Linux, risc-v, and other hobbyist hardware stuff

Trafotin: Some South Korean Vtuber guy who does a lot of good guides about Linux

Then related to Linus I'd like to shill this guy called Bog who mostly does Mac based content, but he did a very similar video about Linux to what Linus did where he covered the beginning user experience of Linux and how it could be improved. Unlike Linus who acted like a retard, through up his hands, and said it was too hard this Mac Youtuber Read the Fucking Manual, attempted to actually understand how to use Linux, pointed out some unclear new user things, and ultimately made a guide to help people interested in the topic learn how to use Linux. Compare this to Linus who just goes MUH SteamOS just wait until desktop SteamOS rather then using his massive platform to maybe do a basics of Linux series for people interested like how he did his basics of leaving Google series. This random, solo guy basically did Linus's Linux daily driver challenge better then he could with an entire dedicated support team.

There actually is another extension doing this - Capital One is getting sued for this now as well, as they are running a shopping browser extension auto applying coupons which seems to be replacing referral cookies: https://www.businessinsider.com/inf...g-browser-extension-affiliate-payments-2025-1 (paywalled, but readable on Archive.ph: https://archive.ph/YELen)

In Steve's signature:
>會說中文。如果比較容易,我們可以用中文
(Can speak Chinese. If it is easier, we can use Chinese.)
I'm not sure what to say of this, I find it both cute and quite endearing because it's obviously not a soulless Google translate job. It's like listening to one of my younger relatives try and greet me in English (or grammatically, the English language).
I can see why Tech Jesus has no borders, he's universally liked.
I like that Steve decided to learn Chinese because he wanted to know exactly what his interlocutor was saying so he wouldn't be fed bullshit by the translator.

Well Linus does have a reputation of treating smaller creators like shit.
At 13:08 discount Daniel Craig talks about his personal dealings with Linus, one particular case at a tech event (Corsair party) stands out where him and a bunch of other smaller PC building youtubers approached him only for Linus to snap out "Who the hell are all of you, leave me alone peasants".
I think Chris Titus had a similar story, maybe he was in that group.

It also lets him deal with people one on one. Which is always nicer than everything going through a translator. And it lets him wander the random tech stores all over the place without relying on google translate and being one of *those* americans.

It's a genius business move when most of your interactions are with asian companies.

LTT cucks trying to compare grayjay to honey. I'm not sure what they are trying to accomplish with this.

Just watched Louis's video and I'm furious.

I can't explain how it felt watching a full grown man just sit there and curse and repeat same points over and over again in an hour long video. I mean he has one valid point that linus could've just told everybody about why they stopped working with honey on main channel but except for that he was just "quoting" and cursing and it was disgusting to watch. Now, I don't know if all of you will have the same opinion and my thinking could be influenced because I have been a fan and watching ltt for a long time, but all I could see was him criticizing linus over something he did not even do. I could not find any video on his channel about honey which is THE scam. Even if he talked about it why is there no dedicated video when he makes himself "the good guy" who cares for consumers and his viewers.
I'll just stop here cuz I might start cussing at him and I don't want to stoop down to his level.
