So I guess Madge found out that everyone born post 1977 thinks she's a lil washed up now
cringe
haters f off

Mmm no, mostly we are just waiting for you to just be rich and fade into quiet obscurity and hopefully stop embarrassing yourself/your children more than you already are.
Why does the article say she’s 50-something, isn’t she over 60 now?

"Stop trying to police my behavior! Waaaaahhh!"

Nobody is trying to police her behavior. We are, however, laughing AT her at this point.

Shit, I was born pre-1967, and am not enough of a boomer to think she's doing anything but basking in the fading light of her past career glory. Nobody really gives a shit about Madonna anymore except out of nostalgia for her best songs, all of which are well over 20 years old (1998's Ray of Light was her last decent album, imo; Music was okay but not great).

The only young(er) people I can think of who are Madonna fans and actually buy her music are all gay (or particularly ardent allies), all wrapped up in identifying themselves with "gay culture," and since Madonna has been a huge gay icon, well, of course they adore her.
Well to be honest everyone is afraid of getting old and dying... It's even scarier to see Madonna and think anyone can also possibly become an elderly person with no awareness of reality, struggling to come to grasp with their own failings :heart-empty:
The problem Madonna was always going to face, even if she continued to make solid studio albums, was time. She was inevitably going to age, and that wasn't going to be kind to her.

Her various images throughout the years have almost all relied on her ability to project an aggressive sexuality--which, for a female performer, works when she's young, and in some cases can continue to do so into early middle age. But there always comes a point where no matter how fit she is, no matter how well she takes care of herself, and whatever measures she takes to stay youthful-looking, her acting out an in-your-face sexuality turns into grotesque comedy. She becomes a lewd hag. It all becomes sad and desperate and icky, rather than exciting.
Imagine creating a character called Madame X in 2019, or putting a "(laugh out loud)" explanation on social media. My terror is palpable indeed!
To be fair, that parenthetical "(laugh out loud)" is not in her original Insta post; whoever wrote the article inserted that. Maybe they thought any boomers reading it might need help.
Why does the article say she’s 50-something, isn’t she over 60 now?
She'll be 61 in August.

At first I thought, "Madge, you dummy; don't you know you're not supposed to respond to your haters by now?"

But hey, look--she did it, and some news outlets picked up on it, and now we're here, talking about Madonna. She was able to put herself back in the headlines. Granted, we're not talking about her recent creative efforts (except to note they've been autotuned crap), but we are talking about her. So I guess that's something? I'm pretty sure that's what she was going for, because when you're Madonna, any attention at all can be seen as proof of your own relevance, even when it's eye-rolling and mockery.

I've noticed that some people (women for the most part) who were teens/young adults when Madge was huge in the 80s still look fondly towards her - although I have to admit they're wearing rose-tinted nostalgia glasses and I doubt they really check out her new stuff, probably because they can smell the stench miles away and want to keep good memories of her.

I know I'm late, but regarding gay actors/singers in the entertainment world, there's a whole world waiting to be discovered if you want to dig into it. Most producers and movie moguls at the time knew who of their stars were gay or bisexual, and in order to cover it up, they'd arrange fake relationships or even marriages to make sure their sexual orientation would remain a secret to the public. There were rumors for years that Rudolf Valentino was a beard in both of his marriages (yes for the first one, no for the second, although Natacha Rambova's sexuality is subject to debate due to be linked to Alla Nazimova, as I will explain later on). Judy Garland was a beard in a few of her marriages, notably with Vincente Minnelli. Van Johnson had to marry a woman to hide his sexuality as well. And then you had Vincent Price who was bisexual, like his wife was, and the two of them had an open marriage.

In the silent era, there were so-called "sewing circles", which was a code name for the lesbian actresses gravitating around Hollywood, who were linked one way or another to Alla Nazimova, who was openly homosexual. Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo were both linked to those "sewing circles" - no surprise here for Dietrich, since she was openly bisexual and no one really cared because she had a femme fatale persona to keep up. Greta Garbo on the other hand was known to be extremely private, including for her relationships, so people will still debate about her sexuality today.

Whether movie moguls tolerated it or not depended on the guy - Louis B. Mayer for instance didn't mind, as long as the actor or actress stayed discreet about it. The only one who refused was William Haines, who was openly living with his boyfriend Jimmie Shields and refused to get a beard, which pretty much meant the end of his film career. And then, on the other side of the spectrum, you've got actors like Montgomery Clift who were tortured by their sexuality their entire life, and that caused in part their early end...

