Yeah its definitely a sign that implies certain things to come. This is exactly the kind of crazy he starts spouting before he starts to revert to angry entitled lucas and does something stupid. Usually ending with a commitment or an eviction, or both. He isn't exactly picking a good time to go off the meds either given the cold weather isn't too far away and spring is a long way off. To say nothing of the fact lucas was extremely lucky to have been able to get into mallon place. If he fucks that up theres nothing else for him in spokane. Its leave town or jump between shelters until he fucks that up. Though if he gets the boot I suspect he'll spiral into worsening health and end up hospitalized or dead within a couple months. Yeah its definitely voices on the wind related. Like the earbuds before them I doubt they're even connected to anything. Notice lucas is using his phone as a camera but you don't see the cord on the headphones in a position that would imply they're attached to the phone. He may as well just wear earplugs . Walking around wearing headphones just makes him look like he escaped from a mental hospital

From what I can tell those look like cheap JLAB bluetooth headphones, $40 max, so he might well be listening to something. That said, I guarantee those have been in so many recent pictures because he thinks he is showing off and will attract zoomers.

I think Lucas is doing the opposite. Crazy babbling so he can stay in whatever place he's at now, so he's not homeless in the cold again. I may be overestimating him, granted.
If anything a scheme like that would backfire. After all at some point he'd put himself in a situation where they'd tell him he's acting too unhinged for the safety of the residents so either take his meds or gtfo either to the street or the nuthouse. He's already a long term resident so he has no need to attempt a plan like that.
