HAHAHAHA

They shrunk Liliana's tits and covered them up. This is what they threw Gideon Under the bus for.

Really, as someone who tried following the magic story until Ixlan when I gave up, I was getting frustrated that the writers couldn't be bothered to show one normal relationship.

Given that Gideon was created SPECIFICALLY for the Chandra novel "Purifying Fire" (hence why I suspect he died - no more royalties to creator?) I thought the two of them were a good ship. Chandra could push Gids to take action. Gideon could help Chandra find control.

But no, let's make Chandra more and more of a Mary Sue and turn her gay (not even try a threesome between the boros ship and the Elf). Gideon and Liliana might have been an interesting pair, especially if she thought his white magic would be of help to kill the demons - then you could have some potential storylines there with a bit of tragedy after this.

But Gideon just killing himself to save the necro bitch? When they barely interacted? (Was there more in Dominaria?) They write stories as well as they balance cards.

And yes, I know about Jace & Vraska. Jace keeps going through so many mind wipes I consider every few incarnations of him to basically be a new character. His mind powers also make any romance gain a creepy undertone since there would always be an underlying suspicion of whether the feelings were genuine, or if he was forcing them.

Don't even get me started on just the construction of the stories in general.

It gets Worse because Jace and Vraska broke up after War of the Spark because Vraska accused him of still wanting to bang the Lili (who would want to bang Flatchested Lili over Gorgon Babe)

It's a shame, because the connection between Jace and Vraska actually was one of the few nice things about the Ixalan storyline. I also considered the Gideon/Liliana relationship they tried forming in Dominaria as something that could have had potential, but they had to kill it since White menPlaneswalkers Can't Have Nice Things.

Also, anyone else remember when WOTC had to edit out Chandra asking Nissa in the Kaladesh weekly stories?

So they did try and make something between Gideon and Liliana at the 11th hour? That was NOT the time to do it. Amonket was the time to do that.

What? I followed through kaladesh (I won't sperg out. I won't sperg out. I won't sperg out...) and remember all the Chandra/Nissa in there. Was it a recent change after the Greg Weisman retcon?

Oh yeah, they tried to do something there. It was tenuous at first, but by the end there was a faint bond. If they hadn't planned on killing Gideon off in the very next block it might have led to something, but who cares about details?

It happened within the week, if not the same day. Chandra was pretty blatant about it in the original, but she got a lot more coy about it later. Then again, they don't seem to know whether they want Chandra to scissor Nissa or Liliana.

The Jace plot in Ixalan was legitimately the single best plot WOTC since they stopped doing books, Him on a boat with no memory with a character who has every intent to use him for her own ends (Vraska's first Lore appearance is her planning to assassinate Jace) and the two find out that there is real chemistry there and that Jace ((THE GUILDPACT)) isn't the most evil thing that has ever happened and that Vraska getting put in jail isn't his fault was wonderful.

Then he got all of his memories back and mixed his personalities together well enough that he actually was a good character and not the stupid emo faggot he was Pre-Ixalan, him telling Liliana "BEGONE THOT" in Dominaria was amazing.

So they did try and make something between Gideon and Liliana at the 11th hour?
Basically they started too in order to give a remote reason for Gideon to sac himself for her. There was some amount of Chemistry there..but it was rushed and very last minute..like all of the plots after the block re-redo, Maro fucked the lore hard by fucking with the block structure)

What happened was the Tumblerites/Twitterites saw a line that could possibly MAYBE have hinted at Chandra and Nissa flirting and went "ZOOOOOOMGGGGGGGGGG SHIIIIPIIIIINGGGGGGG LGBQTBBQQQQQQQQQQQQQQALPHABETSOUOOOPPPPP" and WOTC was like "No" and then backpelded and did ChandraXNissa anyways after a backlash because Maro is a braindead cuck.

but they had to kill it since White menPlaneswalkers Can't Have Nice Things.
It wasn't even that, Putting Liliana in the Gatewatch in the first place was a gigantic mistake because previous to that she was an outright Villain and they had to figure out how to deal with the previously planned storyline of "Liliana is betraying the 4 demons and it is going to backfire on her because it means she will be under the thumb of Bolas"

Gideon was just the fall guy because He was the only Mono-colored Gatewatch member who had a backup to take his place (Ajani)

TDLR : Maro doesn't know what the fuck he is doing.

Oh he had every thing aiming for his death. Being a cis straight (white?) male of jock disposition made him a dead man walking. Jace is only saved by virtue of being too popular to kill, leaving Dack Fayden the only other CSWM to die also.

Ajani might possibly be another viable target for plot murder, but the power of cats on the internet protect him.

I'm tempted to give Ixlan stories a try but so much in that whole block triggers red flags for me it's hard.

Everything about stories in the last few blocks is dumb. Liliana kept as villain could still work. You'd have the batman/catwoman dynamic with Jace and him finally realizing how toxic she is and picking Vraska in the end because once you go black (mana) you never go back.

Bolas actual plan has some merit and is nearly worth the pay off. Amonket is now junked though because once the eternals are revealed as an army, they're not really different from regular zombies. Bolas would have been better off just eternalizing the ENTIRE population of Amonket for all the difference the trials made.

Switching the eternal sun on and off was dumb af in the war.

Actually for being all about war and conflict, the stories are awful at portraying actual war. They read more like news reports or wiki articles (this happened - then this happened) rather than a back and forth exchange with each side struggling to gain an advantage over the other. They nearly tried with Kaladesh. And failed. Things either work - or they don't.

Is MaRo influencing story over there too? Because half the time it seems like those are having trouble thinking two steps ahead - just like the broken ass cards MaRo likes to design.

Oh hey. I see in core 2021, they're just literally replacing Gids with a copycat.

I forget the exact line but the combo was Hogaak + Ashnod's altar Altar of Dementia + Bridge from Below to mill both players out.

Fixed that for ya!

What if she has a cloacae?
