No it was socialist. Marxist socialism is a transitional stage in which the state nationalizes all industry for the benefit of the people. The ultimate goal is communism- a stateless, classless, ideal society. Most of what you hear about it is Western pro-capitalist propaganda.

America takes freedom seriously, a lot more than most Western countries and social-fascist regimes like the USSR and China. Its a great place to live if you don't want to go to kangaroo court for hate speech like in Canada. Their Supreme Court ruled in favour of Nazis protesting in a Jewish community because it was their free speech right to do so. Its a good place to live if you have controversial opinions and niche interests. There is lots of consumer variety and you can buy a lot of stuff online with free shipping and niche products like goth, extreme metal, sjw, third wave feminist, ethical fair trade organic etc. versions of normal products if you want.
