Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Youtube thumbnails are supposed to be really simple. I even went on Discord for you and asked around, what people thought the video was about (n=7). They either had no clue or thought it had something to do with Dell's customer support. They all said the thumbnail was bad. Not one person guessed that the video is about Linus secret shopping different system integrators.

I have no idea how you're unable to see the very fucking glaring issues with the thumbnail. It's really, really bad. Even we forget the composition and storytelling issues, what are the colors? What is their thumbnail designer doing with the colors? You simply cannot justify the colors.

I don't want to powerlevel too much. But you have zero idea what you're talking about. You're wrong. And you have no taste.

The video is also performing worse than their typical video. It's the second worst video they've released in their past 10 uploads. The only videos with fewer views are livestream VODs or literally ads.

He is such a parvenu. That hideous house is way too large for that tiny garden to begin with, but then he had to install a pool to cut his garden down even more.
Holy shit do not get me started on the McMansion plague of roofs with ten unnecessary angles, trusses creating massive empty ceiling spaces, and every one of them built to the micron of the set back.

Would LMG even be able to do anything remotely like this? GN has a lot of relationships with a lot of people in industry he's built over a decade. He's gotten in pretty well with these groups by doing factory tour videos. Linus is too much of a retard to even think about covering tariffs to this kind of depth, nor does LMG's quick video turnaround times even allow for constructing something of this detail.
I think there is a bit more to it than that. Gamers Nexus is a very small shop in comparison and it is likely that Steve personally speaks with many of their contacts. He also will be the one asking questions and just based on his personality I think he is very straight forward with his contacts on what he is looking for and why he is looking for it. By comparison one of the first things Linus did was hire a sponsor and marketing contact man. This ensures revenue but it means that an non technical underling is talking to a non technical underling.

I am sure everyone else here who works in business to business knows that once you have a competent contact at a company you treat it well. You do not want to be tossed back to the bottom of customer support. Gamers Nexus has also provided value for the market by doing actual testing on different configurations of cases. This shows an honest interest in the "nuts and bolts" of computer hardware and a willingness to work with a company that he will also excoriate for poor choices.

Linus built a brand, Steve built a company.

Though if the claimed 30 to 60 million a year of revenue is true then LTT is worth a lot more than 100 million. (:_(:heart-empty:

Imagine being such a retarded grifter you take sponsorships that are so garbage and bullshit, it gets you phonebooked in a country that doesn't have banks selling your phonebook to brokers within a few minutes. That's an accomplishment.

So what has this retard been up to anyway?

:story: Content farm slop.

Oh look, the thumbnail is clickbait! No, it's actually not. There's been so much bullshit flying around. Parts are not exempt, the tariffs aren't a flat 145% and China or wherever would NOT be paying that tariff.
This was honestly one of the best videos they've ever made.

Very cool GN, you turned me into a paypig.

Fuck LTT.
Core difference between LTT and GN is that LTT is utterly committed to the daily upload schedule. They simply can't stop, won't stop that train. This means that LTT needs to make a lot of filler (jumping on trends like "I bought all this off wish!") while GN is content to upload 2 times a week, maybe 3. LTT has also committed to making everything look big budget and professional, with constant editing, numerous sets, numerous hosts and more. GN is content to point camera at thing, and their office is comparatively spartan.

GNs "low effort" content is the news round up, where they just do loosely scripted talking head content with a little snark for levity. While the production effort is low, it's all information that is hotly relevant to nerds interested in PCs.

LTT in the other hand, utterly committed to the daily upload schedule, will throw their legion of editors, expensive sets and such at shitty video ideas. From a strict cinematography angle LTT is better, but the core content just isn't there. LTT really doesn't do low effort content, they go full effort on the worst scripts and ideas imaginable.

The WAN show wasn't that eventful outside of the above Kitboga episode being hinted at, and Yvonne is apparently getting a new car. I guess their Porsche SUV they got just 2-3 years ago just wasn't good enough.

