It's obvious that one of the boomers in charge of Arena or the boomers they report to doesn't really understand the real cost of free promotional product in a digital card game ($0.00) and insists that everyone value free packs at whatever value they would have if you bought them at full price USD. Nothing else makes sense. Literally any Chinese male under the age of 35 would be better at their job; on-boarding retards into digital gambling addiction
They really could just take a page out of the Pokémon playbook and put booster codes in every pack (maybe with a cap on the number you can redeem from each set to not go crazy over it) and they’d probably move more players to arena. That or make the codes into an additional ingame currency that can be redeemed for wild cards. That would solve the arena economy issue players have and would drive pack opening.

There is literally no reason to put a cap on using the codes. It just means people are buying and opening tons of packs. Reselling the codes will never be profitable for the sellers so it doesn't matter if they try to do it. Maybe it'll cut into their profits on the digital thing but as previously pointed out, those are already overpriced anyway.
Western F2P game devs don't understand that free to play games need free to players in order to have a population of people for the premium players to play against, so the F2P economy has to be minimally viable for people who are determined to never spend a dime on the game.

My inclusion of the cap was less about actually wanted it implemented and more playing devils advocate for the corporate retards that have brain worms that can’t let them not charge for things that could be free. I would love for them to 100% use the Pokémon model (I have so many Pokémon code cards that I will never use and are worthless, which is good), but I still remember when you could use as many of the prerelease bundle codes as you opened on arena, and WOTC losing their shit and making it limited to one code per account. If it was more viable to play arena for free without grinding mono red, I might actually reinstall it. But that would require someone with pre-covid sensibilities to be in charge at ANY LEVEL, so it’ll never happen.

Look at that premium framing of the crappy Chandra art, they couldn't even crop it right.

It was an MTG league for anyone that is a non-white male, so basically it's a diversity pick that gets a Pro Tour invite, until now. It is not to be confused with the Vintage Magic League events that were run years ago before this VML was a thing.
Oh, wow magical how fast that got dropped

Was this the same group that had the one troon on it that was exposed for cheating recently?

Oh, oh boy.

Vagina Mandated League. Players either had to be born with a vagina (lol, yeah right) or be wiling to get one installed to participate.
Haha there's no way that's what its called...right?
>Go to their official website
>Absolutely no mention of what VML actually stands for

[worried_laughter.mp4]

Oh its actually "Venus and Mercury League".

New Start Your Engines is....Interesting. I want to see more black cards with it, currently Zahur is perfect for his colours. Exhaust seems like I can get some use out of it in a few of my red Commander decks and works well for a green/ red goblin deck with Redshift as the commander. Why does Basri have cats? Why are they those enchantment creatures from the second last set? Still not liking Loot. Who thought MTG needed a mascot? The Aetherspark is surprisingly okay. Trying to decide on which deck to add it to. Mendicant Core, Guidelight is likely going to be a commander I build around with this set.

Okay, which of you degenerates told WotC to make a large breasted frog goddess?

New Chandra doesn't feel like Chandra. Why is she making vehicles? Why does she care about artifacts now? Least her ultimate is easy to break.

The art for Elvish Refueler is ugly as fuck.

Not one of the four Commanders seem fun to play, but least they should be giving us new energy cards. Depending on what's added I could give Pai Nalaar, Chief Mechanic a shot.

The artwork is a little different, you can see the top of her head now.

Meh, what a boring set. Start Your Engines is mostly win harder for aggro decks and nothing else and exhaust effects seem underwhelming. Vehicles are still bad, mounts are still very bad.

Start Your Engines is just another type of Impending effect except you still get a creature and just have to wait for it to get better. However it doesn't use counters so there's currently no way to manipulate it. Unless they start showing cards that do.
