"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

Would be a great intro/outro for MATI, except for all the inevitable copyright strikes.
I don't feel like dealing with the "unusual traffic" boxes so I haven't listened to them but if they're wholly AI generated including the backing track then there's no copyright issue at all so they'd be perfect choices if they're good or just otherwise worthwhile. AI/ML software created works are ineligible for copyright, and a person inputting variables into said software isn't eligible for the copyright either. They're completely obstructed from copyright until the law catches up

Covers of songs are a specific copyright thing (in many countries, including the US), and generally are classified almost more as a performance than an original work. If an AI was to do a cover (as is the case with these songs), the original copyright still applies.

A pretty great write-up of the writer's strike, could be some good filler for this week's show, if needed:
On May 2, 2023 at 12:01 PST the Writer's Guild of America went on strike. An estimated 12,000 people walked off their jobs that night. Their demands were simple:
  1. Better residuals from streaming services
  2. To not be replaced by AI
At the time of this writing almost a month has passed with no ground gained. The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have not budged so the writers continue to picket. Things are bad for the writers. Some have even been forced to steal food from their contractor just to survive!

Michael had to steal Kombucha from Netflix to feed his wife who was either pregnant at the time or just gave birth to his daughter. He couldn't afford to buy his own kombucha because he was too busy giving you a show to consoom about a 13 year old girl living in the 90's who discovers she's a lesbian after looking at a porno mag and kissing a black boy.

What other middle aged man
1685553357019.png
is gonna write fapfic shows about 13 year old girls discovering their love for muff for all the 13 year old girls discovering their love for muff?

How about the poor lady of color who wrote the Turner and Hooch TV remake who doesn't get residuals from a show that no one watched and got cancelled?

For 8 months this woman
1685553889964.png
was without work. Why couldn't she find work in those 8 months? None of your fucking business, bigot! Fuck you! Pay her more!

But wait! There's also the story of the poor Asian woman who's show that she worked so hard on is being removed from streaming after just SIX MONTHS!

but she worked realllllllly hard on it so who are you to deny her potential residuals on a show that got pulled about John Stamos being a basketball coach that no one ever heard of?

Don't you just feel for the guy who doesn't actually write anything but just works for the union?

Didn't you clap? Didn't you clap when you saw it?

As it stands now Hollywood is at a standstill. Companies like Disney are changing what shows they are and are not keeping on their streaming services due to the public outcry of people on twitter. Is this the future we want? Think of the children! Would you make the children of the world suffer another year with no heroes(a)? Think of the throwaway TV shows you'll be missing if you don't give them your support! Think of the movies that mock you that will never get made! Think of the mediocre capeshit that won't exist to keep worthless adults from realizing they wasted the past 13 years of their life!

Show these hard workers and fighters of the evils of capitalism your support by posting them and their wonderful works in the thread, won't you?

I fucking hate Hollywood and I want it all to burn. I want every faggot who thinks they deserve riches or even just a living wage because they made a singular show that they seem to expect live the rest of their life on regardless of if anyone actually watches it or shat their thinly veiled lust for young flesh out on paper, went over budget and want to make it my problem, to be destitute and their loved ones to hate forever for ruining them with their hedonistic hubris. Fuck these people.

Is there an instance of that being upheld in court somewhere? Every court case I see regarding ML content ends with the case being dismissed because the software is wholly ineligible for copyright, and Google just won a case involving the distribution of lyrics in the last week or two. It seems like it would err on that side of the equation in favor of whoever generated the ML vocals if someone tried to come after them for infringing

I get if it's using an official backing track or karaoke cover, wherever the music came from, that copyright should apply, but the actual ML generated portions should be usable if it's distinct enough from the source that it wouldn't be considered a recreation ala a phone camera's algorithm generating a photograph with no transformative intent on the part of the photographer (ie photographing each page of a book to then recompile and republish them)

AI in general has been held to not be eligible for copyright, correct. That wouldn't matter if you're doing a cover of an existing copyrighted song. There are a million hits for "cover song youtube" for example, and one such article is here:
https://drummagazine.com/legal-beat-do-you-need-permission-to-upload-a-cover-song-to-youtube/

AI isn't some magic "get around copyright" of existing works, but it is copyright-free for newly generated, original works.

What the fuck is going on in New Jersey (Saw these on /o/)

There is a YouTube channel that has AI SpongeBob. People can feed topics to the AI, with hilarious results.

@Null, 2 requests for tomorrow
First of all, could you wish everyone a happy month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus?

Second of all, could you watch this clip of the fishtank finale? I don't think you were really keeping up with it so you won't understand what happened but you still might enjoy it, it involves Willy Wonka, idk if it would be nostalgic for you.

Someone recommended The Storm of Steel in your post asking for book recommendations, so I decided to pick it myself. I'm quite enjoying it so far.
A couple times Junger referenced another book that you might consider reading, Simplicius Simplicissimus. It's a novel written in the 1600s depicting life during the 30 years war. It's quite dark at times, but it also has some very comical moments.

I mean if we're doing book recommends, and you want something short but prophetic:
The Abolition of Man -CS Lewis
Vision of the Anointed -Thomas Sowell
