currently Iron Banner is having drop rate issues, transmog issues, the rewards currently suck, and Bungie’s response was “tough shit, wait till June.”
IB is like the easiest shit to get right. Just copypaste one of the 500 previous ones. It's just one gamemode with its own, slightly altered reward pool. It should be cruise control at this point but every little thing is a Titanic for them.

It's over. It was already over but now it's even overer.

ETA: It's baffling that they didn't even consider this as a possibility when, again, they have Destiny to look at as an example. In PVP modes where you can revive a teammate, the last thing you want to do is rez them if you're still being targeted. Can't tell you how many times I've seen someone get rezzed before immediately getting domed by a sniper because they can't move right away, or even just coordinated fire knocking them out a second time. This system is even worse because the enemy is literally right on top of them reviving them, and I'm assuming that reviving works in a similar fashion where there's a delay before you can control your character again. So you get brought back and have just long enough to see the face of your killer before they blow your brains out a second time. Wonderful.
In D2 Nightstalker Hunters were often the "medic" role, since they could use invis or smoke to reach the downed teammate, and revived characters got a temporary overshield (that later on, at least, had 50% damage reduction).

been awhile since I’ve been in the thread. The game is so boring and dead that watching its demise isn’t even fun anymore. I checked this morning (7am for me on MST, so 10am EST) and it’s at 13k with a peak of 24k. Oof. Sony’s earnings call is in May, the eighth specifically, big oof. Add onto all the other bad shit happening surrounding Bungie, ANOTHER D2 fuck up has hit the building, currently Iron Banner is having drop rate issues, transmog issues, the rewards currently suck, and Bungie’s response was “tough shit, wait till June.”

I think it’s over, I think we’re gonna see a lot of people leave or be fired and Sony will either full absorb, shut down, or completely overhaul Bungie into whatever they see fit.

I’ll always appreciate a contrarian ❤️, I’ve stepped into that role at times on this site myself. I’m afraid in this case the #’s portend this shit shutting the fuck down sooner rather than later thoughever
In my opinion, my only real contrarian take is that I actually appreciate the visuals, music, lore, and overall gameplay. Yeah, It's likely the game gets shut down, but I think it’s more likely something else happens to it entirely. Sony dropped $4 billion acquiring this, so I doubt they pull the plug anytime soon. This thing probably has at least a year left in it regardless of player count, though I could be wrong. If there is a Season 3, that’s probably where things are going to get weird. I would think they are going to seriously start pivoting away from the hardcore extraction shooter concept in an attempt to right the ship. At the end of the day, though, it doesn’t feel like this game is going to last in its current form one way or another.

Reminds me of when guntguarders are mad a subreddit allows any criticism of the product so they have to create a “low-sodium” splinter (wherein rather than complaining about the product they will complain infinitely more about anyone complaining about the product).
There are plenty of people posting here whose whole daily routine is doom posting about a game they’ve never even played. Saying anything remotely positive about the game drives these people up the fucking wall. There are two threads on the farms for shitting on Marathon. We've got a reverse Gunt guarder situation on our hands here.

Using revive kits to kill some one multiple times is nothing new, it's been in the game since launch. People are just latching onto any new reason to hate the game.

Why would they even allow you to revive enemies anyway? The trolling potential is obvious. Even if they remove the XP gain players will still do it. It's crazy how a company that primarily makes online multiplayer games would add something like this.
So when you form an alliance with people mid raid you can rez them if they go into a downed state. Plenty of times I've joined up with other solos and one of us goes down, nothing we can do except hope the other team had a self revive on them.

Well looks like the weekend highs are in its 24k.
Nothin to write home about. I don't think we'll see it go much lower for some time it'll prolly stick in the 20-25k range for a bit before slowly bleeding out if Bungie doesn't kill it. Which I don't think they will.
The matter of fact though at this point is - it isn't growing its dying.
It definitely isn't making back in sales what it cost to make. We'll see how Sony feels about that I guess.

What happened there? The other coast just never logged on it seems.
That second bump is the late USA bump. It peaks as the us timezones pass through Midnight, if I understand my timezones correctly.

Because it’s super late, it tends to reflect the day after rather than the day it technically starts during. So it tends to be a bit of a drop off on Sunday night to begin with - as much as we joke about marathon players being no-lifers, some of them at least have to fake being a functioning human bean.

It might look worse right now because this is the end of the first weekend with that free kit not-a-battle-Royale thing. So the weekend got a bit of a bump, but most people who’d be yet to try have now tried it, and thus the bumps gonna fade away at this point.

TL:DR not many people jumped on at that point, because it’sonday tomorrow and they got shit to do.

It was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek jab about how the west coast just said 'fuck it' and phoned it in, and to highlight that the second bump is always the larger of the two, as at no point during the week~ window does it occur in this manner. But yeah, Sunday numbers being low makes sense for normal humans I agree. All those Destiny dads-of-nine gotta go grind their boss-aggro so they can rush home to have a bottled-lightning-blast.

Yeah, It's likely the game gets shut down

You're "doom posting" more than most tbh. I would be surprised if it actually shuts down. You can't really accuse others of "doom posting" while saying that the game is likely doomed.

With 11 days left in the month, I'd say it's a safe bet the average 24-hour peaks will be 20k or less by May. I think it'll stabilize at 10k til it eventually gets put into LTS mode.

That's been happening for years sadly. A few years ago they added cosmetics from previous seasons into the rng loot pool but the drop rates are so abysmal that you wouldn't know unless you played at an autistic level (me who hit Legend rank twice for IB every season for like 4 years).

There is a difference between acknowledging the 250 million dollar elephant in the room and consistently/constantly focusing on negative out comes. There is an excess of negativity about the game here and it's not coming from me.

I would pay anything to be an insider at Sony/Bungie right now. Marathon took a month what destiny took 10 years to reach.

Estimates make it look even worse, 70%~ of Marathon playerbase being on PC while it is the inverse for D2 with popularity.report putting it at 23%~

So effectively, you can roughly assume that D2 has (generously giving it 25% on Steam) roughly 26,000~
Which leaves Marathon with 70% on Steam 7700/0.7 being roughly 11,000~

Obviously this is a snapshot, a glance at it as it is right now, at probably the lowest-ish point in 24 hours. It is more to indicate that it is already dipping hard down to at/below D2 numbers.
(D2 24 hour peak being 52,000~ assuming 25% Steam numbers vs Marathon 31,500~ assuming 70% Steam numbers)

Well yeah, people are going to focus on the negatives when discussing a $250 million ($3.6 billion from Sony' perspective) disaster. The most notable thing about Marathon will always be its failure. Nobody was praising the interior design of the Titanic as it sank.

Sony panic buying this studio for billions is so fucking funny man, lmao.
“If Microsoft jumps off a cliff would you?”-ahh decision.

Also if I were in Sony’s shoes I’d be pushing for private servers or P2P, anticheat be damned. Anything to stop bleeding money on upkeep while still being able to save face by not “shutting down” the game.

If most of us were Sony, we probably wouldn't be making the dogshit financial decisions Sony has been making.
