They didn't exactly release him. His case is still pending and Chris is free for the time being. Heilberg is probably trying to plea bargain his sentence into having him sent to a group home for retards like him. There's no way they will throw that lunatic into a normal prison.
Chris is also an unreliable narrator who lives in a fantasy world. Him buying the book on elder sex absolutely suggests that he was planning on having sex with Barb but it doesn't prove beyond reasonable doubt that it occurred, which is the threshold the prosecution has to meet if Chris doesn't take a plea.
They haven't charged him with rape and probably aren't since it's been nearly two fuckin years. Chris is charged with incest, nothing else.

According to Chris himself in the Incest Call, they were having sex every three days for a while before his arrest.
This has never been claimed by Chris or anyone else familiar with the subject. I'd check the CWCki before making such damning claims.

Yeah, but as I said, we do not really know for sure. There is also a time frame where DNA evidence can be collected (72 hours apparently). Doing a rape kit is a lengthy process as well

Yeah, I should clarify what I meant by “medication and treatment are working” because, for some reason, people seem to think that’s the same as saying he magically became a well adjusted, productive citizen.
And even retards are often convicted when they confess even if they were obviously manipulated and little to no corroborating evidence is available, e.g., the West Memphis Three.
And so are plenty of other tards who get convicted of serious crimes based on little more than a confession.
