None of that is at the feet of EDH, it is however one of the reasons that EDH is the most popular format because constructed has been mismanaged and fucked go shit
None of this is untrue, but EDH is 100% responsible for changes in card design on both a broader philosophical level such as White getting better card draw and down to individual designs such as Nadu. It does have an influence on the wider game and you're being disingenuous if you say otherwise. They've admitted it repeatedly.

Nor was Standard in the way it exists. Richard didnt think people would get full sets of shit.
Magic had an entire Golden Age well past the point that it was understood that the game would be played with competitive in mind. See Mirage-Tempest, Odyssey, Kamigawa-Time Spiral (and Kamigawa block constructed), Return to Ravnica (before Dragon's Maze) and probably others that aren't coming to mind.

Politics help you improve exactly zero in edh. Threat Assessment does but that counts in "real" magic too.
This is just patently false.

I enjoy playing EDH now and then and have a couple of different groups I play it with. I play a few different colors and archetypes. But it's not some perfect format just because 50,000,000 screaming Elvis fans started with it. Regardless, I'll stop arguing.

I want them to not print 4000000 cards a day
I think we can all agree with this.

I've grown frustrated enough with commander lately I've kind of started convincing some of my playgroup to give standard brawl a chance. Or we'll do "block builds" where your deck has to be entirely from one set.

It has just made me really wish WOTC would stop with the commander decks save for an annual special product and were doing brawl releases showcasing set mechanics. (I'm still kind of angry I picked up the Mardu commander deck and it had like... 2 mobilize cards in it and was otherwise just generic tokens.)
Something that my playgroup does is that we do "thematic leagues" where we choose a theme and we build edh decks around it. Now since we all have been buying cards since forever, we can build all sorts of stuff so i wouldnt recommend this unless your playgroup has a collection of cards or just proxy. For example one time set the rule that the commander had to be a god from theros and their partner is their priest and you first had to cast the "priest" and then in order to be able to cast your commander you had to have the devotion on the field. Is wacky and maybe a bit convoluted i know but it leads to some wacky politics and interactions.

But ill admit that sometimes i just need something extra to make shit fun in Edh which leads me to my previous paragraph. Also Planechase is a fun option you can explore.

I'm unfortunately thinking about booting back up mtg arena after a long hiatus. What is standard and arena like nowadays?

So I've gotten to do some of the final fantasy limited and I generally like it except one thing that has started to bother me about limited in general.

Do we need "Common giant dorks with upsides that also have Landcyling so you can just jam 2 of them in your deck for free"

I think it's a fine way to fix mana screw/mana flood in limited plus they made the cycling two mana now instead of one.
I think it is starting to get really boring with the more powerful ones.

"Oops here is 6/6 Trample that gains you life that you can just jam with no cost in deck building"

Poor dreadmaul.

I do like that they're doing land cycling regular now but... hell like you said, they really should just go on vanilla or french vanilla creatures.

I partially agree with this, but for this set at least it kinda makes sense, since both simic and gruul kinda rely on having lands.
I don’t think it’s that bad of a design to be repeated at least, because it enables decks rather than linearizes them. At the end of the day, it means you get to play more cards. Which I think is always fun.

I will also say drafting the FF set blind made me feel like I’ve never played magic before. Maybe I’m just retarded, but the signposting was pretty much absent, and cards very obviously made for commander didn’t make it any more clear.

EDIT: I do however kinda fuck with some of the mechanics. I am a big fan of the black mages being guttersnipe tokens, and it’s probably the first time in a long time I want to build and play an Edh deck for them

I just want the cycling cards to not be Win Condition tier creatures.

I am also kind of getting bored of the "3 of the same green saga creature" decks if only because I had a Yuna first pick...and I literally saw zero green saga creatures because they are so good that you just pick them no matter what you are doing.

Im really excited to build Minstrel since ill finally have an excuse to use my tap lands. Also thinking of doing Ardbert deck just to see how aggro can i go with Orzhov colors

Black/White can be pretty aggro, put in an anthem or 2 to make your dorks big.

Ardbert is Orzhov legendaries matter, but yeah aggro Orzhov is usually just Mardu tokens without red.
You can do legendary aggro, lots of good legends on Orzhov, you can even put in that one Odric that spreads keywords to everyone.

You even got flowering of the white tree to give everything ward.

And you got access to Gideons which are pretty aggro for a planeswalker.
The new jumpstart legendary Urdnan, Dromoka Warrior might be really scary because every turn you cast a black spell everything gets menace because of Ardbert and because you are also a +1 counters deck Urdnan will give one thing double strike forcing really unfavorable blocks.
