Aight so no bells and whistles, Windows/USB. You probably want full/deep throw keys if you are planning on getting fancy caps? For typing you probably want Browns or Blues or some more obscure equivalent (pretty sure I have heard you talk about switches on stream).

Pick a size/layout and you have a complete feature profile to shop from.

Browns are quite typers, Blues are loud typers and Reds are for games. I kinda miss the Blues from my old Razor Black Widow sometimes, the clicking is the sound of productivity... Plus (no offense Null) but it's Null, unless he is lying to throw us all off his secret wife and kids, he lives alone and nobody cares if he is going *clickity* *clackity* *click* *click* *thonk* *clickity**clickity* *clackity* *click* at 4 am.

Is it just the one appearance of Rekieta's address I am meant to be editing out here? I'mma be honest I was in fucking agony all through this one so I wasn't really watching.

Browns are objectively the best, including for gaming.

Here are a couple options I think will fit the bill. They were both designed to be abused in office cubicles by people who don't take care of their devices.

Dell L100 - the basic keyboard that came with their XP era workstations. Dirt cheap, but you might only find used ones. I like the big rounded spacebar that doesn't jab into your thumbs. Can be a bit mushy if you get a worn out one. Quiet. Alternatively, get one of the newer Dell wired keyboards that are meant for businesses - they're good too.

Unicomp - new versions of the venerated IBM Model M. Made in USA with the original tooling, sturdy case, and tactile switches. Pretty cheap for what you get, but it will be loud.

Yeah I have to say, Josh is an incredibly smart and determined person but that whole segment was equivalent to saying "One time I pulled a leg muscle and I was fine after, people with 'broken legs' just need to walk it off." It was incredibly strange - just because one person experienced a period of depression that they could get out of through willpower and self-treatment doesn't mean that every case of depression is equivalent, Josh should be smart enough to know that one person's limited experience is not representative of the whole.

Yeah his thing sounded less like depression and more like "I was sad". Which is different.

I don't agree with him. But my personal experience supports his conclusion. Was super depressed after GF cheated and left me. For like 2 years, had both social anxiety and depression. Was on Pristiq. Eventually had no insurance so I had no medication. Had to learn to live without it. Even if I don't agree with Josh that it isn't real and there can be something physical, chemical, or psychological causing depression, I don't think drugs are the best solution, only the solution they want to pedal to the masses. But it is also kinda weird how Josh takes this position when he basically argued the opposite with Mumkey Jones, "Do not EVER suddenly go off your medication, your depression and mental anguish is very real and you WILL kill yourself if you do this."

@Null I think I know what Kurt video you're talking about, he's not masturbating, he's putting Icy Hot on his back during a cooking stream, the angle and expression makes it seem far more horrifying than it is.

I've been using the MK Night Typist with Cherry MX Brown switches for nearly three years of heavy daily use and have had no issues so far.
It has some more advanced features (macro recording, alternate non-QWERTY layouts, assigning values to specific keys) but I never use them. The "non-standard" things I like are the dedicated calculator, the media keys (pause, mute, volume down, & volume up), and the customizable brightness settings
The only maintenance I've done is pull the caps off and deep cleaning it every so often. Audible feedback but not too loud. I used to like clicky keys but ever since trying one of those 3x3 demo bricks I really liked the Cherry Browns and Reds.

Additionally if you don't already have one, consider a hard mousepad. I have a metal one (Razer Manticor) and have used it for so long the grippy rubber base barely grips anymore. I need to see if I can replace it
