Even if it was the company's idea, they should have went to the EDH rules com and the community and ask them to roll out the idea. Have game knights do a couple of "extra turns" episodes with the brawl format as a quicker variant and people would be more on board.
Last thing they should do is talk to the EDH rules committee those chucklefuck fence sitters won't do anything.

I kind of like (standard) brawl because it's straight forward singleton with a command zone and you eat good on retards who think it's 1v1 commander and you'll just let them durdle until turn 7 to see what their deck does even though everyone knows what the hell Etali does in standard. I played a bit of Mr. Orfeo "hold your removal for my commander and see if I care all my cards are efficient threats at any power/toughness" tribal, Thalia and Gitrog midrange which was the same thing without the flings and a better commander and Queza which was just singleton esper control deck with a commander that mostly does nothing.

I like the current state of EDH solely because my wife likes the fluffy wuffy animals of BLB and thus has allowed me to spend more of our money on cardboard if it'll get her a cute commander for her cute (possibly Mabel) deck. I agree on most points of latest discussion though, Brawl against 2 Baral's and a durdly ass Scarab God when it was "big" was the bane of my god damn existence. Then again, I don't go to big LGS's anymore, so I avoid most of the sweats. There's always some nigga with an attitude and a slivers deck that will say to your face "nah, my deck is like a 6 bro" like that's a possibility. I just wish we could go back to 2013 EDH before people "figured it out" and either play the most boring infinite combo imaginable or "yeah I'm playing Edgar Markov / Ur-Dragon, what of it?". Remember when Oloro was the worst thing ever? That lifegain just from sitting on the command zone, so oppressive!

Well, Duskmourn spoilers begin, we’ve been given the whole story in six parts, some interesting alternative arts, and what I believe is a very power crept planeswalker with a bonkers +1 ability: View attachment 6368134
Very strong card. Could maybe help revive UB Ninjas in Legacy. Surveil 2 that sometimes also draws a card is in the running for best zero ability of all time.

I think the new giant demon has serious potential as a reanimation target.

I’ve been very vocal about my view that Duskmourn is a flop in the making, but I now fully believe that to be in the flavor department only. This set is probably going to be a horrible draft format, but Im beginning think that a lot of the cards are going to make waves in modern and legacy. I do think that’s in part to the ban of grief and Nadu, but I won’t be surprised if the health of most extended formats does a 180 from where it is now. I also, horror of all horrors, *might* look into paper standard. I feel like I should see a fucking shrink to make sure I’m not going insane.

I... what?

(You may cast either half. That door unlocks on the battlefield. As a sorcery, you may pay the mana cost of a locked door to unlock it.)

I feel sorry for the judges when someone builds a deck to flicker these.

If you flicker it I actually think you don't get either side, unlocking a door is a part of casting it.

And everything else it interacts with.... like phasing, cascade/discover, all the other stuff out there...

The idea of kicker on a permanent where you can later mana sink it for additional bonuses is... ok? I just don' t know this is doing stuff better than stuff like classes.

It's pretty simple, actually. Rooms follow all the rules normal split cards do when they aren't on the battlefield.

When on the battlefield, they seem to operate fairly intuitively.

Honestly, the streamlining of the rules for split cards they did a while back preemptively fixed most of the weirdness that could have happened with these.

I disagree with this. Valgavoth is legit the most horrifying thing in mtg, and that's saying something when the Eldrazi, Yawgmoth, and the Phyrexians were once a thing.
I don't think that the plane is going to be visited again since it is pretty much post apocalyptic, but wow is that lore good.

What the hell are you smoking? Duskmorn lore is terrible. It's essentially an excuse for an evil haunted house trying to ruin your day with zero thought given to how the fuck people survive for longer than 5 minutes.
