The Israeli Embassy in D.C., in 2016.

A man is in critical condition after setting himself on fire midday Sunday outside the Israeli Embassy in D.C., authorities said.

No one else was injured in the incident, which took place just before 1 p.m. in the 3500 block of International Drive NW. A video shared online, which multiple officials said appeared to be posted by the man, shows him shouting “Free Palestine” as he burned.

The man said he was an active-duty member of the U.S. Air Force. A spokeswoman for the Air Force, Ann Stefanek, said they had not yet identified the man or verified whether he is in the service.

Since the Israel-Gaza war began just over four months ago, at least 29,629 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Israel estimates that about 1,200 people were killed in Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack and says 240 soldiers have been killed since the start of its military operation in Gaza.

Hamas and allied fighters took more than 253 people hostage during the attack. More than 100 were freed in exchange for more than 200 Palestinian detainees during a November pause in fighting. Israeli authorities believe that more than 100 hostages remain in Gaza.

On Sunday, uniformed Secret Service officers responded to a report of a person experiencing a possible medical or mental health emergency, said Joe Routh, a U.S. Secret Service spokesman.

Responding officers put out the fire before D.C. firefighters arrived, around 1 p.m., fire department spokesman Vito Maggiolo said. The D.C. Fire and Emergency Services department then took the man to a hospital in life-threatening condition. He remained hospitalized Sunday afternoon.

In the video, which is just over three minutes long, one person can be heard saying, “Hi, sir, can I help you?” as the man approaches the gate to the embassy.

About 12 seconds later, as a person again asks, “Can I help you, sir,” the man lights the fire.

The man burned for about a minute and collapsed on the ground, the video showed, before law enforcement began to extinguish the fire.

he's active duty, they would have paid no matter what. Hell, I've been out for ten years and I still tell hospital staff to bill the VA. I haven't paid a dime for medical care in years
Unless things have changed, acts like the immolation would not be considered to be in the line of duty. Doesn't happen often but does happen on occasion. I sure wouldn't call a self-serving suicide to be in the line of duty.

its also really disconcerning to hear that this guy was in devops for the fucking military and a officer no less - and yet was completely radicalized to the point where he burned himself to death in protest for a bunch of terrorists. if you think these people will refuse orders to round up half the country in camps or do something unconstitutional, think again
He was a senior airman, E-4, not even a noncommissioned officer. In business terms, he was an individual contributor, not any sort of manager or leader.

Yeesh, you can basically hear his lungs fucking liquifying and his vocal cords cooking when he's still trying to chant and nothing comes out as his skin falls off. Fuckin' A, I wouldn't wish that kind of a death on my worst enemy, and all for some goatfuckers across the sea who would probably cut his throat just as soon as look at him.

Yes, you can be fired from the military. Yes, the AF tends to live better than the other services, but the AF still has people who bust their ass on the flight line, or who are combat controllers, fly combat missions, etc. I'd say they have earned the title of veteran.

By the way, when did you serve?
You can get discharged but it's not that easy unless you pop on a piss test. Most infractions are remedied with an NJP. for all intents and purposes, you really can't get fired in the military. You signed a contract and you're going to fulfill it. As for Airmen, I only consider PJ's to be real servicemen, the rest are government employees. I was a platoon corpsman for first battalion first marines, served from 09-14 and deployed to Afghanistan in 2012

Hottest Tranny of the Year you mean.

Just bumping this up if it hasn't been brought up already.

This "man" is allegedly a troon who possibly suffered from HRT effects and also an anarchist with ties to two anarchy political groups to boot under the alias LillyAnarKitty. The irony of a troon burning himself for Palestine as if they wouldn't already burn him alive for free is beautiful.

someone found the self immolators reddit account:

After seeing his twitch account name I got curious as to who this guy followed.

Here are his chat logs from a twitch logs tool. He chatted in sophie_frm_mars, KiraChats (badbunny), and DJmuel on twitch albeit very little.

About a year ago he changed his name from 'acebush1' to 'LillyAnarKitty'.

Here is his reddit account: https://www.reddit.com/user/acebush1

Frequently posts on anarchism, acab, and various leftist subreddits. He was even a supporter of other anarchy podcasts. He posted his video and plans in their patreon subscriber discord (I'm not subscribing to that shit), and to other anarchist news outlets.

Frankly, these people are disgusting. They will speak out of both sides of their mouth; calling him brave for commiting suicide and how effective form a protest it can be, then saying to their audience that you obviously shouldn't do this. At the end of the day, none of these people lit the gasoline underneath him but their rhetoric and misinformation encouraged it. His suicide will not help the Palestinians while he leaves behind his family and loved ones to suffer. They will post online about how brave it was but they could never sit in front of his family and tell them to their faces that his death was righteous.

tells terfs to fuck off a lot, linux user (ofc), and he celebrated the deaths of the 3 soldiers in Jordan

I certainly do. The cops are the domestic military and the military is the international police. They are bad for the exact same reasons: their job is to enforce the will of the ruling class with violence.

What a waste. Should have tried setting the kike embassy on fire.
and then jews wouldve spun it to "look another plaestine terrorist"
this kind of insane zealotry is hard to hide and aaron clearly wasn't filtered out of the military for it and even became an officer + worked on devops

the more you think about it the more terrifying the implications are
you are terrified of a person who sacrificed himself WITHOUT harming anothet soul?? you are a well-trained retard
How sad, he had massive balls but chose to waste them being an hero in one of the most painful ways possible.
Even if you think his cause is just, there are much better ways to sacrifice yourself for Palestine.
can say the same about crucifixion
I can't get over how nothing was accomplished, everything the day after was the same as the day before. No minds were swayed, nothing. Of all the things he could've done to remedy the situation, at least for him, he chose none and he set himself ablaze instead. He will get his 15 minutes of fame and that will be it.
ill bench an extra set remembering him

You can be 'chaptered out' for bad behavior. You can be subject to a RIF - Reduction in force. You can be separated for too many years in enlisted grade without a promotion. You can be separated as an officer if passed over twice for the next rank if you don't have enough time in service to retire, or are not in the 'safe zone'. You can be dismissed from the service (officers only) or be kicked out due to Uniform Code of Military Justice actions. Retired USAF signals intelligence here, enlisted and later officer, mid 70's to late 90's. Two tours in Korea, was there for the 'tree incident', later commanded troops in Korea.

If you serve/have served, you are a service member/veteran. Respect everyone's service; we're all on the same team.

This dude absolutely had no business being in the military.
