Add on the crippling paranoia and insecurities Lucas has, and it's tough. The thing is it wasn't shitty therapists. It was lucas outright refusing to cooperate and refusing to take the meds he absolutely needs because he thinks there is nothing wrong with him. He has done this to himself and his parents enabled him to do so. They could have done something about it. They could have gathered up the evidence of the pedo behavior, the threats, the violence and the predatory stuff he has engaged in and used it to force his permanent commitment by threatening the city of spokane with a very public lawsuit and blame for anything that happens as a result of them refusing to comply with his commitment, whether that was his death, injury or an inevitable incident involving a young woman. They could have, and they know exactly what he is, but they didn't. They helped make him what he is and then left him to his own devices. They are just a responsible for whatever happens as he is. Myrna is absolutely to blame for it. That post sounded sad until I got to the part I was waiting for — when he makes it clear that they HAVE told him he can come home, if he abides by their rules (which include getting mental help). So no, Lucas, your family is NOT obligated to take you in on YOUR terms. If you want to live entirely on your terms, get a job and get your own place and your own things.

I think I’m in the minority here, but I legitimately believe that Lucas is dangerous.
If Walter took him up on his offer and met up with him face to face, he would slink away like a coward. However, he has a lot of rage and has a very difficult time containing it as evidenced by his videos and people’s conversations with him. If you put him in a situation with someone obviously physically weaker than him (like an elderly parent or a young woman by herself), I don’t trust him to not act on that rage.
What would you have Myrna do?
It’s like that old saying “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink”. Lucas has no interest in bettering himself, he gets violently angry when someone suggests that he get back on medication or seek professional help.
Imagine living under the same roof with someone that disfunctional, who rages at the slightest criticism and will make your remaining years an utter living hell. If he does get violent with them, the consequences can be pretty severe at their age.
He’s so far gone at this point, he’s unlikely to ever be able to hold a job (even if he wanted to... which he isn’t). Despite Lucas’s bragging about their extensive herd of cattle, I get the impression that they’re older middle class retirees and they probably can’t afford to pay for him to live a somewhat normal lifestyle and provide him with food and an apartment. Plus, he can’t manage to not get evicted from an Apartment and they’d be on the hook for damages (which I can only imagine are extensive given how disgusting he is).
I think they’ve just accepted that their son is the way that he is and barring some major developments, there’s really nothing they can do.
