According to Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick:

Senate Bill 20, by Sen. Pete Flores, creates a new state felony offense for the possession or promotion of obscene visual material that appears to depict a child younger than 18 years old, regardless of whether the depiction is of an actual child, cartoon or animation, or an image created using AI or other computer software.

So essentially, if you create and/or sell/distribute animated CP in Texas and you’re discovered, regardless of whether you created it using AI or any computer software for that matter, it’s a felony. The policing depends on the imagery itself, whether a court can show a jury a picture of it (non-explicit, of course) and reasonably assume it’s depicted like a clear child to avoid any sort of argumentation. Whether that affects high school-age lolicon, I don’t know.

Anime child porn is technically illegal in the US and the west anyway, but with all the seething going on, I don’t know how it’s being enforced.
