"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

I think he wants the best of both worlds, the safety offered by modern cars is unparalleled but he doesn't want to have to deal with "smart" bullshit which I can understand. Cars from 90s are plenty safe for most types of accidents but it's hard to ignore the vast gulf between the safety tech and cars then and vs now, hell even in the last 15 years there's a missive difference. A lot of it is being driven by new regulation so even new cheap cars get a lot of the same tech and construction that would've made them premium 10, 15 years ago. That's expensive so costs have to be cut somewhere, it's why cheap cars often have lackluster interiors and are lacking in pretty much any tech that isn't a CD player.
I see.
You’re right about safety features coming along. Stuff like automatic braking and airbag protection has improved drastically, to where they keep having to update the standards.
Cheaper brands don’t always do well. Dacia for example is good value for money but doesn’t score well in testing. The economy end of Korean or Japanese brands might be the best bet.
Personally I have a total blind spot for this stuff and don’t even consider it. My daily driver has no airbags or ABS, no pre-tensioners, no SIPS, no collapsible steering column… Probably a false sense of security from never having crashed.

A lot of the fun of streams compared to vods is the chat.
Susan Wojcicki hates you @Null , why put her shitty chat on screen?
If you put the odysee or rumble or even poast.tv chat on screen, than the lazy stragglers have one more incentive to move platform.
YT has the most eyeballs, so it makes sense to stream there too, but you should treat YT and the lazy YT audience like an unwanted stepchild.

PS
If you are still looking for a car, I recommend a Peugot 205.
It was the best car I ever bought and it will be the one I get after my current car dies.
It has none of the modern safety features, it is as simple a car as you can get.
It's the car with the least amount of problems I ever had, until I crashed it and sold the wreck to my mechanic.
My mechanic is a big fan of the Peugot 205 because it is so easy to repair.

What is also great about it, like with older BMW models is the amount of visibility you get due to the nice big windows, and it has great fuel economy.
It has a really comfortable soft suspension unlike other older small cars like the VW Golf.

The big con is that it's not a car to compensate with.

at this point I think it's rather passe to talk about getting people on alt platforms. big tech literally has no fail state. you can't compete with that meaningfully, the best you can do is what josh is already doing.

I agree.
Big tech will always be big, one of the big reasons is Smartphones and the influence big tech has over the "app stores".

There are still people on the verge of moving and they are the people to think about.
Any little way to push them over the edge counts.
Once you get banned the 1000 YT viewers that didn't want to move are worth nothing but the 10 YT viewers that are now on Odysee are a big win.

I dunno if its a big win or what but I see it pretty much like the brotherhood from 1984. There is basically no hope right now, so the only thing left we can do is educate people as best we can about the truth. I dunno, tech evolves very quickly but big web platforms have been pretty stagnant for years now. Maybe all it will take is a paradigm shift, something like the freedom to transfer money that josh likes to talk about (while coping).

You will never have a bigger platform than the central narrative via peaceful means, that's propaganda 101.
They are willing to send trillions down the drain to keep the media monopoly going, because a central narrative is the key to controlling a population.

They will never relinquish the control of the majority of media without a violent fight.
Freedom to transfer money could lead to an increase in dissident media, which would lead to them employing everything in their power to suppress it.

But I am thinking about this less from a dissident place and more from the place of an edgy content enjoyer.
I want places like Odysee just big enough to enable edgy content creators to make decent money by creating edgy content.

@Null I think you would really like a crown vic, they're old, reliable, super durable and cheap. There is a good reason cops still use them to this day

Isn't he still in Europe? He should go for a car he can easily get replacement parts for, a car that was popular like the Peugeot 205 or the BMW E30.

ah, forgot about that not sure how well the crown vic sold over there
I thought he decided on a Toyota Tacoma. I wanna say a 2005?
Toyotas are great, they're like the cockroaches of the road, last for decades

Are 205's cheap in Europe? I'm jealous, 1.9L of insanity in a car under 1000kgs.
They were very popular in Europe and were in production for 15 years, so there are still many around and they aren't considered cool like BMWs, so you can find them dirt cheap.
The only people I know who actively hunt them down are mechanics.

It’s true, connectivity is usually a “premium” feature found only on higher end models and brands.
If you hate the idea of electronics in general then you need to go back to mid 90s diesel economy cars - Ford, Peugeot etc. Rip the radio out and you’ll be down to 0 computers.
Economy cars in the US are essentially all gas powered and have electronic fuel injection. Small diesels here tend to be be computer managed nightmares. It's a combo of having shitty regs and a market that generally strongly prefers gas cars.

Sure, but this is about Null, who lives in Europe, where small diesel cars from the mid 90s are available, if you really must.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought the car purchase talk was for upon return to the USA.
