If their 'egypt' set is any indication, another african-themed set would wind up just being WAKANDA because the diversity crew has studied exactly zero african civilizations and cultures.I still find it amusing that despite their intense desire for "diversity" and "inclusivity", current Wizards would never create a place as cool and earnest as Jamuraa was in the Mirage block. These days it's just gimmicks all the way down.
It really does make me pine for the early 2000s, where people included diverse and interesting settings in fantasy because they wanted to and because it was interesting, rather than just slathering another boring, uninteresting setpiece in a different coat of paint. Thematically I think ever plane after Khans has been pretty uninteresting if not downright boring, and Khans was only really interesting for the first set of the block anyways. I guess Kaladesh at least had pretty art.
