Science March for Science

So a bunch of people gathered to stage a protest or something directed at PMURT and the dumb Republicans who voted for him because he's anti-science and probably believes in God lol what a fag.

Although there seems to be a misunderstanding between what is science-fiction and actual science among these people.

Le Science Man and Le Science Black Man for 2020 also they are very sciencey because they are celebrities.

It is also time for science to stop being based on merits and results, and seize the means of obtaining Nobel Prizes, because marxism and egalitarianism are the most efficient ideologies as demonstrated by history.

But overall I agree with the general sentiment of this demonstration: that is, that politicians are disregarding scientific evidence when taking certain actions. In fact, I don't think I have ever seen any politician consider this piece of scientific data.

Science is a social construct, you cis-het shitlord! Now, gimme a Death Star and Tardis funded by the government! Please?!

Yeah sure they love science, until it says something like the vast majority of gender nonconforming kids grow out of it and aren't really trannies or there's literally nothing wrong with GMOs. Then it's REEEEEEEEEE.

I can tell you honestly, I love science and engineering. What I don't love is having to review someone's article for publication who didn't manage to get someone who wasn't a bombastic ESL to edit it before it got to my hands. Now I have to sift through 14 pages of nearly incoherent word salad to try to make sense of what point, if any, they are trying to make.

On the topic of Le Science Man and Le Science Black Man...

The former is not a scientist. He's an engineer and a science advocate, and that's okay, but he needs to understand what he is, and work within those restrictions. Lawrence Krauss, on the other hand, IS a scientist, and a science advocate. "Le Science Black Man" IS a scientist and a science advocate. My main reason for pointing out these three, is that they represent varying points on a spectrum. As evidenced by Le Science Man's performance on Tucker Carlson, he is a science advocate first, and an engineer second. He en-passions people about STEM, and that's a good thing. However, a real scientist hedges everything they say, and is more than willing to tell people when they do not know something, which is something that Le Science Black Man does, often. He doesn't seem to put advocacy ahead of being a scientist, or vice versa, and is a half way decent educator, being able to shift gears for his audience, as they need it. He also avoids making political statements when he can.

Then there's Lawrence Krauss....

He's a scientist's scientist that's very excited about the game, but has a hard time scaling anything back for the uninitiated. He reminds me of an old professor I had at the beginning of my education for quantum mechanics, and then again just before I graduated for statistical mechanics. It takes approaching his level of education to appreciate how good he actually is, but the most people will ever see of him is someone who either a.) talks so far above the audience that they tune out, of b.) is so concerned with his niche, that they seem autistic in every other aspect of human interaction.

Le Science man needs to understand that he isn't Lawrence Krauss, and while I'm sure he is a very intelligent person, and intelligent people can rapidly acquire varying levels of expertise on a variety of topics, real scientists temper this with hedging, and don't rely on speaking from authority which he seems to do a lot of.
