No ten years older. It's not that surprising really if it's real that is. I said it before and I say it again, somebody of Lucas' age having a mid-20s girlfriend isn't actually all that rare. It's just Lucas being Lucas that's the problem here.

I've expanded on it before Lucas is just a scum bag in regards to his EBT, but legally he can't get it pulled. The way the system is it lets you be a total dirt bag literal and figuratively. Lucas is both. He's disabled because he's a schizo so he's entitled to his tard bux. He wastes it on food he can't afford. Sadly the laws aren't tighter or better written. Trying to get his tard bux pulled is fruitless. He's hopelessly mentally ill and won't get better even if he wasn't a creep of a person his mental illness is just that crippling.

Well that's interesting then. I have no idea why people try to reason with him in any way but it seems always to be mostly women when they do.
He'll never go to college. There's no point in really fantasizing scenarios that might happen. I have my theory on why some people, mostly women try on him. Women are more prone to empathy, as well show a larger caring for their own kind. Lucas if you don't know seems like a deeply messed up and tragic case (in ways he is even if you know him) taking two seconds to talk to someone and give em some life advice and pick up advice isn't much vested. Other thing if they get Lucas is down right scary at times, girls look out for each other more so they kinda are telling him to tone it down both for his own benefit but to keep others safe.

So really we know he's eating more, the base line people use is 2k so Lucas is eating roughly 3 people's food needs of the day.
Lucas is fat enough he could melt weight off. If he ate the avg daily intake, of clean things and walked. 3k cals is a lb. So yes he could shed a pound a day for a while. Factor in water weight etc, he could be losing 10lbs a week if he really was dedicated. As well as help control his beetus, boost his over all health and morale, cut his food bill.
So yea, the fact he's already on the dole, eats at places working class can't afford and eating about 2 times more what he needs is why we call it wasteful. Aside it being wasteful, beetus ain't free he's on meds for that. So he's spending his tard bucks to get sicker and add to our tax paying costs.

Lucas isn't really middle aged tho. Per official definition (and it pains me to say this as he might use it when he reads it) he's still a young adult up to and including 39. Middle age starts with 45. It's a very common mistake people make because 35 * 2 is 70 and that's ~ about the life expectancy and so people think that's what it means but it doesn't. It's a phases of life concept thing and people do not "age" linearly in that way. (these years are actually not set in stone either when you follow the whole theory and can be different for different people as not all people really "age" at the same rate either)

With Lucas health lack of care, or understanding and life style choices I'd say body wise he's past his middle age. Even someone who has "good" health aside being 400 lbs is at serious risks for stuff sneaking up on you. Lucas has at leas MRSA and beetus as well. Coupled with his dirt merchant life style, something is gonna get him. Lolcows are near immortal some how. If anything I'm glad we got that small gap in our health care system for two reasons one it gives us lolcows. If the system isn't working well for him you need a better system, not asking Lucas to use it differently. If he'd be able to he wouldn't need it in the first place. Also if you have such complicated systems in place that try to apply blanket solutions to very different people in very different situations, inefficiency is bound to happen. It simply cannot be avoided. Question then is if the inefficiency is acceptable and the whole thing still reaches the general goals or if there needs to be a reform. You'll always have to live with such single cases. Several european countries which have more experience and a longer track record with such systems figured out with the years that trying to micro-control these systems with overbearing bureaucracy and by-case decisions to prevent abuse/loss usually ends up in making them more expensive and inefficient for everyone. Some loss is just a part of it all, which of course is a point that's hard to sell to a taxpayer. ( usually until he needs one of those systems for himself or loved ones, that is) If you are ok with that or not is a question of principles, philosophy and ideology.

I don't disagree with you that the system needs fixing. The problem is Lucas just eeks by enough to be trusted with out a payee. Now we differ on if there should be a system at all but that isn't for this topic.
The reason Lucas falls through the cracks is because the system has to be loose to let people who are trying to sort things out get the help they need. Let's pretend Lucas was trying to unfuck himself. He sees a couch on craigslist for 20 bucks, great it may not be Natuzi leather but it's something to sit on. The system lets him pull 20 bucks from the ATM so he can pick it up. Now while we say Lucas is at fault is because he's given trust and abuses it, also we know Lucas has family who will welcome him with open arms if he gets help and you can get a caseworker to payee. So, it's his ego and lust for junk food winning out. Lucas has a phone he can say, Mom Dad I'm all sorts of fucked up about to be homeless, can you help me with my bank account. He can say same to case worker and they will jump on it.
Lucas feels entitled and he can weasel the system that is indeed awful so he will just keep doing this till he dies.
Lithium use shows he's hopeless, because here state side it's given here because it's cheap and strong. Keeping mentally ill zombied. In Lucas case it's like fuck he ain't worth the good stuff because he doesn't try.
