Yeah, the family promotion and 'natalism' angle makes zero sense. You're playing as a single guy who reluctantly picks up a robot sidekick. The guy comes to terms with his bias and hatred against robots with his friendly sidekick robot. It can be literally anything besides a child, and the concept can still work. But family values and wanting to promote pregnancy? Where's the mother in this picture? This isn't even your kid, and it's not even real in a fictional standpoint, but a robot. Is this what people want? To be eternally single and to adopt robot kids. Sounds dystopian to me, and if this is Japan's answer towards their birth rate crisis, then it will only worsen because of this.

To me, Pragmata has really just exposed how awfully retarded & pedophilic people have become (at least in the online sphere). Objectively speaking, there's nothing wrong with the premise of the game despite it being made by a Japanese studio. I think stories like these can be heartwarming. But very clearly, the reaction to this game is something else. On one end, you have people overthinking the premise of the game, thinking that it was directly made for pedophiles. Maybe to a certain extent, the marketing team is pandering to lolicons given the recent controversy over the crying Diana emoji. But on the opposite end, you have the most blatantly pedophilic gooners imaginable coming out of the woodworks talking about how they want to fuck Diana. I still can't get over the tweet some faggot made where they were geniunely complaining about Diana's upskirt being censored.

Regardless, thanks to this constant negative feedback loop of people assuming that the game was made to appeal to pedophiles, with actual freaks calling for nudity mods to be made of Diana & publicly gooning to her, any resemblance of a normal conversation surrounding the quality & intentions of the game have been muddied.

The Japanese absolutely know what they're doing when they're pandering to fetishists. I don't think the entire development team are all pedophiles, but at least some of them have to be. And like I said earlier in the thread, I think the barefoot aspect of her design was deliberate to appeal to foot fetishists. There's no logical reason for why she had to be barefoot the whole game (I know there's a bullshit "lore" reason but that's so obviously to cover up the foot fetish reality). Other Japanese characters, like the protagonist, Corrin/Kamui, of Fire Emblem Fates, were designed as deliberately barefoot too, once again probably because of the foot fetish thing. I don't think a "lore reason" was ever even given for why Corrin had to be barefoot the whole game either. The Japanese put their fetishes into their media all the time.

I'm not sure if this is true, but someone once told me that part of the appeal of feet for foot fetishists is that "feet are the youngest looking part of the body", which is why a lot of pedophiles are also into feet. I'm not saying all foot fetishists are pedophiles though.

I think the barefoot thing works with the lack of visible pants to imply that she’s naked under the oversized coat. Sort of like when you see a woman in an oversized sleep shirt that covers her underwear, you look and just see a shirt and then bare legs, your brain thinks she’s not wearing underwear. It also gives them plausible deniability, they can point to the coat and say it makes it less revealing of her body’s shape and therefore more modest, but really the implied nakedness makes it more titillating.

This is my thought too tbh. They could’ve easily just gave her shoes or some bottom garments without the game even changing that much, but they chose not to. Giving some weird lore reason to have her be barefoot definitely comes off as just an excuse. I’ve honestly always wondered why feet out of all body parts seem to be the most fetishized, even though I think feet are actually gross (I hate feet), but being the “youngest looking part of the body” is definitely a thunk-provoking explanation for it. I wonder how that even makes any sense? Why not hands? It is because hands tend to show age more or something?

I can relate. Normally I can enjoy dark and fucked up jokes like Kenny dying in South Park. However, it's not funny when it's repeated over and over again by people you come to realize are actual pedos. Threads on /a/ go to shit when talking about any show with child characters. I have been looking forward to Witch Hat Atelier getting an anime since it was announced two years ago.
