Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
Watching Linus vs gamers Nexus feels like finding family Guy shit Funny when you're a teenager, And then discovering blazing saddles as an adult.

It's about the QUALITY Linus. Nobody gives a shit about your McMansion.
LTT has a weird identity crisis where they want to be the Mr Beast of tech but at the same time a serious tech review outlet. They would do better if they just pivoted to honest slop content instead of this current halfway thing. Linus would never accept that of course, because he wants to be the tech messiah that's taken seriously.

While DS9(Deep Space 9) and VOY(Voyager) was shot on film, the effects of both series was done after converting the film to analog, so for you to remaster it, you would need to basically recreate and re-do all VFX, making it very expensive for a remaster.

While DS9 had a lot more digital effects than TNG (*cough* Odo *cough*), the model effects were shot on film for most of the show's run, until the last few seasons with their large fleet/battle scenes. Voyager also started out purely practical but transitioned into like 90% CG by the end (the remaining 10% being stock footage from early seasons).

The production company responsible for most of TV Trek's CG, Foundation Imaging, went bust decades ago, however the people involved still have archives and backups of their work. Since it was all done in Lightwave, it would be as simple as importing and re-rendering in HD. You'd be genuinely surprised at how well the effects hold up.

Apparently they started moving towards CG with both Ds9 and Voyager, and fully switched by Ds9 season 6 and VOY season 4. One of the giveaways in Ds9 was the fleet shots, they went from being mostly old ships like Excelsior, and Miranda with a few Galaxy class ships to including almost all the ships that were introduced by First Contact in the Akira, Steamrunner and Saber classes. (the Norway class got dropped because they apparently lost or corrupted the CG files) The Nebula class too got a CG model in VOY season 4, and became the USS Bonchune, named after the guy who did the CG model work. (The registration is a play on his DOB)

Thank you! I could n't quite put my finger on that little fagot Mr. Beast's name. That stupid soy jack face just pisses me right off. Call it power leveling but my mother in law swear she has this disability called pots where she babbles like a baby and every time she does it out in public. Of course I want to smash her fucking skull in... I get the same blinding rage with Linus's soy Jack face

Speaking of glazing Steve, he has finally uploaded a video on the new Gamers Nexus Consumer Advocacy channel.
Obviously the decision to put this type of content on a brand new channel leads to it pulling in laughable numbers, and by extent reach, but hopefully it'll pick up soon now that the channel has became active.

I'm not sure if this has already been discussed, but LTT views are dropping steeply.

While on the other hand GamerNexus seems to be doing quite well in the same time period.

Crazy how GN's views and revenue is up despite losing 60k parasocial canadian nuthuggers according to that site. Even crazier that LTT's views and revenue has nosedived despite apparently gaining 400,000 newly connected BIGGEST FAN SAAR SEND PC PLS! jeet subs.

Did they slow down their upload schedule by any chance? Its pretty safe to assume they wind down vids when the sponsor market is cold; I can imagine that a financial genius like Troonus doesn't see the value of making vids if wads of sponsor cash are not involved. BTW which site is that?

Its very unlikely that ad-revenue is a significant income source for LMG. Their business model is built around industrial-scale shilling and merch. GN has a patreon and also does merch. Its more or less mandatory to have 2nd and 3rd (alternatively, read reliable) income sources if you're a non-hobbyist youtuber in 2025 since the ad market is volatile.

People really over-estimate ad revenue for large youtube channels and streamers these days. Tectone basically admitted not too far back that his ad revenue was close to only being a single digit percentage of his actual income, and he just streams games and shit. As large as LMG is, at most their ad revenue is going to be a quarter of the total maybe? I believe it was Rossmann in a video(tried looking, can't find it) who had an old copy of Linus' rates for ads and sponsors and the shit started in the mid 5 figure range and just goes up from there. The fact is that a business can spend a fuck ton of money on Linus' stupid ass channel from their marketing budget instead of paying for a TV commercial, youtube ad of their own, billboard, etc and be guaranteed to get pretty good reach with it and of course a positive spin no matter what it is due to Linus being seen as an "expert" regarding anything tech. Afterall, it's the same reason MKBHD can make the money he does just making boring videos going over surface level bullshit on a regular basis.