I love history professors who can't spell "otherwise".

Turning 61 in a month's time.
I'm surprised nobody called her a sexagenarian.

"Stop trying to police my behavior! Waaaaahhh!"
I must admit I'm impressed by her ability to pick up cool kids' lingo.

I guess calling random people gay is okay again lol
My best guess is that the article made a "typo" to shave a decade off her age

Madonna cancels final U.S. concert, citing 'indescribable pain': 'I consider myself a warrior'

Madonna has scrapped the final date of her U.S. tour, citing "indescribable" pain that could cause "irreversible damage" to her body.

The announcement came just hours before the scheduled start time, drawing some ire from fans who had traveled to Miami for the performance.

According to the pop star, while climbing an on-stage ladder over the weekend, "I was in tears from the pain of my injuries," she wrote on social media. "With every song I sang, I said a prayer that I would make it to the next and get thru the show. My prayers were answered and I made it."

After the performance, the 61-year-old says she spent several days undergoing scans, ultrasounds and X-rays, suffering "poking and probing and more tears."

Madonna apologized for the cancelation announcement, which may or may not have surprised fans; she's scrapped and postponed several tour dates this year due to her injuries, even leading one aggrieved fan to file a lawsuit against her. His argument is that arriving significantly late is a breach of contract between the performer and the ticket buyer.

Many fans have voiced frustration over the last-minute updates, especially those who've spent hours in arenas waiting for delayed concerts to begin. After beginning her Philadelphia performance two and a half hours late in August, she blamed the start time on technical adjustments: "“I want to apologize for being late. We had many changes to make from Europe to America, and I wanted the show to be perfect for you because my fans deserve it and quite frankly I deserve it," she reportedly told the crowd.

Subsequent cancelations, however, were attributed to injuries, including three Boston performances that she backed out of due to "overwhelming pain."

Madonna plans to continue the next leg of her tour in January 2020.

"I consider myself a warrior," she said in her Instagram post this week. "I never quit, I never give in, I never give up!! However this time I have to listen to my body and accept that my pain is a warning."

60 year old woman is shocked she can't throw herself around in dance routines anymore, more at 9

I'm betting by 'knee' she means hip, she is just aware that a hip injury makes her sound old and worn out...

If it really is her hip no surprise there. But sheos in pain because she is too old to act like she is in her 20s. She really should have toned down her act more. But no. She's gotta be that dirty old lady that thinks she is still young and sexy.

Heard that the food in her concerts is really bad, in the VIP lounge no less: https://madonna-infinity.net/forums/topic/21181-vip-experience-qa/

Gotta love the carrot and cookie plate.

These VIP experiences are very expensive. They could have at least gotten some catering that didn't look like it was picked up at a supermarket at 2am.

My uncle used to work at Sam Goody in the 80s. The company ran a window dressing contest where the store that won got to meet Madonna. My uncle was an art student at the time and his display was picked as the winner. He hated Madonna anyway. But he said that she was a bitch and she smelled really bad. Of course that was a long time ago. Maybe her hygiene is better now.

She's not even recognizable anymore, I wonder if she has any sensation left in her face. She's suddenly got Asian eyes, and her eyebrows don't move at all.

>Tries to be relatable to millenials/zoomers
> Showing off her rich-boomer bathroom

What is wrong with being a cool grandma? It's way more dignified than being an even more emanciated Mum-Ra

There is nothing more embarrassing than a sixty year old acting like a teenager. Why do it? Teens are fucking awful and have terrible taste. Maybe she should beg to be mentored by Meryl Streep, Helen Miriam, Angelica Houston, etc..

It seems her self-worth was really entirely contingent on commercial sex appeal afterall. The amount of beauty products crammed on every flat surface in that bathroom is staggering.

She filmed that in the bathroom, after hours of make-up, because of the lighting. It’s the modern online version of Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire. Blanche needed soft dim light, but Madonna needs ultra bright white-out light for the drag queen make-up to work.

I think she‘d be buying the blood of infants to bathe in if it worked. I guess buying dependent children to love her is a consolation prize.

It must be a terribly sad and shallow existence at the very core of it. A cavernous void left by daddy that all the beauty products and African orphans in the world cannot fill, but she’ll die trying
