Considering how poorly they vetted people when I was doing security it wouldn't surprise me. Though he wouldn't last long. Yeah definitely. He'd be useless as a guard and people interviewing him would notice that pretty fast. It would be dangerous and lawsuit bait to put him on many sites. Though I am getting a sudden horrifying mental image of lucas weaseling his way into a security position at SCC so he can waddle around the campus leering at college girls and trying to show off and assert his authority over them. Yeah it definitely didn't go the way lucas claims it did. I don't doubt he went in for a performance review, probably was the end of his probationary period and he thought he was plenty good and got a serious talking to by his boss that lucas didn't appreciate at all. Probably involving lucas not paying attention, fucking around with his phone, leering at customers and not doing his job in an acceptable way or at a reasonable speed. Lucas is lazy and always does the minimum possible, so no doubt fucked around trying to do as little as he could whenever possible. His going out of his way to point out how his speed was the issue yet he was perfectly competent at actually doing the job is a big red flag. Thats how lucas talks when he's lying about something. No doubt he kept fucking up orders and having to go back and get the right stuff for them repeatedly. Like you said there is no way this had anything to do with 'moving slowly' as everyone knew what kind of people were being hired and alot of them are drugged up and slow movement is something to be expected of people in that kind of program.
Something definitely happened that would make lucas look bad. Not a serious enough spaz out to get his ass arrested or thrown back in the funny farm, but we know how lucas acts when people criticize him even when they're supposed to as part of their job, and how lucas acts when he knows he fucked something up. He definitely got big mad at his boss and got fired, possibly pulling a you can't fire me I quit and definitely making some angry comments in the boss's direction. He was probably told to get the fuck off the property or they'd call the cops and trespass him so he shut up and left

Indeed, he got a taste for his equivalent of the good life and all the expensive food he could stuff himself with and as much as he hates working he loved that. It might take a week or two to sink in fully and make him start majorly resenting that he has no money to keep doing it but it'll happen, he'll try to make up for it with ebegging, as he already is and that won't do much. He'll build up angry entitlement and resentment and do at least one angry rant about it. Speaking of which...

While he isn't committed, I wouldn't be so sure it would be that easy for him to get his tugboat back. His wrangler would probably tell him they're responsible for ensuring he has housing so they're going to keep paying for his spot with the tugboat whether lucas is there or not, at least for awhile. That said, sooner or later he's going to end up homeless again one way or another. He despises not having money, a zoomer bae and has pushed himself into thinking he'd rather be on the street with money and more freedom than being stuck in an apartment with a roommate and no money. Remember, lucas assumes he'll have housing and food from shelters and food banks regardless and that if things get really bad he'll deliberately psych himself up to have another breakdown and get himself put in eastern state for a few months to get a roof over his head and food. Lucas thinks he has the system all figured out and how to exploit it, not realizing that shit only works for so long and deliberately working himself into a psycho episode can just as easily go badly and get him arrested rather than committed
He'll fuck up mallon place eventually. He always does and it'll mean spending the rest of his life on the street or fucking off to a new city to try to start fresh. Not that the end result would be any different. and really, spokane is the mecca of mentally ill homeless in washington state. Its literally the best place for him with the most opportunities and options, most of which he's fucked up at this point. There aren't really any other cities where he'd fare better than he would in spokane. He won't go back to olympia, has enough sense to stay away from seattle and that doesn't leave many options. Perhaps going back to aberdeen or montesano thinking he could find some of the people he used to know and exploit them for awhile maybe but that wouldn't last long
