I wish it ain't so, my macabre curiosity wants to see how he deteriorates furtherSomeone posted a medical journal article that said the median life expectancy from diagnosis of diabetic renal failure was 7 months. The first we knew he was on dialysis was last August, if that's when he was diagnosed that makes his estimated expiry date next month. Looking at the state of him he's bang on time.
If he kicks the bucket this year, we should get Null to do a stream on him, think he’ll be interested?Someone posted a medical journal article that said the median life expectancy from diagnosis of diabetic renal failure was 7 months. I think there’s enough material here, if we worked on a good summary and highlights maybe he would be interested. Null did say on the 10th anniversary stream he wasn’t really familiar with Lucas. If he kicks the bucket this year, we should get Null to do a stream on him, think he’ll be interested?
We could kill two birds with one stone if we got @Spunt to redo the OP (since the current OP seems pretty outdated), Spunt made the masterpiece that is the Lowtax OP/Obituary so I think he could do a good job with Lucas Werner’s.I think there’s enough material here, if we worked on a good summary and highlights maybe he would be interested. His parents have to be notified by law
His Mom would want to know, so she could put a post on FB for ass pats and sympathy. But she wouldn't miss her bovine son. She is happy to be in Mexico far away from the fat cow. She would post something on FB like she was sad, but it would all be a facade. She would be glad the cow is gone. Not really. Not sure if you think that’s a legal requirement for all people or somehow just for him due to his mental illness, but no.
Were his death investigated by police, they notify next of kin for criminal reasons and if clearly not criminal, they do attempt to reach next of kin but they aren't required to contact his parents. They can do contact brother. Or one parent. Probably the easier to get ahold of so Roy. There is no law requiring police or coroner to notify parents or all family members. And if the police were made aware of a natural death by his guardian/payee, they could allow guardian to decide who is contacted and how and by whom.
In hospice or hospital, the hospital/nursing home is obligated and typically try to contact a next of kin but they don't have some legal requirement to succeed and can send you to a coroner to have them contact family. If someone were to really want to avoid the family finding out, they could actually pay ahead for their funeral expenses and make it part of their will and funeral contract and most funeral homes and hospices would comply (especially if that person refused to give info on their familv to be contacted).
In this case, lucas isn't going to do that so my guess is they will contact his payee/guardian and then that guardian would likely contact some next of kin. Could be Seth. Could be Roy. Not likely Myrna. She's out of country and they aren't required to notify all living next of kin.
So, while I agree we will find out, it's not because they are required by law to have Lucas's parents both be notified. And even if he made that a specific hospice request, it still wouldn't be required to notify mom and dad. I checked Washington state laws to confirm and both criminal code and medical practices have nothing more than next of kin notification efforts just to be sure it wasn’t a state difference from the medicolegal practices I am used to. (HIPAA allows hospital to contact next of kin even if deceased person requested no notification before death, but it doesn’t require it. And in my state, if someone has a power of attorney, that is the only notification made regardless of who they are to the decedent).
So if Roy or Seth decide Myrna can't handle it, they can keep it from her. And why not? She wouldn't know a difference.
"You shot the zombie Wern!"Leaving this right here where Lucas canseehear about it…

Not true at all. When someone dies, legal next of kin must be notified by law. In lucas's case, as he has no wife or children, that is automatically his parents. Both parents. That is literally how next of kin is determined. If his parents were no longer alive it would become his next closest living relatives. It doesn't matter if one is 'out of the country' or not. That is what consulates are for. It has nothing to do with police investigating anything. and no you can't put it in your will that people aren't notified. Aside from the fact the next of kin must be notified by law, such a clause would be a pretty big violation of estate law as well. Not that lucas has anything in his estate but thats irrelevant. and no, you can't withhold that information from the next of kin at will. If you do that, you're risking all kinds of legal problems relating to requirements to inform and estate law violations. She's not a drooling, pants shitting dementia patient yetNot really. rather than argue with you and send you all the myriad documents describing what next of kin is and explaining what I already said, since you are saying quite fervently that it is definitely a law, just go ahead and provide any state’s legal statute that 1. Next of kin isnt brothers/sisters as well and 2. That both parents need to be notified. Not true at all. When someone dies, legal next of kin must be notified by law. Are you always this ignorant and passive aggressive? How about you start talking sense instead of making absurd claims. Lucas has no wife and no children. That automatically makes his parents his next of kin. If they were no longer alive when he died his next of kin becomes his next closest living relatives. Any link will to statute will do. Hate to think someone on the farms would have Lucas-level understanding of facts and opinions….
We will probably find out about his unattended death when the EPA lists his hobo apartment as a superfund site.I could give two shits of his parents are notified, I only care about the thread getting notified. Now one of you is going to have to visit Lucas and put a beeper or something on him so we'll at least know when he kicks the bucket.
It says nothing about who is required to notify about it. This is the legal procedure for intestate succession if the decedent left heirs. Homeless people rarely even have heirs. Here is a list of the order in which next of kin is determined by law. Its at the top
Hospitals, police, a coroner, or whatever government authority first takes custody of a dead body generally make at least a good faith effort to locate next of kin, but they are under no obligation to move heaven and earth to find people who may not even exist.I could give two shits of his parents are notified, I only care about the thread getting notified. I hope they use the OP of this thread to locate his family. But if I remember correctly that shouldn’t be necessary at all, I’m pretty sure Myrna had him committed at least one of the times since the Starbuck’s incidentI don't Lucas's next of kin will be that difficult to locate.
he's well known locally to both hospital systems and police, family will be notified (they're listed as emergency contacts on paperwork for admission and arrest here)I hope they use the OP of this thread to locate his family.
