This guy really isn't a fan of the movie, and while I don't necessarily disagree with him, the way he's going about expressing said opinion is appalling to say the least
I see /pol/ is spreading to places beyond 4chan.
It's funny how this guy lives rent free in its mind

Not just /pol/, but also /int/ and /tv/.

I can’t tell who’s carrying the puzzle pieces in this conversation.

I'm going to make what's probably going to be a pretty obvious call here and say that the Rainbow Road part is going to be the look down at your phone and catch up on your notifications part of the movie.

Really the only design choices that bother me are girlboss Peach and how they're trying to get as far as possible from the DKC interpretations of DK and Cranky. I'm betting there won't even be a reference to Diddy in there.

I mean, it is Illumination. They'll come up with any gimmick or marketing strategy just to sell well, regardless how generic and boring its movies are (though I don't want the new Mario to be generic or boring or even bad).

Mario Movie Directors Explain Their Take On Princess Peach
[Peach is] the monarch who leads this kingdom of hapless, adorable Toads. We were thinking how strong that person would need to be to protect those people. All that informed the idea for Peach's character in our movie.
....I'm REALLY hoping this is just for marketing's sake, and she's not a generic girlboss.

This is 50/50 for me, it could be a dumb, generic girlboss for the millennial/zoomer crowd or she's just another wacky character and (like you said) what the directors are full of shit and are just saying this as a marketing gimmick.

It's like the rabid rabbit scene off of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It might be cute on the outside, but on the inside he's a literal killing machine, and the knights are full of shit for believing it's innocent.

I'm just thinking of Zelda in how she needed to be a strong monarch for the people of Hyrule but still would need the aid of Hyrule's greatest warrior/hero. Since there's talk of a LoZ movie, I can see these same talking points for her on both sides of the aisle, and yet fans are super absolutely sure that Peach herself can't be a good monarch to her people because she has to be a ditzy blonde always getting kidnapped by an evil ruler wanting her Star Power and her hand in marriage. Boy, that sure doesn't explain why the Toads adore her.

Mario's still going to be the hero at the end of the day (probably will share the glory with Luigi), Peach will not land the final blow herself. I see nothing wrong with her giving aid if needs be, especially since Fire Peach has long been a thing, so she technically can fight off foes if she needs to.

I wonder who will voice as Zelda? Moreover, who's going to voice Link, Ganon or The King?

My bet is that Anthony Hopkins will play The King and Will Arnett will be Ganon.
