How so? Im not being combative, I just dont keep up with the game...I just barf everything I see gay shit like spider man or my little pony on a magic card.
Spiderman was a bit of an outlier. Mechanically-speaking (to say nothing of if you're a fan of the franchises in question) both Final Fantasy and Avatar were very solid sets in Draft, Standard, and EDH. Top three sets of 2025 in no particular order were Tarkir: Dragonstorm, Final Fantasy, and Avatar: the Last Airbender and I don't think anyone could argue otherwise. In fact, I think for a lot of people Dragonstorm would be an easy third place. Wizards either can't or isn't willing to put the same effort into Universes Within.

I know that the Omenpaths thing is a while ago noe but i remember looking at those spiderman card and wondering how they could make an MTG universe equivalent that made sense.

And they didn't, they just made a bunch of plain dumb cards.

The draft format got solved in a week, and henceforth at higher levels was Boros VS 5c goodstuff. There have been a lot of formats in the last few years where there aren't a ton of viable color combinations, but this took the cake for most on-rails. It also had a few bombs that were Avatar-level of unbeatable, like the temur dragon that was nigh-impossible to actually remove.

Its only saving grace was how bad the other ones were. Aetherdrift was obscenely slow and grindy, EoE was stupidly swingy and had way too many boardwipes, and Spider-Man may be the worst limited format in modern history. Its aesthetic was the closest to magic, but all you have to do is look through original KTK-FRF-DTK and see the stark decline: zombies covered up and made effeminate so we can ship it to china (despite the lack of localization), all of the historical clothing and armor references removed because that might be offensive, and same-y art outside of the showcases.

So it probably is third-place, but there's a massive chasm between it and the two good UB sets.

To say nothing of the addition of Cori-Steel Cutter to constructed formats, where I'm still awaiting a ban in Pioneer.

I skipped DFT for obvious reasons. EOE is one of the worst draft formats I've ever seen. I would've skipped SPM but I literally got paid to draft it and it was also one of the worst draft formats I've ever seen.

The nuTarkir art direction is sickening, anything that looks cool is almost a fluke. Don't forget them neutering Rakshasa. It's sad too because when I show newer players the older art they unanimously prefer the slightly classic, slightly edgier vibes.

What is up with the artists doing art that looks Jackson Pollock threw up.

WTF is even happening in those images? It may look ok on a giant canvas, but the second you shrink it down to a 3x5" cardboard you can't tell what is going on.

What you aren't excited for MDFC spam in Strixhaven to represent all the "alternate" timeline versions of characters?

I can't wait for EVIL DEMON GIDEON to show up..

I can't believe Gideon became a Rowling, he must have liked some naughty tweets.

This starts to convince me the "hypertumor" theory of large animals might be true...

(Basically the cancer in large mammals develops cancer itself.)
It's probably why companies play it so safe by rehashing existing IPs over and over, everything new they try always ends up being complete shit as they get infiltrated by grifters and ideologies once they reach a certain size.

External IP holders probably tell them to give a shit as part of the contract
Or unlike the actual lore they give a shit about the IPs

Whole bunch of cards got leaked on reddit right now.
LMAO

Ok so strixhaven subplot is hexhaven confirmed by WOTC survey and Reality Shift or what the fuck its called is going to be planar chaos 2 with colorbent planeswalker ala white liliana and ice chandra (chilldra?) from alt reality jace created. Im willing to put money down on this mark nosewater and his posse is going to make this alternate reality perma cannon and then they will kill mtg storyline (for good this time). Id be okay if they commited to evil jace but that fucker never seems 2 go away probably has a misunderstood anti hero actually good intentions shit arc and becomes blue forgiven thanos fuck wizards fuck marky fuck that bald fuck and fuck youtube for making all my recommendations commander content fuck fuck fuck.

Either that or they'll do planar deportations and it'll be a bad thing.

I think we get a full year of UB sets after reality break because the lore is such a failure and they obviously give no shits about it.

Much more reasonable to do an in all ways worse version of the effect on a 3 mana creature that dies to shock, stone cold unplayable version outside of non C EDH and limited (probably pretty good there, should have been an uncommon)

Better question is WHY are they making sorcerer a new and distinct tribal from wizard, if you feel like their connection too inate to fit as a wizard you already have Shaman and Warlock you fucks

Don't care if it is less powerful we just had to ban this style of effect out of a bunch of formats and they know people can understand a more complex version of how this is supposed to work because we have expend.

They wont stop printing cards that dick around with mana costs so they really need to stop printing cards like this