They don't post daily since a few scandals ago. Most days a week but not daily.

Didn't Linus in a video after the Gamers Nexus drama say that he would not be as committed to doing daily uploads so there could be some semblance of quality control? I remember that one of the complaints of LTT being their dedication to daily uploads resulted in many errors and false reports in whatever it is they made a video about.

It ultimately resulted into fucking nothing because LTT still makes shit videos even if they have a day between uploads.

He started doing like 2 uploads a week for a while before he had to start shoveling out videos again.

Does this retard actually know anything about computers?
wrvddgrvwwrvdegdegrvw - Copy.webp
"plenty of ventilation" he says while looking at a front panel half blocked off for absolutely no reason. There is literally no reason to ever block off 50% of the front panel, I go on amazon and literally every single case on the first page has a full mesh front panel. And then, despite talking shit about the non biodegradable packing foam, only briefly mentions that oh yea the motherboard is entirely propitiatory and literal ewaste and seemingly the case is too. Nah that's fine, the bits of foam however that's a sin. Aside from he then praises literally the next computer for using expanding foam packaging which as far as I'm aware is just as (non)biodegradable as the other types of shipping foam? Good computer review from the largest computer channel.

Even then the next computer he also says has good ventilation despite having an entirely solid front panel with a tiny 1cm wide hole running around it. My mother knows nothing about computers at all and even she would say that's dogshit ventilation.

It's actually worse than that. The top off being a solid panel probably reminds him of the days with cases with a set of 5.75" drive bays no one has needed in ages. The actual "ventilation" on that bottom panel is complete shit. Sure there's a bunch of holes, but they're tiny as fuck and I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least 50% blocked off due to the design.

There's some bullshit holes around the edge of the front bezel that again aren't going to do much due to how restricted the airflow is. And then the side panel... again incredibly restrictive and there's no ventilation on the top, backside of the motherboard, or bottom of the case at all.

He complains more about the fucking packing foam. The grill areas on the back of the case are the only thing reasonable. But you can see even before opening the case that the top section is almost entirely obstructed internally and externally. Inside the case you can see the top rear is almost entirely blocked by one of the 3.5" drive cages. The internal front mesh exists but is almost entirely blocked by the front of the case. The metal rear exhaust fan mount as well as the 3.5." drive cages are overdesigned for no fucking reason and they'll serve to simply drive up cost. The CPU cooler is a bullshit stock type CPU cooler. "I had trouble finding 1x32GB sticks"shows an entire fucking page of 56 listings from pcpartpicker.

These people are fucking stupid.

You don't want those in a case like this. It's a front-to-back design, if you look at it from the side and draw arrows for how the air will move through it, you'll see that air comes in at the front, goes through the GPU and CPU, and exits at the back and side. That's actually exactly what you want. If there had been ventilation on the top a lot of the air would exit the case before passing the CPU, cooling nothing at all really (well, maybe the RAM, but that doesn't need more than very mild airflow, which it gets from the CPU cooler anyway). It's not how a gaming PC would typically be laid out, but it's a perfectly good way to do it nonetheless, especially when the computer is rarely going to draw more than 200W anyway.

It's my experience that Dell are generally quite competent in terms of hardware. Yeah the motherboards and PSUs aren't replaceable, but nobody but Dell is replacing parts in these computers anyway. And those replacements are done under warranty, ie they're swapping the rare failed PSU for an idenitical one. Someone might plug in a new GPU once in a blue moon, but those are rare Dell customers and chances are their new GPU will work perfectly well with the stock PSU anyway.

This is probably the first Dell computer I've actually liked in a video like this. The airflow is much improved over those Alienware things. Even if it isn't quite up to par with the likes of the Fractal Torrent, for a low-end computer like this, I think the cooling here is perfectly fine. I would have preferred a CPU cooler with heat pipes and sheet fins rather than solid milled aluminium (which is what that cooler appears to be), but for a 65W CPU I don't blame them for cheaping out, they'll be able to get away with it.
