Lunduke: Use Firefox? Mozilla Says it Can Use Your Data However it Wants

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
the problem with modern browsers is that the modern internet is so packed full of stupid scripting and markup languages that all need their own interpreters and modules and shit that actually developing a browser from scratch is a Herculean task. since Firefox and Chromium are both FOSS, it's much easier to simply fork the existing projects and remove the offending elements instead, which takes far less time and effort. de-jewing jewware is something that can be done by a handful of sperglords in their spare time; making basedware is not.
Maybe Stallman has the right idea to browse the internet via terminal

I really want to like le shill lion, but feature-creep and the whole "don't ask for permission, ask for forgiveness when caught" approach in the past sour it for me big time. Also nobody forked Brave and called it Stunning? I'm disappointed, Internet.

Let's hope that Ladybird doesn't shit the bed immediately.

What the FUCK
I figured someday Mozilla would do something offensive enough to force me onto Librewolf. The time has come.
That fucking agreement reads like "your data will go to train an LLM model and you'll like it, peasant".
While I'm at it I think I'll finally change the last few Chromiums to Ungoogled Chromiums to complete the transition. Upstream browsers are fucking cursed.

I’m half tempted to setup a mozilla account with a racist name and put in pro-Trump questions just to see if they will ban me.

I don't like pozzed shit, and when I learned that Librewolf is corrupted by trannies, I switched to Mullvad without a second thought.

Now for Android... oh boy, it's time to hunt down browsers that aren't fucking spyware. Tor is an iffy option, the stability of the network and the speed on cellular data makes me think those Onion dudes got stuck in the 64K Modem era. I have an unlimited internet plan, so that's a non-factor.

Perhaps with Thor from FDroid would be nice, I'll keep you farmers updated.

I haven’t really used Android since 2021. Sometimes i’ll pull out my S8 and think back to a time when Samsung was still trying to be different.

My favorite browser back then was Kiwi. You could load up Chrome add-ons. Not sure if it’s loaded with spyware these days.

Also not a fan of pozzed software that’s developed and maintained by trannies. But i’m not going to give them my money nor help out with the project in any form. And i know someone like me would absolutely trigger them and they have no way to stop me from using their software.

God I hope they go bankrupt, even though it might be bad for Firefox hopefully sane individuals will pick up the pieces afterwards. Seems that it will be even more likely now that their Google money is about to dry up supposedly.

Reading the comments on Mozilla blog rn, and user Welyr pasted a part of their TOS:
You may not use any of Mozilla’s services to:

  • Do anything illegal or otherwise violate applicable law,
  • Threaten, harass, or violate the privacy rights of others; send unsolicited communications; or intercept, monitor, or modify communications not intended for you,
  • Harm users such as by using viruses, spyware or malware, worms, trojan horses, time bombs or any other such malicious codes or instructions,
  • Deceive, mislead, defraud, phish, or commit or attempt to commit identity theft,
  • Engage in or promote illegal gambling,
  • Degrade, intimidate, incite violence against, or encourage prejudicial action against someone or a group based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, geographic location or other protected category,
  • Exploit or harm children,
  • Sell, purchase, or advertise illegal or controlled products or services,
  • Upload, download, transmit, display, or grant access to content that includes graphic depictions of sexuality or violence,
  • Collect or harvest personally identifiable information without permission. This includes, but is not limited to, account names and email addresses,

  • Violate the copyright, trademark, patent, or other intellectual property rights of others,
  • Violate any person’s rights of privacy or publicity,
and rightly notices that most of them don't make sense at all, especially the bolded ones. Using Firefox to watch a movie that contains a sex scene/violence would violate the terms of use. Accessing torrents sites would violate the terms of use. Just being on Kiwifarms would violate the terms of use.

Edit: typos

Did they have an intern write this up in an afternoon or are they really that retarded to think that they could enforce any of this realistically.

A lot of that reads like it was just copy pasted from something else from a completely different business context

They changed it again due to backlash:
"You give Mozilla the rights necessary to operate Firefox. This includes processing your data as we describe in the Firefox Privacy Notice. It also includes a nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license for the purpose of doing as you request with the content you input in Firefox. This does not give Mozilla any ownership in that content. "

"In addition, we’ve removed the reference to the Acceptable Use Policy because it seems to be causing more confusion than clarity."

These changes sadly amount to just going from explicitly fucking you over to hiding it behind legally deceptive speech.

A lawyer could argue that the right to sell any personal data is necessary for the continued operation of Firefox, due to the money gained being needed to continue production and maintenance of Firefox. The terms of "as you request with the content you input into Firefox" is also dubiously vague.

Would a legal team trying to promote that kind of thought be laughed out of court? Maybe. But we've seen with businesses that they'll to get away with anything, and they will get away with it as long as they grease enough fingers and push the right shit. And if they're in favorable view with whoever the current regime is, even if they do get told off for their actions, they'll just get a relatively small fine.

This is one of those situations where they tried to do it once, and they will obviously try to do it again. Companies will pivot when called out, but they almost never fully backtrack. The fact they even thought they could do this, and get away with it, despite being on like 3% of the browser market, meaning their entire user base is people who don't like how intrusive even degoogled-chromium is, means their management is either insane, or too desperate to care. Neither bodes well for the future. It's just a shame there's so little in terms of alternatives.

So I am switching to Fennec for now, as I am stuck being a mobilefag at the moment. I have heard good things about Brave, but considering what Google has sent down the pipe with its war on adblockers, I would avoid anything Chrome-based at the moment. I have heard people are looking into forks of Firefox like Zen and Arkenfox, but as far as I know those browsers do not have any versions for Android.

I do not have access to a PC at the moment, so transferring all of my bookmarks is going to be a pain in the ass.

Can't believe I'm finally switching off Firefox after 18 years or so but this is just too much. Even the slight chance that there may be an opportunity for some tranny at Mozilla to comb through any of your data inputted through Firefox is unacceptable. Your browser should merely be an interface between my personal computer and the website I am accessing, you do not need to process my fucking data and any reason you give is just an excuse for snooping.

LibreWolf is looking good for now, took me like ten minutes to get everything set up exactly the same. Even the cookies are directly compatible, you don't even have to log back in to anything. I should have done this sooner, honestly.

EDIT: Also if you're uninstalling Firefox, it doesn't remove the folder %AppData%\Mozilla which in my case was taking up like 2GB. Make sure you have a backup or are sure you've got everything you need out of it before deleting.

Is there any browser that isn't Jewware?
Closest I can think of are Pale Moon (FF28 maintained by a lone furfag last I checked) Otter (Opera 12 clone that uses WebKit) and NetSurf (most notable for running on 9front and RISC-OS.)
Everything else uses either Mozilla's Gecko or Google's Blink.

I use Cromite, although it seems to only other "privacy browser" for android (besides TOR) is Thor.
