1,4k hours hunt, 1,8k hours tarkov, 500 hours arc.

Marathon is good, grabs elements from all of those and supports playstyles found in each - in short shits good and that's coming from an extraction vet not some fake gamer trash looking for youtube clicks, sure the visuals are love it or hate it but there's no troon worship or whatever degenerate garbage going, if anything everyone is treated as disposable biowaste in-universe.

Ya'll can keep shrieking, but it's just nonsense, and unlike either of the other extractions it has actual lore that meshes in with the world nicely - something sorely lacking in all the others (don't get me started on arcs ai generated lore entries full of logical inconsistencies and broken words, fuck embark anyway those assholes clearly have no idea what arc should even be and it's a complete accident not design that gave them success).

Loads of these losers making vids about marathon are exposing themselves as being no different from leftist trash that has no valid points and just enjoys shrieking, and it's quite pathetic but oh well.
Would you recommend this for someone who hasn't really played Extraction Shooters or not? I've been curious about either this or Arc and I guess I'm in the minority that thinks the art style looks pretty cool.

I would recommend this to people who are serious about getting into extraction shooters, If you want a PvP focused extraction shooter this is the best one for new players imo.

Tarkov has a lot of fiddly shit that's just annoying and doesn't really contribute to a fun experience. Bullets can ricochet or fragment, some aren't capable of penetration while some over penetrate. Some bullets are great for destroying flesh and some are bad at everything. Some guns can even chamber the wrong ammunition, guns that can chamber the correct ammo are prone to jams.

The way the Healing system works, if you an actual gun fight and not an ambush you'll be taken out of the fight for a minute or two as you lay in a bush and preform a multitude of operations to get back to full health.

The way the hit boxes in tarkov work and with the amount of player power the gear provides the game ends up feeling more like an aim assist trainer than a milsim. Players in the best defensive gear and the most lethal guns shrug rounds from lesser players while dishing out lead laser beams at their attackers.

Marathon cuts out a lot of that nonsense. All the guns shoot bullets and bullets kill people, regardless of the gear they brought in. Healing is left down to two items and one button. The game leans entirely on the fundamentals of the extraction shooter genre. Positioning, awareness, map knowledge, patience, and of course aim are all instantly rewarded in Marathon more so than any other extraction shooter I've played.

"just be in the right spot and dont make noise" sounds easy enough, but it can be hard to do in practice. It's hard to learn where you want to be, it comes with time. Playing with random retards will definitely make things even harder.

If youre serious enough it will be a good experience, but if youre just showing up for a laugh thinking it's anything like Halo's Team Death match, youre in for a bad time.

Also in tarkov if you are on a bad luck streak you can basically get soft locked out of the game entirely. Marathon has multiple things in place to stop that. So you can suck ass all day and night while you learn.

it depends entirely on if you like pvp or not, Arc will punish you for PVP. Marathon's pvp is fun but the game is not built for solo play at all

Marathon was a Boomer shooter and I recently got the classics DRM free off a GoG competitor called Zoom-platform, If Marathon embraced its history and advertised like this instead of Globohomo they would be profitable and cut their marketing budget by like 50mil

Tried it with a few buddies yesterday. It’s the definition mid. There’s nothing blatantly offensive in the gameplay. But if I was playing with Randos I wouldn’t like it. It’s just fine

They are all free and open source, they are on steam too or you can get them from Aleph One

NuBungie fans never cease to amaze me. The game is an extremely low tier extraction slop game and they still play it at least for a couple of weeks. I wish I could learn how to coral niggercattle like this. I still stand this will be a spiritually dead game before 2027 but I think it will recoup just enough of the 4 billion to see the skinwalkers calling themselves Bungie live on for another slop game before Sony kills them for the tax write off.

Does anybody think the recent profusion of media from massive corporations ostensibly mocking massive corporations for being evil and soulless while doing little to oppose them is just an attempt to train the general populace to be okay with it?

I think it's more the corpos trying to cash in on anti-corpo sentiment. It's really not that deep most of the time

Apparerntly alot of the codex entries in the game are audio logs.

This is the part that I don't really get. Dark and Darker tried to do the same, then the devs eventually gave in and implemented solo matchmaking when the game is and was balanced for 3s. The demand was clearly there, but the end result just ended up making nobody happy. Effectively needing a premade can't be good for the game's playerbase in the long run.
