Live Action Halo TV Series - Debuting March 24, 2022 - Has Paramount+ learned from the Star Trek debacle or will they double down? Time will tell.

Nope the show is literally Paramount's most successful show right now if anything the show might get a bigger budget for season 2.
It doesn't matter how many people watch it or talk about it. It's still terrible Netflix-Adaptation-style diversity-pandering dog shit with nonsensical writing, wooden acting, and zero respect for canon.

You can literally pessimistically describe that with any popular shows nowadays, to the vast majority of normies, to paraphrase what you said, "it doesn't matter". The show is a success for Paramount & managed to garner the casual audience who have never even heard of Halo or played the games to watch & like it which was always the main target audience the show was going for.

I admit I am genuinely interested to see how they would adapt the battle of reach and what comes after. We'll get something neat to look at and edit and there is the faint possibility they'll try and course correct a bit to appease fans. However, if it is somehow popular I dont see it staying that way.

It just feels too insane and off the wall to make me think they have an actual structure or endgame to their plot. Most shows that dont give a shit about franchise continuity tend to have poor internal continuity as well. Such as Picard, Discovery, and obi wan.

I just can't understand it. I watched it on 2x and it was still boring and the fight scenes weren't even that great. The Korean mongols in space thing was funny but nothing else was really entertaining. I assume it was driven by Paramount wanting to pander to Korean audiences or something.

The only bit where anything approaching drama/action was really seen was the fight between the Spartans in the final episode.

The story and action sequences could have been cut to 3-4 20 minute episodes without losing anything.

Hey everyone, I hope you've had a good year and a half or so, because it's about to get worse!

Episode 1 of season 2 (edit: as well as episode 2, my bad) just came out. I'm happy to report that
Spartans are now fucking around talking about animal TV shows while providing overwatch on missions, and that Chief got jumped by a squad of Elites each wearing Arbiter armor. Also, Master Cheeks got emotional because of some spiritual leader telling him to get spiritual. That's in the first 15 minutes.

Also, Keyes is now a fucking admiral, and Ackerson is a random mid 30s ONI civilian. ONI are all civilians now, and they all wear identical suits like a CIA caricature! Parangosky, the most dangerous human alive, got sacked from her job like a janitor who failed to properly clean a toilet.
Good times.

Oh yeah, almost forgot,
everyone knows about Halsey and every minute detail of the Spartan program.

If I were the showrunner on Halo, I would shoot the whole damn thing like Mad Max: Fury Road. Maximum action, minimum dialogue. No showing the Chief's face, period. Just scenes like this, back-to-back. No whiny arguments, no bonking, no nothing. Characterization by actions, not words. Plus, I would've had Steve Downes overdub the Chief and the mocap done by stuntmen. Very simple. How can you even screw it up?

This show reminds me of Karen Traviss's phenomenally shitty Halo novelizations. No research at all, only barely-disguised contempt for the setting and the premise. The aesthetics of Halo are being used to dress up a completely different story, for a completely different audience.

The people at the media industry (the same fuckers who have money to travel to Epstein's private island) only do research from a single Wikipedia article and pretend to act that they're fans of the games.

I forgot this show was a thing. Friends and I finished re/watching Battlestar Galactica, and now re/watching Halo.

It's such a shame too because you can tell the stunt coordinators did the research. It's like a taste of a timeline we should ve living in.

Episode 3

We have moments with Ackerson and
his dad for some reason. Unnecessary in a Halo show, but sad and well acted nonetheless. It turns out the reason he’s mad at the Spartan program, and everyone in it, is that his sister failed out of the Spartan 2s. The clones that he’s been sending Halsey are clones of her.

Keyes is an asshole and has little of the qualities of his in-universe counterpart. So is Master Chef, since he
loses his shit in front of his everyone and looks pretty stupid while doing so. He’s a man of god now though, so he’s got that going for him, which is nice.

The Rubble subplot is still useless.
Kwan now has slightly better hair and has turned into Arya Stark, expertly killing everyone in her path (???).

Spartan 028 visits
a gay couple and has a grand old time discussing her feelings around wine and movies. Again, somewhat well acted, but makes no god damned sense in a Halo show.

How the Fall of Reach starts:
A whole team of Spartan 2s get wiped the fuck out: some elite probably gets a Killtastic. Contrary to the lore, ONI is fully aware of the Covenant’s presence on Reach. FROM THE OUTSET, THEY DECIDE TO COMPLETELY ABANDON THE MOST STRATEGICALLY IMPORTANT PLANET HUMANITY HAS AND NOT DO ANYTHING TO FIGHT BACK.

I was sad before. Now, I am sadder.

"YAAS, they be standin' up for us, y'all! Take THAT any of y'all homophobic chuds"

You've got to be kidding, the idea of putting globohomo/ESG shit is both redundant and tragic that it makes me wish that nepotistic "writers" and "actors" should not be allowed to touch a video game ever again

Good to know that the man literally named after a bible verse has finally found God.

Why the fuck are pirates going about capturing and interrogating some house wife in the most roundabout way possible? Soren's in prison, she's built like a twig, has no influence and you're pirates; just grab her and bag her. Why are you even trying to cover up what you did? Do you think the other criminals on your shithole will judge you for killing your captain?

"I fear that the devil follows you" What the fuck does that mean, you literally loved the Chief the last time he visited? Why is the show putting so much importance on some random family?

You know, the rubble's filler, but at least something is happening in it. Halsey's scene literally seem to just exist to give the actress something to do.
