Holy shit. I've known more sociopathic, psychopathic and BPD types than I like to think about and i've heard some fucked up things come out of their mouths but reading that literally made my skin crawl. We all know myrna is a blatantly obvious narc but the casual mention of lucas having stage 4 renal failure like she was talking about the fucking weather and acting all cheery about the shithole he's living in screams and I mean fucking screams psychopath. As does the fact she said that publicly without the slightest consideration for how that statement would look to other people. That is not a normal way to say something like that and if I were her in her social group i'd be eyeing her alot more warily after reading that. For someone who is very clearly concerned about how her social group views her thats an incredibly strange post to make. Nevertheless I don't doubt for a second that she said that as bait to get sympathy points from people like all good narcs do

I went all the way to spokane and showed up at my psycho sons nursing home to visit him while he's sick and make sure he's doing well. Its in such a nice part of town and they're taking such good care of my poor baby. As always she tries to paint lucas in the best possible light. Of course she doesn't mention that before getting put there after collapsing from said kidney issues she had left him to rot for years as a literal hobo who at that point was literally living at the bus station. Mallon place is a shithole in a seedy and dangerous part of spokane, but myrna is very impressed with the facility and neighborhood
If she's so concerned about lucas's health and wants him to be taken care of why isn't she moving him closer to her hmm? Why not pay for a better facility with better treatment options? Because she wants to wash her hands of him and all this is performative
That said, stage 4 renal failure is bad. Stage 5 is terminal end stage and 4 has an average male life expectancy in the 16 year range. But that of course implies an average, otherwise fairly healthy person. Lucas is in very poor health, morbidly obese, diabetic and went untreated for at least a decade or more (which is probably what caused all this renal failure in the first place), is loaded with MRSA and fuck knows what else, and eats insane amounts of garbage at every opportunity. Lucas does not have 16 years. Hell i'm wondering if the reason myrna even made the trip to spokane at all is because either lucas or his medical team said something about the actual state of his health and didn't give a very optimistic prediction about his future, prompting her to essentially go see him one last time. I don't see what other reason any of them would have to go out of their way to go all the way to spokane to see him. I mean they didn't even acknowledge him when he was living in the bus station in winter until lucas fucked up and got himself catfished to LA in a situation that could have made the family look bad and made people ask alot of questions if he got his ass arrested or killed
Aside from that though, its clear lucas is ignoring medical advice. At least as far as food goes. You don't fuck around with renal failure. He'd have been told to limit his protein intake, yet he was stuffing himself like a turkey on steaks and such every chance he got when he had the job and is still advertising steak dinners that he can't even pay for. This kind of behavior will kill him a hell of alot faster. To say nothing of the fact there is no way in hell he's getting on any transplant lists with his history. Being moved out of the fartbox strongly implies that his kidney issues have progressed to the point he needs far more care than he (or myrna for that matter) is willing to admit. I suspect lucas will be one of those patients who chugs along for awhile and then his health just drops like a rock like a domino effect all at once, given all the issues he has.
I wonder if he's been told the full truth about his health, let alone actually understands it. I mean he makes a point of not taking about it which is his standard MO when something makes him look bad so there is that, but I kind of wonder if the increased constant mooing about religion and nonsensical offers of $100 steak dates that he can't even logically pay for at present is some kind of reaction to the realization his health is failing rather quickly. a sort of coping fuck you to religion out of fear his years of stealing, baiting traps for little girls and such is going to get him into trouble when he dies. We know he isn't as much of an atheist as he claims. Atheists don't pray to gods they don't believe in for a girlfriend. The steak stuff is a bit concerning in this light as if it really is from desperation to knock up a zoomer bae to somehow magically heal himself or just producing a wernling before he dies and he really is getting closer to the end then he should absolutely be watched carefully. Lucas only behaves himself out of fear of punishment by his own admission. The day he accepts the idea that he legitimately has nothing to lose is the day he very well might do something desperate and stupid and actually go after some teen girl
I also have to wonder if the real reason lucas got fired from walmart was actually related to his health. Remember he claimed it was cause he was too slow doing shit and one of the main symptoms with renal failure is frequent fatigue. Especially if undergoing dialysis regularly. It would make alot of sense all things considered. It would also explain why his handler didn't find him another option by now, not that there are many for people like him but still

Yeah definitely. Remember what he was like when he had his collapse in the store and ended up hospitalized and dumped in mallon place in the first place. He looked like he was half dead at that point. If he goes back to the streets he won't stay on his meds or get proper treatment for the kidneys and he'll be fucked very quickly. Somehow I suspect his parents reminded him of this while they were there. Not that he'd listen or care in the moment if something should happen. Speaking of their meals out together, lucas orders the strangest shit even with his parents. Fish curry is a thing of course but i've never seen it in the form of a curry with a piece of salmon served on top, essentially. First, we all know Lucas is a liar and super unreliable as a source of info so part of me wonders if the "stage 4 renal failure" is accurate or is she either: taking Lucas at his word (though it's likely a lie/smokescreen for him having been bounced out his "apartment" back to the holding pen for some other reason, likely behavioral); or she just basically put his business out in the street by publicly announcing his serious medical problems, something that I imagine he doesn't exactly want advertised. Also, as other people noted, she mentions it in such a weird nonchalant way. Just odd.
Second - Is that park the one Lucas has been banned from? Part of me hopes so and that he got bounced from it right after that pic.

Even if by some miracle he somehow managed to get a new kidney he'd never keep it long. Those transplant committees are strict as hell given the number of people waiting for a very limited supply of organs. Not that i'd be surprised if lucas lied about his kidney issues as a cover for getting kicked out of the fartbox for behavior issues (though those things aren't necessarily mutually exclusive in his case) as he has lied about his kidney issues before. Remember when he admitted to being on dialysis but being an idiot didn't know that admitting that made his claims of it being because he was dehydrated on a hot day an obvious lie. But stage 4 fits with his age, the beetus he's had untreated for most of his life, his general lifestyle and health. Lucas making up a lie that its stage 4 doesn't really fit with his usual MO. It would make him look bad, if he were lying about such things he'd say it was less serious. Plus lucas probably doesn't know much if anything about stages of renal failure that he hasn't been told by his doctors. Calling it stage 4 sounds like something he'd either been told and thus told myrna or she spoke to whoever is in charge of his care team at mallon place and got the truth about his health. Again, I highly suspect his parents going to mallon place at all was directly in response to his health issues. There really isn't any rational reason for them to do so otherwise at this point.
