I've added channel memberships because I like money and Jim said that if they disable your ability to enable channel memberships you're on some sort of secret shit list.

Any ideas for what I can use for badges and emojis? They need to be family-friendly and apolitical. @Spelling Bee?
How many badges and emojis are you allowed to have on your channel?

Channel membership badges come in precisely 6 count: Brand New, 1 Month, 2 Month, 6 Month, 1 Yr, and 2 Yr flavors.
Emojis seem to be unlimited.

YouTube suggests this.
  • A custom badge that’s meaningful to your viewers is more likely to encourage them to become a member of your channel. For example, use your logo or an image that connects them to you. Don’t upload badges that violate YouTube's Community Guidelines, including hateful or sexual imagery. Also, avoid images that are too detailed because they’re hard to see at a small size.
  • Consider your audience: What inside jokes do you have with your viewers? What do you commonly say in your videos? What reactions do you expect people to have to your content? Don’t use emoji that violate YouTube's Community Guidelines, including hateful or sexual imagery. Also, avoid images that are too detailed because they’re hard to see at a small size.

I'm thinking on what to do with badges. I like something that represents anger, like when we did that nuclear bomb logo for the hosting service. It might be worth it just to re-appropriate that in the form of a badge and lay over an 8-bit style 1/2/6/12/24 number over it.

I got an idea: what if the badges get progressively more angry with each ranking?
Shitty 3 minute mockup:

That's great dude, just keep in mind how they'd look at a small res and next to a username as a sort of badge
Badges will be rendered at 14 px x 14 px in comments and the Community tab and 16 px x 16 px in live chat.
Good gravy.

Well, it looks like a kiwi will look just fine when scaled down:

I may have to tinker a bit with the numbers, though. I wonder if it would be a better idea to just leave them out and let the kiwi's anger indicate the level instead.

EDIT:

Hmm

By the way, this weekend, if conditions allow, I want to do a stream on China. I have contacts in China who'll be willing to help answer questions. If there are certain China-related questions you have, I'm willing to take some now.

Goal will be Sunday, but because of China's timezones it'd be really early morning on Monday for him unless we stream late afternoon US EST. However, Jim's timeslot is usually around that time US EST. If he doesn't announce a stream by Saturday I'll probably do it then.

How widely implemented is the social credit system and how do people monitor their own score or check on people? Is there a government portal they can check or credit reporting agencies?

Not even sure how to phrase this properly but why do the Chinese completely neglect common/public property? I have been told it's something to do with not wanting to pay more for something but is this Face related or what?

What, if any, policy plans are there to deal with the long-term impacts of the one child policy? How are they going to deal with the increasing desertification of the regions south of the Gobi?

@Null What do real Chinese people think about their government and what do Chinese people think about one another?

Two questions, don't hate me.

i got some china knowledge and i'm on bj time. wouldnt mind hopping on the stream to spread the red message.

i can answer that one. right now it's implemented on a city-by-city basis, so the whole thing isn't quite standardized yet. this is common in china. whenever some country-wide proposal comes down from beijing, it turns into a rat race among the biggest cities to see who can implement it the fastest and gain good boy points from the ccp.

currently though there's a privately owned website/app called Tianyancha that some people "important enough" can use to check the scores of themselves and others.

https://www.tianyancha.com/
https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/tianyancha#section-overview

however, if you're just an average joe, too poor, not a company owner, not high up enough in the government, etc. then you can't know your score. (however, you can ask friends to do it for you, like if they work in a bank or something).

again though there's not a country-wide, standardized system for this yet, but there should be one in the coming years.

I can't do that because google doesn't recognize Israel as a country

Would an EZ PZ collab be possible? It'd be hilarious to get a more detailed Zaiger retrospective than dank's 10 minute video

Sounds like fun. We added a bunch of videos of him coked up that we got from his ex. There's also some audio of him calling her from jail that I didn't upload yet.
