Glossip, who was sentenced to death for the 1997 murder-for-hire plot in the death of Barry Van Treese, has been on death row for more than 20 years and has had his execution halted nine times. The death row inmate has always maintained his innocence.

Another man, Justin Sneed, admitted to robbing and killing Van Treese after Glossip promised to pay him $10,000. Sneed received a life sentence in exchange for his testimony and was the key witness against Glossip.

The decision means that Glossip is entitled to a new trial.

"We are thankful that a clear majority of the Court supports long-standing precedent that prosecutors cannot hide critical evidence from defense lawyers and cannot stand by while their witnesses knowingly lie to the jury," Glossip's attorney, Don Knight, said in a statement. This happened a few weeks ago, but just as a refresher here's my working slide on it in case it helps anyone. This incident happened in Mexico, well south of the border. Personally, wouldn't classify this incident as Occurring "near Brownsville" (it's about 70-80 miles south of the border).I haven't really been able to pin down exactly where the IED was planted due to conflicting information and changing stories (which might be what we call an indicator).
Just wanted to get ahead of the inevitable media hysteria on this, since the below statement doesn't really provide much context that's particularly helpful.
