You're about halfway there. A recruiter is a thirst trap, a person who is out to trick men into throwing away their lives.

A fat, gross black woman would make a terrible recruiter, as would any woman speaking at a podium. Recruiter of the Guard should be some sexy barmaid who gets you blackout drunk and then drags you to the recruitment station on the promise of sex.

Or even just instead of pointing her finger like she wants to speak to your manager, have her holding up a "soldiers wanted" parchment.

People (like me) very smugly replied "Just rule 0 it with your pod", only to be informed "But I won't be able to use them at FNM to win packs!"

The reason the bracket system, or the 10-point scale, or any other system they come up with will never work is that most EDHfags want to have their cake and eat it too, and WotC likes this because it means they spend money.
Yeah, this is ultimately the case. It puts it into perspective, because people who are actually enjoyable to play the game with will drop a few hundred over the course of the year, maybe, especially if they draft. These blubbering, annoying whales will drop hundreds every single visit to the store - to speak nothing of what they're dumping buying singles or on wholesale from Amazon. Oh, and stores that give away packs for EDH as anything other than door prizes are retarded and deserve their fate.
The culture breeds this kind of behavior. It might not be the format they need, but it's the format they deserve.
I feel they always flock to the most-popular format where they can thread the line and get away with this. I remember this kind of person playing in paper standard back in the days when it existed, but after EDH caught on, that's where they flocked to. As a Limited enjoyer, I never really have to deal with them there; and any of the other formats have a pretty serious skill-and-knowledge barrier that you can't blurt through just by spending more cash.

I think as we move more deeply into this recession, we'll start to see a bit of comeuppance with these guys, though. I'm sure some number of them actually did make decent cash, but I always got this feeling it was people maxing out their credit cards and hitting their minimums.

What I'm looking for is a complete redesigned of the art in a card. I use recruited as an example because she fits the mold of cards I use but hate the art of. I happened to think the OG art is better and invokes the name of the card a lot more than the unnecessary MH3 update.

I get WotC's incessant need to shove nigresses into every set, but it can still be done in a way that won't make people roll their eyes so I'm not asking for a raceswap, just better art. Hell I'd settle for a man being the recruiter a lot more if it meant the art wasn't so cringe.

Knew a guy like this firsthand. For point of comparison, I think my most expensive EDH deck is ~$300 and it's one that I've assembled over 20+ years of playing the game. This loser had been playing for a year, was one of the most aggressively competitive (despite not having the chops for it at all) players I've ever met, and had dropped over a grand on his first deck in lieu of just learning threat assessment, running interaction, or taking the time to politick.

I feel they always flock to the most-popular format where they can thread the line and get away with this. I remember this kind of person playing in paper standard back in the days when it existed, but after EDH caught on, that's where they flocked to.
Standard definitely did and still does attract these types to an extent. A lot of them probably get their fix climbing the Bo1 ladder in Arena now. I think EDH just makes it worse because the overall skill level is much lower, sideboarding is nonexistent, and most importantly the culture of rule 0 and loose bans makes it very easy to pubstomp. In a constructed 1v1 event you're pretty much guaranteed to be running into guys who are playing something t2 or higher that know exactly how to pilot it so the odds of just bulldozing someone with cash and prayers is far lower.

I think as we move more deeply into this recession, we'll start to see a bit of comeuppance with these guys, though. I'm sure some number of them actually did make decent cash, but I always got this feeling it was people maxing out their credit cards and hitting their minimums.
They'll start falling off like mayflies and you might even see the EDH bubble start to pop. The handful that care to adapt and have the maturity to take their knocks will start branching out into formats like Pauper, Pioneer, or Premodern, where the barrier to entry is relatively low.

If they just made the negresses hot (I know, I know, oxymoron) I'd care far less. I'm not here to jerk off to cardboard but I'd like to look at things that are aesthetically pleasing. Somehow I don't think the sense of revulsion I get from the modern art direction is intentional in the same way it was when I was looking at demons and horrors in the early 00s.

I wonder if there's any proxy makers that do tasteful redesigns of ugoo cards. Not full coomer bait, more akin to the art we would get back in the early 2000's when you could draw women that wouldn't all look like Aunt Jemima.
Sorry for the doublepost, but on this note you can always download Cardconjurer and run it to make your own high quality customs. I've contemplated doing an entire deck of fine art proxies, but I'm too lazy to ever finish it.

