50k for a demo isn't bad numbers TBH. Yea it's not 200k but it's still a very playable size.
Until you remember they have to sell millions of copies for it to be considered a success 💀
Oh yeah I'm fucking sure Bungie biggest demographic is Iranians and Trump just blew their fucking demographic away. Literally!
:story:
I think they meant that all the redditors that consist majority of the playerbase had to step away to criticize America's imperialism and unjustified violence against Iran on bluesky, causing player numbers to dip in the same way Iranian high leadership did
I wound up uninstalling this shit heap earlier, couldn't force myself to play any more of this shell of a game they slapped a $40 price tag on. I keep hearing soy youtubers sing bungie's praises, last I checked they haven't shipped a good game since Halo Reach. They are a studio that releases unfinished games at full price so they can sell you expansion packs for the next 10 years.

I hope after this fails they will stop trying to make these gay extraction shooter games.
All the positive arguments from shills can be summed up as either "Bungie gunplay" (pfft) or "It's got colors".
It's a beta. People won't want to play before the full game is out in 3 days. They may think they will lose their progress between the two.
Believe it or not, people said the exact same thing about Concord. We all know how that went.
While Marathon got bigger numbers, I expect the trend to continue in the same way.

It's generally good practice to assume that a game that sells 50k on steam sold the same amount on consoles it's available on, mainly because it's impossible to tell sales unless they outright state it.

So if it sells well on steam it's probably going to sell well on console. Hell BurntPeanuts retarded fans might buy it cus he wants them to

It's a given, and I would even expect bungieslop to sell better on consoles, because that's where majority of their retarded fans are. But even then it's likely to fall short of their expectations by a significant margin.

I'm betting 50k max on steam

10k minimum
This is likely the most realistic answer, as much as I'm ragging on this, streamers do a good job of promoting shit like this for at least the initial month, all of them are at least above lukewarm for this, for some fucking reason.

Guess its best not to bite the Sony hand.

That and you have to remember that most of the streamers are all pvp junkies.

Shroud, Peanut, Nickmercs and others talking it up are people who thrive off shitting on terrible people in shooters

and this is a game where their fan dick riders will keep them topped up on all the best loot and it has a significant, almost double the TTK speed and halfs the TTK speed on yourself loot pool game.

this game was designed to showboat on poorly geared tards in the biggest way.

Im gonna say 60-80k on steam with a noticeable falloff within weeks, the population will tank at the first reset. I don't think a good chunk of the playerbase knows their gear will be wiped after a few months.
A good chunk of the player base have probably played these games before and know that wipes are pretty standard

And Bungie did mention that the game does gear/faction wipes every like 2 to 3 months

This is one of the few extraction games where a flee market would make sense ironically.

Depends on how they monetize it. If they sell shitty unicorn fag skins I can see them making more off the shop than the game it's self.
Sony is going to want the revenue stream to be immense, this is their ONLY product, D2 has sunk entirely, they paid 3.7 billion dollars for fucking Bungie alone, and have Marathon and only Marathon to show for it, Bungie was supposed to help them get their Live Service games to be successful in their other companies, all of them to date, have failed spectacularly.

The game has a battle pass we know that, but other than that it'll probably have paid cosmetics like Destiny does.

Maybe if they're greedy (they are) they'll make new shells pay to play

Dinklage is so flat in Destiny because Bungie was screwing him and making him record more lines than they were paying him for. At the same time Marty was being dicked around for standing up to Activision, so he told Dinklage to give them the performance equal to what they were paying him.
honestly it worked for the entire shit about ghosts.
but then they put up nolan north who sounds even more fucking annoying than dinklage, at least there is some catharsis knowing that all of the small stature actors hate the little shit because he kicked the ladder once he got at the top.

If Bungie wanted to be greedy, and I fully expect them to do this, they'd charge for new maps. And have "raid" level keys, like destiny's dungeon keys.

I wonder if they'll plan yearly expansions for marathon

they won't charge for new maps, they will charge for expansions that have new maps and shells, its the same but different.
This is what they did with D2, want to play the new subclasses? buy this 40 dollar expac.

Marathon: Doom/Wolfenstein cline nobody played/hear/cares about.
OG Marathon did innovate in giving Mac users an(other) excuse to be obnoxious twats to their PC and Amiga friends, "see? My Mac can play games in color too!" As far as Doom clones go it was pretty good though, tbh. What put Bungie on the map with it was the fact they made it a Mac exclusive.

Sub 10k within the first week.
I think it's going to maintain fairly stable numbers close to launch level for some time, mainly because of sunk cost fallacy.
People spending money on this turd would want to justify it to themselves, and thus will continue to play for a couple weeks at least consistently.
