I have a friend who identifies as aro/ace. She rarely mentions it. Maybe it's caused by her medication or by trauma or something, but it's really none of my business why someone isn't interested in sex or dating. It's people who never shut up about it and think it makes them super oppressed who bother me.

Does anyone know why her Patreon is marked as NSFW? Made me expect some sort of vore art, but from what I can see it's just comic wips. Quite infrequent ones at that. $46 a month from Patreon, and no sales on Etsy at all. She's got to have a job somewhere, right?

Hands are one of the more difficult things to draw. They're often good for separating good artists from hacks, because a lot of artists will just flat out refuse to draw them if they can't, or alternately, just draw the same hand positions over and over, because they don't actually know how hands work.

She's a medical scribe? She just follows the doctor around and writes down patient encounters and write up referrals for the doctor's patients based on the doctor's orders. She must know her art degree was useless if she picked up this job. Well, at least she has one and isn't ebegging like most tumblr comic artists.

Medical transcriptionist is a real job, but it's also frequently touted via online courses and certificates. Which makes it smell fishy. I have a feeling getting genuine employment as a transcriptionist is not as easy as taking an online course and probably should have been part of your coursework in college.
But I'm just guessing. The words "medical scribe" just rang some alarm bells.

Looks like she has a new LinkedIn, which lists her as a studio apprentice for a stained glass company -- which if that is true, I guess good on her for at least dodging the medical scribe scam and finding an application for the art degree that while more manual labor than artistic will help her dodge the e-begging for a living.

Anyone can make a business out of art if they're talented, listen well, and a hard worker. Luna is none of those things so I can't see this stained glass apprenticeship lasting for much longer.

I don't know anything about the stained glass industry, but I get the impression that the art world in general runs on connections, so if she fucks up at this job, I'm assuming it'd ruin her chances of getting a job doing a similar thing somewhere else.

Honestly, its usage toward trans women is a little more common than one might think (or at least in my opinion). It came from a mistranslation in anime, yeah, but a lot of crossdressers latched onto it and use it as slang in their kink community a lot. So to hear someone call a trans woman that is 1. generally kind of shitty because it’s a shitty archetype to compare them to because 2. it implies you’re this deviant that’s purposefully tricking possible romantic partners and also 3. it’s brushing off whatever work they’ve done to make themselves feel more comfortable in their body. Not everyone has the money to surgically transition, and it’s an arduous, expensive, LONG process. Not just some snipping and inverting. Some of the other optional procedures include hormone therapy (which is lifelong), facial feminization surgery, Adam’s apple shaving, breast implants, etc. and this doesn’t even begin to touch on the effort it takes to rebuild your physical appearance as far as hair, makeup, and wardrobe from the ground up.
TL;DR Idk, I’ve just actually seen it happen to close friends multiple times and it’s ugly and disheartening. Like yeah it’s not a super common instance, but it happens. Inb4 “haha but troons ARE sexual deviants, OP!” and :autism: ratings because this is something I have feelings about.
That all being said, Luna is a dumbass as always and I can’t wait to see what they have to say about the tumblr purge. Technically their stuff (even the vore) isn’t adult content by site guidelines. Also, someone earlier in the thread discussed the possibility of Luna’s asexuality being mostly the result of libido-dampening SSRIs and guilt over sexual feelings because they built an identity in it before knowing how they would feel about it in the future. In a lot of ~modern~ LGBT+ communities, you’ll get scorned for realizing that maybe, actually, you were having a phase. This really leads me to believe that this is what Luna’s going through and they don’t know how to back out of it all.

Got a buddy of mine going through this right now and had people giving them shit over it because somebody else's gender is the business of the whole community, apparently, and if somebody changes their mind, it's a personal attack on... everyone else, apparently?

Lmao I think about this a lot. There’s a lot of nuance to it all, but any sign of disagreement is cause for alarm. Like if you believe trans women are women, but perhaps their voice shouldn’t have the same importance on certain topics (like literal uterus related ones) as cis women’s, or even the voices of other trans folks that have uteri(?)—TERF! You fucking TERF! You hate trans women! You’re a transphobe radfem!
Like, the LGBT+ community argues a lot about how it’s good to back up marginalized people but not speak over/for them when it comes to their issues. But it’s criminal to ask the same courtesy when it comes to certain aspects of feminism...? Yes, of course feminism cares about the rights and wellbeing of trans women, but asking them to not speak over uterus-having people about uterus-related issues isn’t exactly the end of the world.
TLDR that’s why I hate when Luna (and others) buys into this mentality; it perpetuates really unproductive black and white thinking. You got through college, Luna. Utilize your critical thinking skills!
