Bungie isn't massive, it's bloated to the gills with adult day care jobs and nepotism. They are going to be getting gutted one way or another, either out of necessity or by Sony's hand. And honestly it's been a long time coming.

That's why's I think Marathon will get dropped. Bungie needs to tighten their belt financially and focus on a product that makes money now while also preparing for the future. D2 getting an AoT will keep them afloat, D3 in 2.5 years will print money. Double and tripling down on marathon will kill the studio, and Sony is too invested to let that happen now.
The main issue with this train of thought is who is still around at Bungie that could possibly run an actual studio that produces actual good games in an actual good timeline? If no one (which is correct, because the whole studio has been brain drained like 4 times over) - where do you possibly find someone who can?

Are any of the current Bungie devs worth keeping on with a new studio if they find someone that can manage it (and that's a gigantic if)? Are Bungie's IPs - in this case Destiny - still worth anything to the normal video game consumer (who likely already bounced off Destiny 1 or Destiny 2, plus all the negative PR around Destiny 2) that would possibly justify the cost?

I think the answer to every question is a real big "No fucking way" but Sony has to try and wring something out of it - but sometimes you have to cut your losses.

I just want to know what the fuck the item does. I don't need to know that the lord of shit shoved it up his ass 2000 years ago and now he has anal prolapsing after its removal.
You can have both, pic related.

No. Item descriptions are there to tell you what the fucking item does.
It doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. Good games will tell you what the item does first, then have a lore dump in italics below that for the VaatiVidyas of the world who give a shit.

They already set this up
Destiny 1's big bad was vaguely the force called "The Darkness" and then they made it into a crazy alien guy using it in Destiny 2 with a character named "The Witness" who used the power of The Darkness (and was masquerading as a personification of The Darkness itself in Destiny 1) to try to cause the heat death of the universe, who got killed super ultra dead by the player character and other protagonists
But now there's this bigger badder guy called "The Winnower" that created The Darkness in the first place (or maybe even just is The Darkness)
The Winnower was known about in the game's lore before The Witness even was concepted as part of the story, but it was intentionally ambiguous as to whether The Winnower even existed, or if the idea of him was just a loose concept to explain and personify The Darkness; but they immediately established him as an existent and definitely real thing in a lore sidenote shortly after killing off The Witness
The story has also teased leaving the solar system and going to other places like the homeworlds of the enemy alien factions, but since Bungie can't just copy-paste existing assets to make those it hasn't happened

I think Destiny 3 is probably still Bungie/Sony's best play to salvage Bungie as a studio, but I'm doubtful that they have the talent, competency, or humility to do that instead of tripling and quadrupling down on Concord 3 Marathon
Shutting down the studio for a 4 billion tax write-off is probably the most logistically sound play though lol

I saw someone on a discord claim to be using cheats and seeing lobbies with only 1 or 2 3-man teams. Some lobbies with 4-5 solo players only.

They had a female writer come in to turn major male characters into pillowbiters.
Destiny has a female writer and I've seen a bit interview with her and from it she seems nice. Interestingly, in last few years Destiny had few fag characters (Nimbus, Micah who is trans) but most beloved characters from new characters is Lodi who is just white seemingly straight (of course not, it is Destiny after all, but not as faggy as Nimbus) man.

From my experience designing this kind of stuff theres 2 good reasons to do this if you want to maximize lore
1. Moves lore away from talking characters
2. Reduces need to read extremely long book about every single weapon
If it’s done right, knowing what the fuck an item does is served by a brief fluff description and a stats box.
‘This ancient mace is infested with AIDS particles, rending and prolapsing unfortunate souls. Indeed, as how it rended the lord of shit’s asshole’
STATS: POOP 3 AIDS 5 MACE 7
Now I’ve got my artsy points, get my lorespergs, you now know the lord of shit shoved something up his ass, I just spared you a 3 hour long cutscene about the lord of shit, and the first sentence already just tells you what it does anyways (quality > effect > moveset)
Why am I writing about the lord of shit? Because you’re fighting in his map, you’re gonna rape him later, and if I withhold all context nothing’s gonna feel connected to him except himself. The game would be troonslop where the guy’s just there as a generic forgettable enemy, instead of a unique thing you havent raped before
If, however, I chose that passage to write a lore sperg about the lore of shit that’s 5 paragraphs long, I am indeed being disingenuous, and I am psyopping you, like just about every modern writer these days.

Yup, this kind of 'decentralized' story telling just lets people play the game and allows other people to engage in it at their own pace.

It's a big win if done correctly.

Yeah, nice women love fags because that's what we've decided nice women do. No contradiction here.

This is true, and I like Warframe as much as anyone. It’s a great game packed to the brim with content. But, as another user pointed out, it’s just as full of nigger, tranny, and faggot shit as destiny and marathon, maybe even more so. They’re not immune to it, especially being a Canadian studio. They just either A. Hide it better or B. Rarely bring it up story wise because it doesn’t make sense.

But aside from gay social politics shit, yeah, Warframe blows bungie out of the water. The amount of quality content they put out, on the time frame they do, and the fact they continue to innovate both narratively and with gameplay systems is unmatched by anyone. Their success is a rarity, and if people swallowed their pride and followed Digital Extremes example then Live Service games might not be dogshit. But that requires effort.
Digital extremes made Warframe with reused dark sector assets and a budget of two dollars too since for as much hate Steve Sinclair (rightfully) gets, he had the right idea with making Warframe a minimally viable product and keep building upon it while selling founders packs/prime access to whales and mtx to the average player. This last part is what most triple A studios/publishers don't get and end up burning millions while taking forever to ship anything.

Warframe is fun, but the story got megagay. Also I find "endgame content" to be uninteresting regardless of the game. When the only challenge is farming ultra-rare loot so you can beat the toughest boss in the game in 0.9 seconds, you've lost me.
