today we have a tin of King oliver's north Atlantic mackerel (very low mercury) in olive oil

gonna give this banger a 10/10 it's actually really fucking good and i don't think i've ever had mackerel before in my entire life

straight out the tin, room temperature, little black pepper after an initial taste test. this one's going in the bunker guys.

Mackerel is very good stuff, and considered an easy to grab and eat "super food". At least around here.
I mostly eat it on ryebread because of Danefag, and in these tins with tomato sauce and cucumber or bell peppers on top.
Total fish supremacy.

A quick hot meal I made when I was working 60+ hour weeks was a can of whatever fish I had on hand mixed into 1 cup cooked brown rice and topped with some white wine vinegar.

On the topic of canned fish, lemon juice can be handy to plus things up as it is with most seafood, also I recommend a sauce, which can make the cheaper, shittier fish more palatable, and give a kick to the good fish if you're looking for it. There's different types of bread, crackers etc. you can try as well. This is my go-to but the downside is nobody near me sells it so I have to buy it online and it's not cheap.


If you want a fishy breakfast you can make fisherman's eggs which is basically just sardines and eggs cooked together, basically a sardine omelette, you can add other ingredients like onions peppers etc.

I know most stuff in the USA will be boneless fillets, but my dad used to swear by this brand from Canada that sold whole mackerel. Bone-in fish has some minor health benefits, and is usually better quality, but is more expensive.