Millions of dollars in marketing budgets for massive companies. Don't have to produce and ad of their own, and pay for it to be run for weeks hoping to see results. Instead they can just drop product and cash in the laps of people like Linus, let them produce and publish the content. Get almost immediate feedback in terms of view counts, comments, etc. The company making the product didn't produce the video themselves so idiot buyers see it as an "independent" video, they can claim to "review the features of the product" without actually providing a proper review of the quality/function of the product(different than something like GN, jayz2cents, etc who just get a free video card or whatever on occasion to benchmark and compare to others but even they aren't immune to the bullshit. I think it was 6 figures that jayz2cents said he was owed by EKWB for shilling their products in his build videos when they started having their financial issues? but he also publicly admitted it), and like I said they get to have someone considered by the retarded public talking about their product as an "expert".

Fuck, it's no different than the unbox therapy guy who gets paid to say headphones sound great and bob his head pretending to be listening to music while he rubs the packaging in the video. But the general public just doesn't see this shit as the obvious advertising it is, and the shills are careful enough to avoid language the FTC(or equivalent) would be on their ass about. And on occasion they spend their own money on some dumb shit for content which further makes their retarded audience believe they're "honest".

Its been a mystery to me but most 99% of people are not like those you see on the farms or gaming forums. They are people who will see something they recognize and throw money at it compulsively. Do you think Pewdiepie's game (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PewDiePie:_Legend_of_the_Brofist#cite_note-13) sold because of its artstyle or gameplay? Influencer marketing bring in plenty of real buyers; its just that those people don't make posts on forums or care about anything other than the guy presenting the ad.
Considering his tardrage against adblockers it would lead one to assume that youtube ads aren't an insignificant amount.
His ad revenue is probably huge but I don't think it will make up more than 10% of his total revenue. Its not that all those vids won't bring in decent ad money, its just that his business overall is geared more toward sponsorships and merch.

Of course. People who understand how any of this shit actually works are a small fraction compared to the audience, and the number of those willing to discuss it is even smaller. As far as the stupid game, might be fun I don't know anything about it or care. At the very least it's his own "product" with his name on it, and that would be similar to the stupid LTT screwdriver, backpack, and other dumb shit. It's just a different form of merch for these people.

But that's not the same as some multinational company dumping $200k into lap of Linus, MKBHD, etc to make videos showing the latest bullshit off to the general public while they ooh and ahh about how amazing it is. The general public has gotten so used to be advertised to, that they don't even seem to notice or care when something is obviously "sponsored" compared to actually doing a deep dive into the product.

Funnily in the new linus video he claims to have hired advisors to help him choose a new Tim Apple computer.

I watched through the whole video.

Do you want to know how many words said advisor(s) spoke?

Zero.

Also weirdly this video's intro also does not have any flavor text.

My reply to this video... well...

1. Regardless if it's a opinion type of show, why is fuck are you going out of your sphere of influence?
2.. is it possible that you are running out of ideas and are trying to ride on the current types of news?

Yes housing prices are insane in Canada and elseware but I sure as fuck don't want to hear it or get any sort of information from a dude who bent the knee during the peaceful protests, nor see anymore about him and his McMansion.

Yes you have your opinions but fuck you are a TECH channel andthis is a bit out of left field to see this.

Stay in your lane dude.

I doubt this is anything to do with recent dramas but probably because his videos were so cookie cutter and "designed for da algorithm" that the algorithm (and people) ended up getting bored of them. I think even Mr.Beast's views peaked a while ago.

It may finally be that da algorithm is done with slop factories like LTT + Mr.Beast. One can only dream.

His ad revenue is probably huge but I don't think it will make up more than 10% of his total revenue. Its not that all those vids won't bring in decent ad money, its just that his business overall is geared more toward sponsorships and merch.
Yes but the rates he can command will be directly correlated to how many views he is bringing in. So if his views go down, eventually companies won't want to pay as much for the sponsor slots.

What's with LTT readily releasing a bunch of dorky looking clothes? "Everyone needs shirts right? Why don't we make our own blank shirts! Genius!"
From his perspective, why not. It isn't like his audience understands a damned thing about any sort of fashion, clothing quality, etc. MKBHD sold shoes for fucks sake, who the hell wants to buy shoes without trying them on first? Especially at $200.

$200 shoes from a techtard techtuber? The shit people will spend money on...

Not to say I don't waste money on themed merch, but $200 on a single consumable item is steep, even for a person I like.
