Dr Martens seems like an interesting company - all I knew about them is that Bri'ish comedian Alexei Sayle once sang a song about them (tried to turn it into Joshcore, it was too anglo). They're a English company but founded by a German army doctor in 1947 who developed his patented boots during the war as the standard issue boots were not comfortable especially after he broke his ankle. Over 75 years of experience, history and name recognition for xirs to come in and crash it all to the ground.

I think it's worth mentioning that in the early 2000's Dr. Martens has almost went tits up, moved all the production to China and the quality nosedived hard but they've kept the high prices, leading to the shoes becoming overpriced status symbols with no redeeming qualities that made it popular in the first place.

However, some time in the 60's Dr. Martens collaborated with a small company in the UK that has basically made the good old Doc Martens on a license, and even long after Dr. Martens sold out to the Chinese, this little company still kept their production in the UK and actually made their shoes to the same quality standard and designed as the old Docs used to be made to.

And they still do, and their name is Solovair. And AFAIK they haven't done any tranny cock sucking since they're still somewhat low profile compared to Dr. Martens. So if you're looking for DM's you should look towards Solovair's offerings. You may not get the yellow stitching but you will get a quality shoe.

And as for the significance of the Dr. Martens brand, it all boils down to the working class and various subcultures of 60's and 70's Britain. It was a good, affordable shoe so it was very popular. Back in the day it was mostly associated with skinheads.

Speaking of, the color of the laces and the lacing that was used on those shoes was also a way of showing from which subculture you were. White laces laced in a ladder meant you were a skinhead for example. In Poland this whole subculture and lacing thing started to die out in the 2000's and nowadays most people forgot it was a thing.

Also, in Poland a more popular form of "the subculture shoe" was something called "glany", which differed from your usual Doc Martens in the fact that they were 10 eyelet shoes, therefore being taller, and also having steel toes. They're still popular in the metal subculture since if you're on a metal concert and there's a pogo happening you want to have some good protection.

There was a bit of a revival in the early-mid '90s among a couple of subcultures. I'll never forget when girls wore Docs with long floral dresses and big sunhats. If there's one '90s trend overdue for a comeback, it's that one.

Indeed- In this regard I would emphasize the facts that:
1) San (hunter gatherers) and Khoikoi (pastoralists, occasional vege farmers) had absolutely present in the area in which the Afrikaaners originally settled. From what I've read prior to the British re-writing the history of the Dutch in South Africa. It basically just was the Dutch expanding in regions that basically were sparsely settled and typically getting into small skirmishes that pushed the San and Khoikoi out of some of their territory or just letting the Khoikoi keep graze land in exchange for cows and information.

They didn't do too much steamrolling of natives and they actually did agree to basically not enslave tribes in the area, which some broke and got actually arrested for. They even had an agreement saying that anyone who settles past a certain river was fair game for raiders if the local chief didn't give the okay.
The British basically did what they usually do, which is interfere with the affairs of others and cause as much suffering as possible so they can come in and "civilize" an area. They supported a bunch of campaigns by aggressive chiefs when the their initial invasion failed. It's basically the grandfather CIA textbook idea of supporting "moderate rebels" because this literally happened as the same time as the US was being set up as a colony.

Donation Alerts has shit the bed. It was the primary superchat in viewer use & what Null reads first, but they pay out in either Paypal or into russian bank accounts via rubles. Null's Paypal that was associated with Donation Alerts has been banned, and he is not russian/does not have a russian bank account/has concerns about opening a russian bank account due to war sanctions in ongoing conflicts, so the money in his Donation Alerts account is trapped in limbo(for now).

He mentioned it for the first time on the Tuesday stream, right before the superberry segment, so I held back on donating that episode personally. Since no other announcement went out regarding it, I have since created a Rumble account and donated via a superchat in their system, which this nigger reads second so I'm really cheesed off If you're a donator under a different name or an aspirational parasocial hanger-on, the best way to digital throw shekels at the dancing monkey to make him "say the thing" is to use the embedded donation systems in either Rumble or Odysee. In regards to Rumble, when you create an account they are very unintuitive in how to submit payment info. I looked through the Profile/Account Settings 3 times before I realized that the money info there is only for when you want to cash out your own streams as a creator. If you just want to send superchats, you get to submit payment info like a credit or debit card during the stream in question while you have a chat pending. Click the $ icon, surrender your magic numbers, and wah-lah, highlighted one-sided jokes the feeder can't ignore. There seems to be a wordfilter on some words like "kill" so use your favorite Terraria substitutes to deliver some Gamer™ Words™ around censors.

Listening to the last MATI and I'd just like to correct Null on South Africa. He was generally close but not exactly. Luckily I'm rather autistic so I'm more than happy to explain in needless and pointless detail.

It's true that the Kalahari desert in Namibia prevented the south ward migration of the Bantu (black) Africans into the western Cape, but blacks did migrate along the eastern coast.


What prevented blacks from settling the western part of South Africa from the east was... well they didn't have the means to survive in the more arid western part. Having no crops (until European gave them crops leading to massive social upheaval among the bantu and the rise of the Zulu empire), and largely being cattle farmers and supplementing on hunting / gathering. Simply there wasn't enough for their cows to eat and not enough roots and berries for them to gather to support their population.
It's somewhat notable that blacks aren't the only racial group in Africa (which I've found is really difficult to explain to people... yes a continent like South Africa has multiple genetically and culturally distinct groups). Southern Africa had the Khoisan people, who had lived in southern Africa tens of thousands of years. Naturally when the more advanced Bantu migrated south they displaced the indigenous Khoisan people and pushed them into the more arid region where they existed largely in small hunter/gatherer groups widely distributed over the region. So when white people setup the cape colony they did have to content with the Khoisan, but they already got beaten out by the blacks so it wasn't much of a challenge.

What is true is that once the western cape got going is when black people started migrated there, but only later. Not really the Zulus. The Zulu people didn't exist until Shaka Zulu conquered and subjugated his neighbouring tribes (thanks to white people... although I'm not sure if the Portuguese are all that white...) to form the Zulu people... and he was born in the early 1800s. It was the Xhosa people and other neighbouring tribes, who lived closest to the cape colony, and who whites initially had some conflicts with as farmers started to expand eastwards. The Boers didn't really use that much black labour on the farms, more so using Khoisan or coloureds as they are known. South Africa didn't have huge manually intensive but low skill labour requirements on the farms like some other places (i.e. picking cotton) and when semi-skilled and skilled labour (mostly craftsman) was needed the whites imported Indians (why South Africa has the largest population of Indians outside of India). In the cape we also had the Cape Malays which is a fun story in and of itself.

There's a fun read here https://www.sahistory.org.za/article/empty-land-myth (feels a bit bias but just my opinion) although it doesn't do too much to dismiss the idea that blacks were a recent addition to southern Africa, it just puts large scale migration to at the earliest 1100s instead of the 1700s, which just means they entered the vague region of southern Africa and not even the western part a few hundred years before the first white colony.

So technically whites aren't the indigenous people that would be the Khoisan, but they do have a stronger claim to the western part than the blacks do.
