Uncanny Valley is hitting me super hard right now, not gonna lie. I guess because it’s just off enough to make me feel like I’m looking at something very wrong. Subtle eerie as opposed to the hot mess “realistic Sonic” was.

There's something "off" about Mario and the Toads. With the Toads, I think it's the slightly more fleshed out faces, and the fact that Illumination actually gave them legs; in the games, it looks like their bodies go directly into feet with nothing between. For Mario, it looks like his shirt is moving like a real shirt would, as opposed to the skin-tight red shirt he wears in-game, plus the shiny gloves, and slightly-off facial proportions. Maybe it'll look better in motion, and not from a blurry McDonald's ad though

Toad having the default cutesy cartoony little anime friendlyguy face but with realistic shading to his eyes and realistically proportioned tongue and teeth is THE uncanny valley. Why didn't they just give him a normal face if they felt like giving him the fucking REALISTICALLY TEXTURED HUMAN CGI TEETH AND TOUNGE? Jesus christ it's something else. It's horrible but in an unintentionally funny way.
