Jersh being an absolute goof about cheese. Yeah, Walmart doesn't carry much in the way of it - that's where blacks who can't eat/don't care about cheese, poorer whites who only care about a few cheeses, and Mexicans who only want three or four types of cheese (that they can't get from a local ethnic grocery). Targets carry just as poor a selection, but both can sometimes have a "gourmet" section that will sell a small selection of other cheeses.


Publix, HEB, Kroger's/Baker's/Fred Meyer's, Safeway, Hy-Vee, Aldi, etc all carry a more extensive selection. Costco and Sam's Club can be hit-or-miss.

I have to say, even as someone who grew up shopping at Publix, I am impressed with H.E.B., whenever Im in Texas.

Im in the midwest constantly, but usually do my grocery shopping at Walmart simply because it usually has reliable semi parking. Then again the only things I regularly buy are rice, chicken breast, and oats, so it doesnt really matter.

I live in a fairly small town and we have a Walmart, A Publix, a Winn Dixie, a dedicated Butcher, several dairy farms from whom you can directly buy raw milk, several cattle ranches where you can buy a half or full grass fed cow, farmers markets where you can buy fresh organic vegetables, etc. All in Central Florida. I think Jersh is just in denial over just how poor white trash his single mom really was.

The white trash roots would make a whole lot of sense honestly.

Yeah, I don't live in a city and every grocery store has a cheese section like you're showing. Admittedly I've never went looking for cheese in Walmart, so I can't speak to that. I also never really shop at Walmart so.

Aldi had me buying random cheese just to try it their selection was so good. Havarti has replaced cheddar in my diet mostly, their raw milk gruyere from Switzerland is great too! And this is 50 miles from a major metro. As much as I want to shittalk Null's sheltered shut-in life i entirely support his adoration of cheese as anyone who told me how much they dislike it wasn't white. Even Asians who genetically have poor lactose tolerance enjoy it as part of a snack - see those Korean street pancakes stuffed with cheese.

I love Aldi because their Euro imports are usually cheaper than comparable American products everywhere else. It lets me pretend to be sophisticated on a budget.

Yes! Wegman's is possibly the greatest supermarket to grace the east half of America. In-house bakery, deli in almost every single one.
Prices are steep but I am ok with it as the product standards are higher and the building is nice. Shame there are so few and local. But I imagine the west has an equivalent I do not know.

Before I bury you in the rock from the rocky mountains, does anyone from the west coast know of any similar supermarket chain?

I suspect most of the people who don't have access to a chesse-based-grocery store are not the rural people, or the suburban people, but the people in the actual cities where you get a food desert where the only place close by is probably a bodega or similar where not only do you not get non-cheddar cheese, but minimal fresh produce and meat.
