I'm a catholic so I do believe in the second coming being the end to everything. As for predeterminism I think in some ways Christ's passion is a great example of fate, Jesus from the very moment he was born was destined to die a martyr he just didn't know how. Jesus instead of giving into sorrow or abandoning his duty righteously marched to his death whilst healing the sick and the blind only to be thanked by being spit on and slapped. I feel for Null that he has to deal with complete bullshit by people who don't deserve their positions of power but at the end of the day I doubt the outcome of a war that was almost 100 years ago would put Null in a better position.

I read a book a while ago that touched briefly, it's a biography about a Russian soldier who fought in both Chechen wars, One Soldier War by Arkady Babchenko.
Yea, the older soldiers would regularly beat the shit out of the younger soldiers, the one time Arkady stood up for himself, they tried to rape him but he pulled a shard of glass on them.
