And they'll make way for a Nintendo Cinematic Universe by introducing a Smash Bros. movie (which will include both Sonic movies, Detective Pikachu and the upcoming Metal Gear movie in the canon).

God I can't fucking believe due to ronaworld stealing 3 years of my life and the droning hyperpolitics bullshit making the other 6 a blur the cranky tropical freeze announcement and the ensuing shitpost storm was nearly a decade ago now. Before I checked the upload of your video I thought it was the dude that literally changed his youtube username to "cranky kong" around that time period and just began uploading nothing but DKC clips and shitposts including the "I'm gonna be a star" song lmao. It's not the same guy but despite him not uploading too frequently anymore I see his account now has the Mario Movie trailer Cranky Kong as the profile pic.

The first half of the 2010s and the second are like two separate entities at this point. Very few bits of YouTube hold that same feeling of the classic era anymore, even if they aren’t political.

One of the few YT personalities that still retains some shitpost nature, and where I first heard the song, was Siivagunner. He had a segment of it play in the Polka during the King For Another Day tournament.

I might argue that the origins of Donkey Kong Country being a YTP goes as far back as 2007 or 08, but back then the videos were more niche compared to 2009 onward.

I’m gonna have to respectfully disagree. Siivagunner (which is a team of many people, btw) started out as a fun shitpost channel but only got more autistic over time. There’s a lot of drama behind the scenes, much of which is documented on the Farms’ thread, with O’Sullivan’s Law going into full effect with things like the gay pride event and the community in general. Personally, the sperging from the whole Voice Inside Your Head thing and Triple-Q using the channel as his soapbox are what gradually made me stop watching. The rips themselves are still usually good, but it’s just not the same. Snow Halation, Wood Man, and Totinos Pizza Rolls™️ were never good.

I honestly have little knowledge of the drama and just check in time to time as I am not filling my subscribtion box with a fuck load of meme vids with an occasional good track. I think you and me can agree that is the best way to enjoy the channel, seeing as it seems like autism otherwise. Also, yeah, a lot of the memes are pretty shit, especially when they repeat them for like two weeks straight, but when you get something like King For The Day or the Panty & Stocking takeover, I think it is worth the watch.