Yeah, won't happen.
I've actually seen a few pretty black women; and typically they are the ones who do not follow the sterotypical looks of fat and angry/bitchy/loud and obnoxious, and more importantly were generally from the Carribean british isles/elsewhere in the world and entirely seperated from the US niggerculture.
The people who want to force diversity and run this kind of art style and design are generally the most basic ass milque-toast, ignorant low level racist who think skin colour is a determinning factor on how you must act, dress or behave (as opposed to the real niggas who are racist through a much deeper understanding of a given races cultures and behaviours) and will always lean heavily on sterotypes to make the characters as unappealing as possible because "that's just how they are". Have to remember these are the same people who think niggers need special treatment because "They don't even know what a computer is".

Like, going back to the en-niggerification of several LOTR characters for the card set, while simultaniously almost entirely ignoring the Rhúnedain/Easterlings outside of like maybe three cards as a faction entirely which would of been a faction almost entirely made up of middle-eastern to black people goes to show their levels of ignorance.

A longer rant than intended, my bad.

I kid, of course, I've known some absolutely stunning black women. But you are correct that these people fetishize anything ugly or unappealing and they take relish in your merited upset.

Well I played the Elemental deck unaltered (I like to play a precon raw before upgrading) and... whoever doubted Ashling as any good were idiots. She is every bit a kill on sight commander as O.G. Khalia.

At one point I got her and the Mass of Mysteries out. Evoked this guy...

The copy then can return your original to hand. Then you give the copy mryiad, and get 2 more things out of the graveyard.

At a different point another player had added the twinflame to the deck and it landed on the battlefield...

Do you like paying 3 mana to evoke mull drifter and then drawing 12 cards? I can tell you one guy who really enjoyed that value. Oh right, he had Risen Reef out, so that was like an additional 6 cards he got to fondle.

At this point if WOTC is going to keep putting in copy effects into their precons then the things should just come with a dozen infinitokens.

Alright my fellow Kiwi Kard Kollectors, I think I’ve got a solid attempt at pass one of Bant “Kithkin”. Even without a lot of ‘good’ Kithkin, I think I’ve got a solid creature pool to work with. I’m down for suggestions for changes or cards I should have included from the getgo. My aim is to go tall after building an army of lil doods.

They were being contrarian and thus willingly blind themselves to Ashling's potential.

I generally like it when the goofy battlecruiser format doesn't become a 300-card-format where people just jam the retardedly overpowered cards in their colors and call it a day.
This sums up how I feel about EDH lately, and I'm glad I got a pod together with buddies instead of needing to go to the LGS for games.

The LGS implemented some goofy ass battle of the brackets tournament league and its stupid watching a "T3" table of dudes dump their hands on turn 3, then durdle until 6 so they can close out the game "in bracket". The LGS people are exasperated with it and begging people to just play normal, but dude you made it pay to play and put prizes at the end. If you don't want a format to be competitive, do something like 10 bucks to enter, get a booster pack and a drink, and give participants shit like promos, bulk rares, singles credit on a per-game basis, or whatever.

It's "my deck's a 7" all over again. If I were younger I'd make a spite "legally a 3" Gitrog Monster with shuffle titans and touch myself for an hour a game before closing it out with Torment, Exsanguinate, Syr Konrad or Polluted Cistern; but my time's valuable and I'd rather just not play with people too autistic to play the social format socially.

I mean the busted things came from things other than Ashling, like Greenwarden + Myraid and "Panharmonicon and Risen Reef"
That's rather like saying, "Black Lotus isn't really busted but the things you do with 3 mana..."

Or "Ancestral Recall isn't busted, it's the cards you draw with it..."

"The busted things come from the dragons and demons and angels you put on the battlefield with Khalia..."

Hell even panharmonicon isn't "busted" per your statement just now - it's the other cards you play. At some point you need to sober up, you've drunk yourself retarded.

(It was funny that one of the other players trying her out had completely failed to notice the "gives copy haste" text on Ashling and was just having fun abusing the double triggers. When he saw me start swinging and tapping with the copies, his mind got blown. lol)
