Why would I ever want to work out in the same place I work? And cereal in the work place kitchen? These people are literaly children.
Most major companies offer a gym as a perk for employees. The idea is to build company loyalty, but more realistically it’s a sly incentive to get people to come into the office earlier or stay later. If you go to work out at 5 am in the gym, you’re more likely to start working immediately after.

I feel like we got a lot of good story in Final Shape, especially for Zavala. Knowing that he was A. Straight and B. Had a kid? Awesome, good to know my blue nigga was producing. But now he’s just back to his old ways, a glorified “vendor” icon in the tower.

Sad.
It was a retread of Haunted's storyline. Coming back to have to go over the same shit with Zavala again was beyond retarded. He was able to move on from Safiyah but for some reason here's the plotline again. Even funnier considering that Caitl was there during it as she was dealing with Ghaul.

The biggest issue is just the inappropriate bloated budget for something so niche from its gameplay to its visual design. When you commit to such a polarizing look and a gamemode that is controversial to the average consumer, you gotta bank on a smaller but dedicated player base - the sheer amount of money dropped on the development of Marathon is insane and I struggle to see where it went. A quarter BILLION to make is nuts.

The size of the maps is the funniest part.

From what I've read, originally it was meant to be like this. You customize your character however you like without hero shooter bullshit, but they changed directors to a riot dev who worked on valorant and with him we got the predefined characters with abilities.
I don't know if this has been posted before, searching it here didn't brought up anything so I'll post it a again [L] / [A].
Apparently Chriss Barret, the previous director got fired because he was accused by the female employees at Bungie of "inappropriate behaviour" and got replaced by Joe Ziegler, the riot games dev.

Yep, he’s counter suing them. Chris was one of bungies older devs. Bungie used to have a more edgy/dude bro work environment and so of course, Chris was Metoo’d. I believe it was still an extraction shooter though so even if Chris stayed on, I don’t know how much better the game would be.

They are pretty normal sized for an extraction shooter.

Whats strange is only having 3 on launch with a promise of a 4th. With the budget they spent I would expect around 20+ maps, dozens more guns, hundreds of more items, and thousands of tasks.

I'm wondering how far out they actually developed this game, do they really only have the next season of content cooked and ready? Might be the case.

Working for Riot should be an industry scarlet letter. Their games are technical disasters and everyone else there is either a weirdo creep probable sex pest or has some kind of weird sociopathic baggage that would have landed them in the loony bin if not for current yearism. In other words, they're a hot commodity in the AAA space!

Watching people on Steam defend Bungie’s use of kernel level anti-cheat and Windows might be the most retarded shit I’ve seen this week

From marathon's review page. BE is legit the lowest form of anti cheat you can get. I hope they have some proper stat bans or this will fly off the rails quick.

From what I got from an article in 2023, essentially it would've been a lot more hardcore extraction shooter with an oxygen system and separate health pools, like tarkov's hunger and thirst [L] / [A].

You still had stats and abilities to some extent, but they were universal and could've been done by anyone, you customise your character based on your playstyle. For some reason, the article considered the oxygen system controversial, even though it kinda makes sense since you are on a foreign planet, which implies that the player charaters were human at first, not the "shell" bullshit we have now.

where did half the playerbase go? I was told by Reddit and YouTube this game was a smash hit and everyone was having a blast.

Defending it on Reddit.

Marathon is doomed for really just one MAJOR reason.
Its biggest fans are people who cannot jive, enjoy or perform in a high end PVP enviroment, Leftoid redditors will not enjoy what this game really is, which is extraction team death match, which can work if it wasn't, like I said, specifically catered and targeting that demographic.

They will grow tired of getting stomped by the elite teams and want a PVE mode like the ARC redditors want, which this game simply cannot have, it wouldn't even be close to a "game" at that point.

The player count around the same time yesterday was 58k. So that's an 18k drop. Today is a workday, which is why I pointed out that yes, today will be indicative of the longevity of the game, but at the same time, you have to pay attention to the actual peak times. Which, for yesterday at least, happened around 2 pm in my timezone (21:00 UTC for steamdb)

Here's the peak start for yesterday

I’d love to watch battleye get compromised and every system that has it installed get ransomwared.
Nothing that radical will happen, however there were exploits to ban random people on other BE games which are now patched. I just hope they have decent server side checks so people cant just no-clip around like it's Dead by Daylight.
