By the way allegedly some uncommons got leaked and Thor got double Prowess.
One thing to note:

The collector's numbers on the bottom of the leaks are four digits long, as opposed to the usual three. This would imply that, counting all of the variant/collector printings, this set is over one thousand cards.

Workers on the MTG Arena team want to unionize.

Considering game unions haven't worked out in the past because they either make the game worse, or the company just cuts the studios that unionize instead, expect this to be no different.

Im not even bothering with the marvel set. The next set Im heavily invested in will be the hobbit or reality fracture. Will probably buy like 4 boxes of the hobbit set. Hopefully we get a good smaug card. There and back again is a shit card.

Why so they can do less fucking work?

We barely get animations, we still don't have spectator mode..

Aside from sucking Tranny cock what the fuck is the Arena team actually doing?

blackface jace frees emrakul, and we get another dogshit MH set.
You mean another Dogshit Innistrad set, but I doubt that because I am not quite sure what Jace The Gravesculptor would look like since they would have to have one of his modes be a black spell..and I dunno if we are printing reanimate into standard.

They put a 3 mana reanimate with suspend 1 (at best) that you have to pay B to unsuspend for anyways in standard.

I think it is much more likely that we get -1 Bolt off a 3 or 4 Mana Jace the Lightning Sculptor than a Black Jace with Reanimate as an ability..

Remember these are mirrors, whatever Jace we get has to have a famous spell attached to have an Iconic spell attached, I think Lightning Bolt as his removal is most likely.

I am curious about retention rates and repeat purchase metrics for UB product consumers. My heart tells me that there's no repeat customers unless they rerun the IP but I don't have the data to prove it. Though it would explain why they're desperately shutting out every IP under the sun.

Why track that when all of the metrics are just sales to distributors?

I think every fair minded person is.

Like if Universes Beyond actually brings in more people who remain long term then sure keep doing them, I just don't actually believe it though.

If they wanted any chance of any of their demands being fulfilled they should have shilled hard for that retard's attempt to buy the MtG half of WotC a few years ago. At least that guy was saying the nice things but now these goofs are betting that they have enough leverage as nameless goons + Mark Rosewater to get the severely retarded execs at Hazbro to let them make basically the only profitable part of their corperation less profitable for the vibes.

I agree, but speaking anecdotally a lot of the biggest whales I know started with UB. They might not get all the consoomers to stay, but the ones they do seem to be pretty careless with their cash.

WotC is somewhat less than thrilled about this unionization attempt, as they have hired Fisher & Phillips LLP, a law firm known for its work in labor relations and, specifically, for helping companies remain union-free workplaces.

This is the same firm that's hired the Pinkertons before, what did anyone expect? Luxury beliefs always get dropped the moment they become inconvenient.

Personally I disagree that any large amount of UB whales will stay, at least outside of investors, and this is why:
UB is, currently, picking off very popular series with a lot of overlap. Most 20-30yos who like Marvel will also like AtLA and TMNT to varying degrees. This means the current product line is accessible and safe. If they crack a pack of AtLA or Spiderman they immediately see memes like “It’ll Quench Ya!” or Spidey pointing. No questioning who Karn is or why should they care that Heliod is in the Underworld, just mass cardboard consumption.

On top of that, any savvy investor knows that UB is the “New Reserved List”, that is cards that may never get printed in this style again. Particularly as WotC has A) created very parasitic cards (the design space for theoretical planes that can support a “human spider hero” and the various characters is very slim) and B) stocked the sets full of desirable cards that will only be in higher demand over time (The One Ring, the Infinity Stones, etc). We’re essentially seeing a new bull market of “diamond hand” investors who, at least in theory, want to play the long game.

This means that, over time, secondary market box prices will increase, which makes box investors happy, and thus WotC profits will increase via demand, even as the game itself suffers. They’re not financially motivated by game quality or accessibility; they sell either direct-to-consumer (SLD) or direct-to-distributors (everything else), with maybe a few scarce WPN supplies once in a while.

The issue is that they will run out of UB sets faster than they expect, and it’ll only take one bad quarter to cause Hasbro a lot of headaches. These whales aren’t loyal; once the shiny cardboard with their beloved slop plastered on isn’t what they want they’ll move elsewhere.

It seems okay. Like, not particularly thrilling, but alright. In theory I like what it does: 45 card deck out of essentially a small set worth of cards that creates a unique experience for each box, bridging the gap between MtG’s original starter decks and Keyforge insofar as limited product range meets a standardized set. However it’s too pared down for me, and the fact that it’s all “emotional” while using MtG assets seems disjointed, especially from the dice theme which is underutilized. Like, what is even the point of using die as icons if, as far as the instructional video showed, Red has no randomization mechanic?

And the emotion theme, in general, is very telling of his own mentality and the “toxic positivity” he’s becoming increasingly known for. The first player (and thus the one who has the advantage) is the one who “felt” the emotion shown on the card last? You can’t define that. And in multiplayer games the player in last place for the round gets the “Hurt Feelings” card; a decent rubber-banding mechanic with a very weak name. And to expand on my earlier critique, the entire theme is so shallow. The art combined with the card names aren’t compelling, and I doubt I would feel I am using “rage” to win if I played the “rage” card. The theme could have, and should have, been something with a little more “bite” to it. I’m not sure what, but I also didn’t have 30 years to design the thing.
